  • my question is, why do you want to eat "fake bacon" and dont call it what it is? its roasted coconut, isn't it?

does it make you feel better by calling it fake?

  • this video was so creative and good that i said "wow" to myself

  • I am reading your book Heal Yourself 101 right now!!! I got the Kindle version on Amazon, I am disappointed that this version is black and white, no nice colors, I should have gotten it on your site, at the same price.

  • Awesome Markus!!!! Give us more recipe videos, they are great!!! Love from Switzerland

  • ...but I thought we have to eat all fresh and raw; in particular fruits like the ananas, were all useful vitamins are in form of raw

  • @TheMimisport Yes pure fresh juicy raw is better. But dehydrating is no hotter than fruit that fell on the ground and got heated by the summer sun.

  • @TheMimisport at 115 degrees, you aren't actually "cooking", just warming, and you don't kill the live enzymes. :)

  • is braggs raw/unpasterized too? nama shoyu has gluten in it ...braggs doesnt could be a better option maybe?

  • @lifesagardenyadigit Never heard of Nama Shoyu having gluten. My personal experience is that my body does not react well with Braggs but much better with NS.

  • Markus,

What is the sauce you used? I've not heard of it. Where do you get it?

    -Kim

  • @kricherson67 Nama Shoyu is unpasteurized soy sauce, got it at Whole foods

  • Amazing! Thanks for sharing!! <3

  • Nice video Markus. Keep up the good work.

  • xx

  • Nice recipe, Markus ! Thanks for sharing ! :)

  • Awesome!

  • For those who can't get young coconut, I saw instructions to make "bacon bits" by the same method, using the wide strips of mature coconut. They're dried and I got them at the bulk food store.

I add a few drops of liquid smoke flavor to the tamari sauce marinade. I also saw someone who added a little maple syrup or even maple extract. I used to get this product called "bakon yeast", which was powdered torula yeast with bakon flavor. Pretty awesome.

  • Can i use an oven instead of a dehydrator?

  • ah.. good point, Markus.. Thank you. :)

  • What kind of Coconut were you using? The kind I usually buy don't have such a wet meat.

  • @UniversalTruths Young Thai coconuts

  • Awesome! I wanna make some of that.

  • Unfortunately, they don't sell those young coconuts where I live, only the old ones.

  • @amee664 put said oven on lowest temp and leave door open is the said official way of mimicking a dehydrator. If you are not too concerned with enzymes and being 100% healthy, close the door or use a toaster oven

  • Thank you, sounds wonderfully easy. Hoping that Christmas finds me with a De-hydrator so I can try this.

  • Thanks Markus

  • It is a funny idea but i don´t see the point for a true veg want to fake burger meat etc. maybe for those who are still in stage of getting rid off the bad stuff or want to just "substitute" for animal´s life sake- for me it is the content aka nutritial value that matters most, don´t need a make-up

cool idea if u have guests or invite friends though - no potato chips and other crap

  • @janius777 ok then, call it "great tasting brown strips" if that makes you feel better:)

  • Wow, that looks great! I'm off to get some cocos today!

  • Sounds good and easy, but actually only applicable for those who live under a coconut tree. But we don't have coconut trees in our country.

  • @MrXolotl2009 neither do we. Thank goodness for grocery stores and Asian markets

  • Awesome... Thank you, Markus.. Until I always made it with eggplants..

  • @irilight Eggplants are a nightshade. Go easy

  • @MarkusRothkranz - Forgive my ignorance and pleading; would you be so kind to elaborate on your nightshade cautioning or perhaps suggest a link?

Thank you. First time I visited your site, keep up the good work, amigo!

  • Yummy!

  • how does it tase??

  • @lumberjak1984 AWESOME ! I was addicted to it right away

  • @MarkusRothkranz I believe you that it tastes awesome... but since you call it fake bacon - does it taste like bacon? ... I doubt that... I'm just curious... I am a vegetarian too and sometimes I also feel like eating some fake meat or something...

  • @chreberle it's not exactly like bacon but pretty darn addictive either way.

  • @lumberjak1984 It "tase's" awesome. Try it and tell me yourself
