I have Vegas 4. Does 8 allow you to adjust the saturation for either the midtones, shadows or highlights separately?

And why does the Color Correction secondary have terms like Gamma, Offset and Gain instead of midtones, shadows and highlights. Are those the same?

I disagree with adding sharpness. That's just the common name for edge enhancement. It looks good as a still image but it makes the video on a dvd appear to have worse compression. (more blockiness)

Vegas 8 does allow you to adjust them seperately. And yes, do not add sharpness, at the time I thought It made it enhanced the quality, but it doesn't

@Knightmessenger Vegas 9 is already out and its almost identical to 8 but it comes with a few extra plugins, and uses less cpu so I would recommend it.

Drag a Reset to none onto your clip and then copy the settings that I have.

Those aren't the only options you have, those are just certain presets.

I almost always use the "Reset to None" option which puts the effect on without any changes. Then you can slide all the options up or down as much as you want.

If it still lags then you have a weak graphics card, put it down to draft (auto).

You are correct, there is no "color correction" effect under saturation adjust.

My advice would be to drag reset to none on your clip and copy the settings I have.

no, you don't. you can save your setting as a preset, the enter that preset in the timeline be adding the effect, then all clips in that timeline will have the effect. This is handy obviously when you want to repeat effects often to different clips.

instead just right click on the clip, go to media FX, double click on saturation adjust, then on ok. then the right window should pop up
