England were well done by the ref as used to happen in Oz before neutral refs. Peter Diamond ran amock throwing head highs but nothing happened until Cliff Watson told the ref if he didn't sort it he would and sure enough he put Diamond on the deck but was sent off.
My Dad took me to this game ,I was 14 yrs . The certain raiser was a game between NSW schoolboys and Papua NG . The SCG will never be beaten as a great venue .I also went to the westsvs Saints grand final with Provan and Summons in the mud 1963. And the grand final beween Saints and Souths with a crowd of 84,000 (approx ) Professionalism has stollen those days away . My all time favourite players .1/ Ian Walsh 2 Reg Gasnier 3/Johnnie Raper 4/ Poppa Clay
