@yaound89: For actual proof of the Indian origins of Irish music, there's a video on Youtube of Davy Graham playing "She Moves Through The Fair" which is excellent.
I used to hearing this album more than 30 years ago. Fell in love with celtic, gaelic and traditional british music.
BTW 99,99% of the people don't know that our culture is called Indo-european and many of the words we use have their ancient roots in the sanskrit language.
For Colorado Bansuri I would recommend a couple sites, maybe you know them, Folk Corporation Forum, a Fairport Convention related site that delves deeply into music related to this, including Renbourn and Pentangle,(as well as regular often very funny contributors, nice people) and also I would recommend Green Man Review.
Your comment gives me chills and is very profound. I've been trying to explain this on youtube but always fail. These days, it's only extreme production and "music videos" of epic proportions that entertain. I'm all about the music of the people. Where is it today?
I enjoyed this - I like the layers, vocal and instrumental arrangements. The drumming particularly stands out to me.

Beautifully done.
I'd love to hear this in a non-English language (Welch or Gaelic, perhaps) - does anyone know of such an arrangement?

I read where ritchie blackmore said John was one of his favorite guitar players. So I bought this album on a whim. What a gem.

Best arrangement of this song I've ever heard.
Also, the cover image is taken from La Pia de Tolomei, painted by Dante Gabriel Rossetti in 1874.

Folk- music is the only genuine issue for music. One great composer said - The People make music, we - the composers only write it...

@stanislavpaleha who said that?
nicodagger 1 year ago
@nicodagger Russian composer Michail Glinka( (1804-1857),
More correctly- he said "...we only arrange it".

@stanislavpaleha Spaceba! Очень хорошо!
I love Glinka, as a child in my first orchestra we played the overture to "Ruslan and Lyudmila". He was a great man.
