When I was a boy in Tanzania there was a hippo who always carried a 3 ft stick in his mouth. Whenever challenged to battle by an opened-mouth combatant he would turn his head completely sideways and jam the scepter into his opponent's mouth, thereby rendering them unable to close their massive jaws. He would then deftly move behind them and kick them in the leg until they submitted and ran off in search of a woodpecker.
