You can learn a lot but most of the learning process is just playing around with stuff. You'll pick it up if you stick with it. FL is a strong program too. I use Reason as well but I actually like fl studio a little more. My only suggestion would be to beef it up. Get some vst plugins and some sample packs that have some HQ drums.

i use to make HUGE amounts of slow dirty south beats.

i use to AS SOON as i opened Fl Studio 9.0 i would set tempo at 85.20

After that i would make a beat using the stuff it gives you at first, then add on different beats and snares and hats, and claps.
