I was three when I first went on this I was sooooooooo scared I never went on it fir the trips when I was five and seven and nine. Also once when I was ten. The same year I was ten my cheerleading team went to Disney a few months after our vacation and I didn't wanna be a chicken in front of all my friend so I went on. I agree, fighting over which Space Mountain is pointless. They are both great coaster that help revolutionize the roller coaster world. For all the Disneyland fans out there who have been ripping on the Disney World one, knock it off. DW's was first and if it wasnt for it, you wouldnt habe a Space Mountain. ive been on both of them and each has its pros and cons.

the queue for this ride is really awesome. it's like a real spaceship. both DL and WDW have really awesome queues. But, i have noticed that there is no screaming on this ride in every video. disneyland space mountain videos have people screaming. The small seats look like you can fall off anytime.

No the matterhorn's a load of bollox....there's no 39ft drop in it....space mountain wdw is alot better than that ride...and who cares if its bumpy...it's still as fast at the DL space mountain and it's the true original aswell

@MarkS5345 Dude, the Matterhorn is 51 years old, of course it's not going to have a 39ft drop. Plus it was the very first roller coaster with a tubular steel track, so they couldn't do much with it. But it's still a great ride. Don't go to DL for tons of thrills, the park is not about that.

WDW is the best by far! Come on....3 lifts, 13ft drop, endless circles and awful soundtrack? It is nothing compared to the original space mountain! Plus i really like the single seated coasters too...

@MarkS5345 DW's Space is just the Matterhorn in the dark. How is it better than DL's with more theming, the one being developed first, music, and a smoother track? Even after the refurb, DW's is still rickety and feels like the supports are going to break in half.

If you go to Disneyland a lot, most likely one is going to say the Space Mountain there is better. Same goes for people that go to WDW more.

Either way, these rides are in TWO SEPARATE THEME PARKS! Of course they are going to be different! The imagineers for each ride have their own unique style! Duh! One isn't better than the other and be glad Space Mountain is still in both places!

Yes the biggest drop recorded is 39 feet. The only reason why they don't go so fast is because the trains are 1/2 the size of the ones at Disneyland. The Matterhorn sucks compared to the WDW Space Mountain.

On Orlando Attractions' website, it says the official recorded drop on it is 39 feet which is the biggest drop of all Space Mountains in the U.S.

I like this version much better because it has the video game which is a good occupation if your gonna be waiting in line for a half an hour. I got up early for a not wait time and I zipped right through so i didnt really get to take it in but i walked by the game and i pushed all the thruster buttons. But i think it got MUCH darker and a smidge faster. They didnt take away much they just added on the ride cars arent exact same, and the screens at the begining of the queue used to be 2.

I think that this Space Mountain is the best version. A ride doesn't need to have music or effects to be good! This Space Mountain has single file seating which I think is better because the ride seems wilder and much faster, Disneyland's is just to boring. The layout is just circles on the second half and it has 3 lifts. The whole 1st minute is just lifts where this one you are always keeping up to speed and/or turning!

This version sucks. Its rough and slows down all the time. The rockets are ghetto little sticks of fiberglass. Disneylands is smooth has music and is amazing. Puts this florida pile to shame they need to blow it up and rebuild it

@rocketrodlover Guess what? in space there is no music!! Strike one against Disneyland. The biggest drop on Disneylands is a whopping 13 feet while WDW has a 39 ft drop. Strike two. and Strike three? The lack of the streamlined trains. Singlefile seats FTW. Overall WDW rapes Disneyland, plus WDW is the original.

Cheap effects?? Since when has anything done by Disny been cheap? They are a multi-billion dollar company that spends a shitload of cash on everything. Anyways i've ridden this coaster tons of times and not once have i ever felt anything close to pain. Just shows how much of a pussy you are. Not to mention they put a roof over the boarding area typical of disney to destroy an attraction. Plus all the creepy loud crappy noises it makes even during the ride. The rockets clank and bump while disneylands rolls fast and smooth and hums. A true coaster. Floridas will forever suck since they are to fuckin cheap to even put new track in. Wdw will always take short cuts like that meaningless 7 month rehab(if you call it one)

Okay? first off your evasive replies continue to say the same thing over and over without offering any real proof. second circles do not give the sensation of flight or high speed for that matter. Flying and airtime give sensations of flight, neither of which any space mountain does. Second if you want to ride a true coaster go to Cedar Point. Lastly we've already been over this Disny is not cheap. There is not one amusement buisness anywhere that spend the amount of cash that disney does.

Disney world doesent spend money they dont have to. Disneylands is smooth bottom line. Their all unique in their own way. Disneylands feels like real flight with fast smooth turns. Floridas is the oldest with the original track which is very rickety. Its needs an overhaul which they wont spend the money on. Now enough arguing over something this stupid as to which is better. @Intamin09 I disagree with you .Circles give you the sensation of Space Travel that has massive G-Force not airtime . You are in a Airplane I feel is G Force and turns. When I go on Space Mountain in Anaheim I feel Speed and G Force unlike the Matterhorn and your Space Mountain in Orlando that I have not been on but heard is rough like the Matterhorn that's not Space Flight . Space Flight is G-Force ,Smoothness and Speed. Disneyland SM Makes Me feel like I am Flying and this Space Mountain Rock

@Daniel2131990, I agree that flying in an airplane you can feel lateral G's, but in space you feel weightless so you wouldn't feel any G's (or you would feel 0 g's) which can only be replicated by airtime. Having been back on the WDW Space Mountain a month or two ago, it wasn't as super awsome as i remember it being (compared to the rides at Cedar Point) but it still is a fun fast ride that which I prefer over the slower paced Space Mountain at Disney Land.

@Intamin09 Well sometimes I feel weightless on Space Mountain. But you can't get the feeling of weightlessness on Space Mountain it speed is caused by gravity. The Space Mountain in Disneyland is the Original Ride Concept that Walt Disney Had in Mind but he passed away so ride was shelved till 1975. After the secess of Orlando Space Mountain was just a test attraction. The Real deal is in Anaheim what Walt Disney Imagined . This is the First Indoor rollercoaster adds to a new dimention.

You're crazy! This one is by far better than Disney World's version. DL''s version has better theming, a soundtrack, side by side seating, better cars, better effects, and is faster. Disney World's management doesn't like to spend money. That's why it still looks cheap as it always has been, but cheaper because of the lame interactive queue games.

This ride has a layout that twists and truns vs. DIsneyland's which just goes around in the circles for the second half of the ride. The biggest drop on here is 39 feet and the biggest at Disneyland is 13. The whole point of the refurbishment was to add more effects and stars. This ride doesn't need to have a soundtrack to be as good as it is!

I don't know. The WDW may be the original, but the disneyland version is much better. It has music. The new music is so epic, it gives you the feeling of speed and excitement just listening to it alone.

It never had any music. Either it was a different space mountain or another guy put music in on his space mountain video. The glow in the dark strips were removed because it let out a surprisingly amount of light, according to one disney cast member, and they want it to be as dark as possible.

There are many things changed. The que is different and has video games now, the blue tunnel is also different, it is darker, the red wormhole has a different sound pitch, new track and they made some other general changes.

Now I must mention the flashing signs on the lift hill have been replaced per some of the latest Space Mountain POV videos created by aerohead4. These new signs better match up with the ones inside the loading station and holding tunnel before the lift hill.
