in my opinion you just can't compare BMWs, Mercedes and Audis with Jaguar. Jaguar is a luxury brand all way! here in germany BMW is for 18 year old guys who buy their first car and want to be gangster, mercedes ist just a taxi and audi is a volkswagen with another name. Jaguar is a luxury brand, if you drive a jaguar you drive a luxury car. if you drive a mercedes... maybe a taxi, or an cheap A class? and so on. jaguar doesn't build small and unluxury cars like the german brands.
@Bwause83 - So true. My dad got one of these XF's 2 weeks ago against a 3 series BMW, and although the BMW had a great engine, the 3.0 V6 in the Jag is just as good, if not a lot better. And I don’t think German cars can rave much about their engineering skills to win customers, because we know that the competition is closing in on build quality fast, and Jaguars these days, are just spectacular. I think the days of German cars having the upper hand on pristineness are numbered.
@refresh967 They say that Ian Callum also designed the Aston Martin. I had a good detailed look at two of these cars at the airport this morning. Incredibly beautiful design.
i honestly thought this was a great review, the guy spoke way more clearly and managed not to be boring than a lot of the other idiotic people who reviews cars.
I would chose the Jag over all the other mid-size saloons (german, japanese, swedish or what ever). But I wish they would make a inline six with a lagre displacement (and/or with a supercharger/turbocharger for high torque), although it's not going to happen... :(
I went inside a Jaguar taking out all my previous biases of European luxury cars. I happened to like the interior design. The exterior looks decent also. The reading lights in the front will come on with just a soft touch. The door panels inside lights blue. Seats are soft and bulky. Air vents automatically open up. Shift knobs goes up automatically also. There is a USB port and a flash drive. The door trims are illuminated light blue. Jaguar engines will last you a long time.
lol @ the guy trying to open the glove box pressing the sensor like it's a button. You don't need to press it violently like your poking it, you have to smooth and gently wipe your finger on it with caress, it's a sensor not a button... Great car BTW!

Bingo! You just solved your own conspiracy! That's the whole reason why, Ford bought those two companies, douchebag! They weren't selling vehicles on their own(at the expensive price they were selling at)so, Ford bought them and, priced them cheaper! Smh@you!
at last ! no more ford on jaguar ! now its the 1980s jaguar dat evryone want ! ford fuck bitch makin s type n x type not oirignal with ford chassis n engine ! we want da real jaguar ! we want XF ! forget bout the fuckin s x type !

Well..., believe it or, not..., Ford saved Jaguar from going bankrupt because, they weren't selling enough on their own design and, powertrains! Did you really pay attention to the last Jaguar designs over the years that, Ford owned them? They were VERY nice...but, most Jaguars still used their own powertrains. Without Ford..., Jaguar, LandRover and, Volvo are going to hit ROCK BOTTOM! You already see that, their sells are dropping already(especially LandRover)! ;-)
all they did is design conceptz with random ideas they found from aston martin and crap. They were only expensive because you american guyz want 20" rimz on all your cars soo what do ford do just bring in bigger engines and screw on larger wheels!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Lol.. That's not true! Not all of us care about big rims(although, they looks nice)! Ford couldn't make a profit off Jag. because, Jag. just couldn't sell(LandRover, also). So..., they had to get the boot. Plan and, simple as that! Believe, you, me..., if Jag. and, LR. sold vehicles like they should've..., Ford would've still owned them.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well..., Ford got to get the word out there, somehow. Either it threw word of mouth or, telebroadcasting. No matter if, Ford kept Jag. and, LR...., Ford vehicles are going to sell, anyways! Ford's selling of vehicles might not be up to par(like it should)but, they're doing a heck of alot better than, the other 2(GM, Mopar)! Recently..., Ford sells have been on the rise though. ;-)
is that like taking the mick! heres a little quote from lookers jaguar march 2009 "Today Jaguar is the UKs biggest motomotice exporter whose sales grew by 30 percent in the last five years.. Jaguar is one of the country's biggest investors in R&D ensuring vehicles keep their technological edge on our competitors and raked within the top 10 R&D investors in the UK and top 150 globally."
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That may be true...but, those sales have to matter in other major countries...rather than, just the UK.. If Jag's. sales rose 30% within the last five years..., during those years..., they were with Ford. ;-) I always loved Jag.. Personally..., if I were to buy another luxury vehicle besides Lincoln or, Cadillac..., I'll be a Jag. or, Audi! All of those brands are my favs....but, I feel, Jags. and, Audis are for a certain class of people, u kno'(in which, I like). ;-)
jaguar in is in a class of its own. it does rival bmw or any german car.. it doesnt need to.. its in its own class. audiz more just on like performance but jag brings them both power; luxury together with light clean finishes with intergrated neat technologies.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I always thought, Audi gave both(luxury and, performance)at the same level...and, BMW was the performer while, Merc.-benz brung the luxury. Sort of like Lexus and, Lincoln(luxury), Cadillac and, Infinity(performance) and, Chrysler and, Acura(both). ;-)
i agree however none of the german cars have the lookz or the star rating interiors. just look at the start up sequence on the xf.. dont see that on any german bits of marked plastic. Jags and most of british cars excluding miniz wen they were british have the best looking interiors that work for the cilent!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I can admit..., If it's some things I really like on this Jag. is, the way the gear shift knob comes up and, air vents open when activated. ;-) The chrome going across the rear won me over, also. That's shows a touch of American luxury! ;-)
Oh yeah. Volvos always been good quality cars. My old man loves Volvo(and, Dodge). He owns a 2004 S80(very nice car)and, owned a few more Volvos throughout his life! ;-)
@georgeboothz Haha. dont even bring bmw and Jaguar in the same sentence.Went to both dealerships one day and the bmw 5 series interior was the same as it was in 199-something. I went to jaguar and the interior was wonderful and it drove really good, like a tiger.

my dad owns an XF, the v6 petrol.
Just like the host of this video, my dad pokes at the glovebox touch sensor and fails all the time. it only needs a gentle touch.
and the paddle shift option is amazing, it really is instant response, and boy does the engine and exhaust make a great noise!
i feel sorry for those who have no imagination and buy merc's and bmw's

Glovebox. It's his finger, not the touch button itself. Tried it myself today and it works 10/10 times.
