I had one awesome experience in this game with my friend. We were playing 1v1, i was infected and my friend(better than me btw) was survivors. So, he managed to get to a some kind of mansion, and zombies started pouring in. I transformed to tank, and went to look down from hole in the roof.. guess what i saw; my friend's whole team including himself was there! I jumped.. GROOOAAARR.. and then he realizes to look up. Too late.

The reason for the hunting rifle uselessness is it being inaccurate and reloading time. While on the move, it is terrible for killing common and special infected. When standing still and in zoom, killing everyone 'would' be easy, but in versus the infected team won't give you that leisure

Thank you, it will help me a lot. I prefer auto shotty beacuse its effective against close quarters, i am trying to avoid fire friendly to get achievement by moving ahead of team. So that why i am always in close quarters against hordes of infected..

Plus you shouldnt call them zombies, just call it infected beacuse zombie and infected is different. Zombie eat flesh, Infected don't.

Just because old Hollywood movies say that Zombies are undead flesh-eaters doesn't mean that it's true. In popular culture now, Zombies are people infected with some sort of disease, or cures for sickness that backfire. When a real zombie apocalypse does happen, it will probably happen the way portrayed in this game movies like I Am Legend(and I'm also kidding so don't call me stupid).

Good video, but I only have 2 problems.

1. We gotta put this mouse vs. controller thing to rest. I'm not saying either is better... it's 100% preference.

2. Survivor 1st has a bigger advantage against better teams because you have the ability to plan for your tank on infected. Especially on earlier maps when you would normally attack quickly, you know to save it to make sure you can get them in a bad position.

Otherwise, great vid for beginners.

The hunting rifle is useless compared to the other tier 2 weapons. Someone mentioned that you can one shot special infected, well you can easly kill pouncing hunters with a simple burst with the colt. Or simply shoot him in the face with the shotty when hes close enough.

The hunter rifle may be a OK weapon if it's in the hands of a VERY skilled aimer (think aimbot-ish), but most ppl overestimate there own skill and end up being useless to the team.

I think the Hunting Rifle has its use. It can shoot rocks out of mid-air, which can neutralize the "stay back and chuck rocks" strategy (especially in the Death Toll finale), in addition to being one of the few people who can actually hit the tank from such a distance. It also makes Smokers pretty much useless, in addition to being able to pick off hiding Boomers or Hunters. And you have 3 others to help you fight off mobs, which is the biggest threat to a sniper.

Boomers and hunters shouldn't be spawned up hiding. Well, at least boomers shouldn't. The hunting rifle is all fine and everything until the person with it gets boomed on and everyone else pounced. If you want to take that risk fine, but no matter what, 4 auto shotties or adding in an AR will destroy anything.

What are you talking about? Sniper rifle can be INCREDIBLY useful, you can oneshot specials easily, like a hunter popping his head over a building (You do have to know how to aim though... which i assume you dont)

It's not balanced enough, though. I love the hunting rifle, I use it a lot, but the fact is, there isn't enough incentive to use it. Slower rate of fire than auto shotgun, small clip, and huge spread when moving. Even though it's great for picking off special infected, a hunting rifle user is still less of a credit to the team than an auto shotgun user, and he's absolutely useless in a fight against the tank. Looks like Valve has fixed the hunting rifle for L4D2, so I'll be using it more.

i disagree about the hunting rifle because it can take down an entire swarm in about 3 - 5 shots if u can place them right and the amazing accuracy makes it even better but i agree with it taking a few shots for special infected

I disagree with the hunting rifle part, while it's true that it takes a few shots to kill an infected, the long range accuracy is beautiful. Many a times my team has been saved from a smoker waiting around a car alarm or a hunter lurking in the background. I try to keep one on my team.

piotrekno1, I know this is a late response, but yes, you should be able to run L4D on highest settings. It is a bit more demanding so you might have to lower the settings a bit, but try the demo before buying just to be sure. :)

You're saying all this like it's fact. I get far more special infected kills with the hunting rifle and in fact it only takes one shot to kill any special apart from tanks and witches if you aren't a spak at aiming. In campaigns I almost always get the most standard infected kills as well on expert. In fact I got asked to join my clan based on my skill with the hunting rifle. On it's own it isn't that useful, as part of a team of 3 others with shotties and M4s it's definitely very useful.

i agree with orcerthehunter hes lookin down on the sniper, yeah its not so effective in no mercy, but in a long or open place they can be devastating especially to smokers, they kill smokers easily, plus if you have them at the beging of the level you can snipe all the zombies before you leave the safe room.  Hes also giving to much glory to the assult rifle, yeah its good but it can burn through ammo very quickly

bah, the sniper usely kills most special infected in 1 or 2 shots if you scope it, and the automatic gun's bullets usely go every where and take a bit more time to kill something at greater distance, though i will usely prefer the assault rifle, the sniper can be more useful then you expect

Nice job summarizing. Not to complain but you forgot to mention the zombies will only go after the pipe bomb if their not already preoccupied with a survivor, although anybody that play a few times would notice anyways.

The sniper is REALLY useful in taking down hordes because one shot will pass through every zombie lined up. Use it to help the shotgun users kill the tank from a distance. Don't use it if you're rushing a versus match.

The shotgun is really good at killing hordes too if they are all focused in a single door way. These are real tank killers.

The m4 rifle is the gun you'd like to use for watching over your teammates. It runs out of ammo the quickest so you have to be careful with it too.

Nice guide I guess but I highly disagree with your comments on the hunting rifle. My team runs two m16s, one auto shotty, and a hunting rifle. A player skilled with a hunting rifle can easily one shot hunters, smokers, and boomers from long range.
