How to use Windows Vista Sidebar

2ND comment. Eventually the internet told me to right click to remove ( FGS!) , now I don't know how to re apply it. Someone help cos Accessories isn't helping me here at all. The options via Properties just aren't providing the necessary stuff to click/ unclick.

I'm Vista. How the hell to I re apply it after last night's update?

A few days ago, I took the sidebar down for the bugger of it, and put my gadgets to the left. Power To The People.

But last night's update slapped the sidebar back all over about ten icons, making half of them impossible to access. Luckily my internet was to the left and could be pulled out. But that How To Geek thing gave different advice from the other day, was dated 2007, and the Properties via Accessories had CHANGED.

It all depends on the gadget you are adding. Some gadgets take more room then others. Just experiment with it, and see what you can do with it. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, you can have multiple pages of gadgets on the sidebar.

i DID find the icon by doing a search yesterday and i checked properties; the 'start sidebar' was already UNchecked, so go figure...:-(. i can't for the life of me understand why it's there. i moved the 3 gadgets on there to my desktop but when i go to play the game, the right side of the screen is just the black bar. and, this is a new computer! do you reckon something's wrong?

I did. I'm at a loss, but since this 'puter is new and I still have a warranty, I think I'll just let tech. support (hopefully) do some remote actions. I can't thank you enough for helping; you're a good person and are doing a GREAT service, believe me. WE NEED YOU! :-)

I'm actually trying to get RID of my sidebar, for a game that I downloaded; due to the sb., part of the game is cut off and there's just a 2-3 in. wide vertical 'bar'. Any advice?? Really excellent video. I actually learned some things! Thank you.

what you need to do is right click on the sidebar icon in the bottom, then click properties. once you are in the properties window, uncheck where it says "Start Sidebar When Windows Starts" that will take it off the startup, so it wont start when you re-boot windows. after that, right click on the icon again, and click "Exit". that will stop Sidebar from coming up again, unless you want it to. hope that helps!
