I'm not Welsh (and I don't particularly care for some of Charlotte Church's life choices) but I cannot help but be moved to tears everytime I hear this. I've tried in vain to figure out why this is. Its not difficult to see why all Welshmen seem to grow two foot taller when this is sung. I think, perhaps, it is the sheer pride that so obviously fills these Welsh guys that touches me. They have every right - what a fantastic nation and heritage.
it´s rather difficult to decide what is the best in this video, whether Charlotte´s beauty, her voice, the extraordinary beautiful song, the men´s choir..... one thing is for sure, this is one out of the pack, too few interpretations like this 24 karat golden gem, let us dream forever with the voice of not an angel but of THE ANGEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah! shibec69, so nice to see there are still a few people walking into the future backwards. I've attended folk clubs in Ireland (both bits) Wales and Scotland and have never had any anti English sentiment except in jest when the Rugby is on. In every society there is a small group of usually low income low intelligence people who use the uglier aspects of nationalism to champion a cause to make themselves feel they have an identity because they are insecure as individuals.
Sorry, I meant no offence. I was referring more to all the nations that have their own signature songs! This one happens to be a Welsh anthem of sorts, while England, Ireland & my home of Scotland, also have their own music. I was not suggesting who was first or last to be the victim of expansion!
I really liked your video and your channel. If you need any help getting this video or channel exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. God Bless!
I never get tired of this. It is absolutely amazing. It stirs my Celtic pride and leaves me astonished by the talent that exists in this world. Go raibh mile maith agat!
thanks charlotte for letting us humans know what heaven and paradise look alike, you're not the voice of an angel you are THE ANGEL,beautiful sublime out of this world, thanks again,GOD bless you
What version of the lyrics is this? Obviously it doesn't match the make up lyrics for the movie Zulu. It seems to match closest the Talhaiarn version but the words seem reversed. I know there are at least 4 versions of this song and none of them seem to match this version. Anybody know where I can find these lyrics?
I think she is charming now. A beautiful face to match a beautiful voice. This is a fine example of British Culture, something worth preserving. God save Britain, and Her people.
Hark, I hear the foe advancing Barbed steeds are proudly prancing Helmets in the sunbeams glancing Glitter through the trees. Men of Harlech, lie ye dreaming See ye not their falchions gleaming While their pennons gaily streaming Flutter in the breeze. From the rocks resounding Let the war cry sounding Summon all at Cambreais call The haughty foe surrounding Men of Harlech, on to glory See your banner famed in story Waves these buring words before ye, "Britain scorns to yield!"
I hate to break it to the boys at Rorke's Drift, but you dont need top tenors when you have a lyric soprano such as Ms. Church.... talk about powerhouse voice!...
"Men of Harlech On To Glory - This Will Ever Be Your Story - Keep These Burning Words Before Ye 'Welshmen Will Not Yield!'"
ok sorry to burst ur bubble timii, if your refering to rorkes drift, then it was the warrickshire regiment, after the 1881 reforms it was then the south wales boarderers. though this song and charlotte church are a spectacle of brilliance with the male welsh voice chrior
er sorry to burst your bubble croda1960 the film zulu said 11 vc's was the most VC's won in one battle it was one of the most, 13 vc's were given out tht day. but also there were more won i forget when. but i will tell u all soon

The men and women who sang these songs so long ago, built an Empire with the very same passion!

MadMac2236 - what are you on about??? This is a Welsh song and we were the first victims of English imperial expansion.
