Salam. I believe that you have misunderstood the verse. Its a message to the Prophet so that he may not be sad when he sees that the Kuffar have wealth, sons and beautiful wives. Many verses like this are spread throughout the Quran trying to comfort our Prophet (saw). And Allah knows best. This is according to Tafseer Ibn Katheer. Wassalamu alikum

Salam Alaikum. Yes these are verses to comfort the prophet(saw) but they are also a message to the rest of the muslim world. We read the Quran to learn, understand and find comfort in the truth (God's words).
