About the brake fins - the reason for the pivoting is it's less expensive to manufacture. One pivot point, vs. a sliding component which has more parts and the potential to bind up. It's just a simpler way of doing the same thing.
@duckjock - Thanks Iain! I like the ride a lot and could have easily ridden it all day but it did suffer from the Intaride Syndrome for a big portion of the day I was there. If you notice, some of the shots I took don't have a lot of clouds in the sky. Some did. This was because I had to get shots at different parts of the day because the coaster not running consistantly.
@OHssc - Yep! One of the reasons I wanted to take that shot was to show a glimpse of those retracting fins. I did take some footage of the same type of fins that are directly after the longest launch but I didn't include that footage in here. You can get within pretty close to those fins near the start of the ride and study how they work. I know Intaride/Intamin has been using these for a few years now.
How is it? The video footage is amazing. One of your best . I would really like to know what the ride rates at riding it? That was worth another view~
@Paneeks1960 - To be honest, it is a tame ride. That's not a bad thing. I felt it was more along the lines of a family ride than a major thrill machine. It was fun to ride and very, very smooth. The only thing that really has me scratching my head ever so slightly is the inversion. I truly love inversions but the lone spin on this one does feel a bit out of place for this ride. At least I thought so. Thanks again Rob.

@duckjock - If there was anyone that I knew would be able to answer that, it's you. That makes total sense. Thank you for explaning.

Great shots, Sean! We rode in October - Phil too! One of my favourite "New for 2011" rides. I could just ride it all day.

Are those diagonally retracting fins I see at 1:41? I never would've thought I'd see something like that.
