  • Very nice version!

  • Anyone thinking Michael Jackson's dance moves were original should watch footage of Jackie Wilson, James Brown and Jeffrey Daniel.

  • @cbak12sg

  • @ShireGeordie Pretendin yer've nivver hord of a woorld feemoos stor is nivver foony, bonnie lad or lass

  • A classic sung by the world's best Jackie Wilson. Love this.

  • He takes a song and makes it his own. This is a great redition of a classic. Only Jackie could do this.

  • Jackie Wilson meets Lawrence Welk! LOL! Seriously though, I'm a big Jackie Wilson fan.

  • @susandiane311 Yes, if Jackie had of sung with Lawrence Welk's band, it may have sounded like this!

  • Absolutely priceless.

  • PURE MAGIC!!!

  • does he say swoon or spoon ? =S

  • Spoon.

  • He says "spoon" ...it meant, to cuddle.

  • where i come from spoon means two things, one of them is cuddiling the other is...well im not going to tell you that one xD

  • I THINK i get it!

  • Tom, thanks for all your uploads. Had to read more about Jackie Wilson............

This was his FIRST solo record after he left the Dominoes in 1957 ! ! ! !

Had to shed some tears when I read he collapsed at a benefit concert in 1975 at age 41, living 9 more years never regaining consciousness.

Some people pass through our lives like meteors, a big blazing flash, and then gone. But what beautiful memories they can leave behind.........................

  • You're welcome, thanks for the additional information!

  • @chkjns

ELVIS LOVED JACKIE LIKE A BROTHER. ELVIS WAS SO FLATTERED WHEN HE SAW JACKIE DOING A GREAT VERSION OF "DONT BE CRUEL" WHEN HE FIRST APPEARED IN VEGAS. THROUGH THE YEARS THEY REMAINED CLOSE FRIENDS. ALL THE YEARS THAT JACKIE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL, LYING UNCONSCIOUS, ELVIS WOULD MAKE SPECIAL TRIPS JUST TO SEE HIS DEAR FRIEND.

  • @chkjns

  • I'm in JACKIE WILSON heaven! 5 stars/favs! Like CookieMCMLVII said, Jackie could take any genre of music and make it his own! Thanks to BeachMusicDJ for sharing and for ILoveJenni47 for posting it!

  • Jackie could have sung the phone book and it would have been great

  • Excellent. Jackie Wilson was one of those rare artists who could take any genre of music and make it his own. This is a wonderful arrangement, and that falsetto is incredible. I really enjoyed this.

  • Hey Cookie57, I just put this on my 1957 playlist. Each year from 1952-1972 now has at least 20 songs on it. Have a listen to what your mom was hearing while she emptied your diapers! Chuck

  • Whenever someone hears this song for the first time, at first they think a "nice little soft-shoe version done in the 'traditonal' style"...however, once you get to the falsetto, and that amazing ending...you will be blown away...what is really amazing is that he was only 22 years old when this was recorded!

  • I love to hear old songs performed, and Jackie's interpretation is innovative and infectious! The orchestra was conducted by Dick Jacobs and he produced similiar arrangements for one of my other favourite singers, Teresa Brewer, when she recorded standards.

  • Jacobs was a musical magician. He worked with some of the best artists and turned out a huge collection of hits. He was in the process of writing a book, "Who Wrote That Song" when he died. His widow, Harriet finished it and sent me a copy...some very nice pictures and memories of the artists he worked with. He was a great supporter of Jackie's when he came to Brunswick and they became very close friends.

  • That guy could sing anything. He started the song like Bing and ended it like Ella. Always a pleasure to listen to Jackie. Thanks for sharing, POAS.

  • Makes you kind of feel like tap dancing,

wow my Parent's would love this music,

but Jackie makes this song sound great,

this looks like the first JW album I ever

bought, just a kid then. After that, I never

bought another one again-- untill my recent collection. Real nice...

    Peace- M
