im a mobile DJ from south texas. i too have noticed that the quality of other DJ's is crap. i live very close to the mexican border....and here i believe thats the problem. many people are coming over to DJ and charging 80 to 100 dollars for 4 hrs, making the rest of us look bad and taking possible gigs from us.i enjoy what i do because i love the music...i first had the library of music then decided to become a DJ. not the other way around.the quality of equipment and professionalism count
Exactly, it should be done 4 the love of music and that only. Some ppl just like the idea of bein a dj without puttin in the time and effort. I got my decks 8 months ago and still practice daily for 1-2 hours. You cant beat the feelin of playin somethin to a crowd that uv been practicing 2 get just right and nailin it wit such apparent ease. Its so easy 2 pick out the djs who kno ther tracks inside out and those that just throw anything 2gether and hope 4 the best.
Great to see your keen to share your advise, I will def be keen on learning what i can as Im just starting out and trying to get as much info as I can!! Thanks heaps
mate nice to see an aussie "Dj Tutor" not officially but awesome still. i also am from the land down under and just wanted to say hey. im from longreach in queensland.
just about to look at your other videos
ps love your attitude towards people doing gigs for a job and not a passion. a lady in my town did a wedding for 4 hrs and charged a grand. she played music of iTunes lol
hahaha lmao i have just began djin but i dont hav a lot of monny but thanks to jon he shod my dj tech s stuff and i am haveing the best time of my life
Regarding ptactice, I often invision (especially if I have a gig lined up) to be playing before a crowd, and really doing at home what I would do 'live' on two turntables. Thanks for the tip, each one, teach one.
Powerful words! If one love what they do--then the doing only gets better. I practice threw my headphones, often times using the cue switch like a crossfade; I practice from 8 to 12 times a day. It's nothing to catch me with headphones on while standing over the turntables. As for money, actually I wouldn't mind doing parties for free, its as if I'm playing music at home, but in this world a man can't live on bread along. Get paid for your efforts i say. Just don't over charge.
yea I totally agree, I dont go to my school dances because there just garbage, like the music doesnt even flow its just one track stops then the other track plays, the dj just uses a laptop and WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! that happens here a lot in Canada I find where its just really low standards, I hope to change that and bring some European dance music in at the same time as people only hear the oldschool techno here and think it all sucks.
I don't even go to my school disco anymore because the dj sucks and has no setup at all, all ive seen is a cd player a mixer and speakers small then 12", and thats it, no lights at all and charges outrageous price for a shitty show. (im from Kiama NSW)
