  • just tried this and wow colour me impressed. Impressive how it knows just where to sync the audio because the video actually starts after the sound recording and it even knew that...

  • what mic is that? is it good for recording audio?

  • @GabriSennin zoom h4, and yes

  • I've seen some other comments like this... but I recorded drums, the crappy one is still there with my digital recording too, can i mute the video clip but add the new audio?

  • Okay the problem is that you record separate audio because the quality is better. This just combines both the good AND the bad audio. I don't want the other audio. So I just detach the bad audio, delete it and combine the clip and the good audio. But now it's in the timeline. I want it in the source window, but I can't. Making it a compound clip seemed to work, but as soon as I remove it from the timeline, it goes away in the source window. HELP!!!!!

  • This didn't work at all for me. They 2 soundclips didnt match, and the original one recorded with the camera remained audible. So 2 persons talking now sounds like a crowd of people.

    What do i do?

  • i love all your videos but I have two questions:

    1. How do you import external audio?

    2. Can you also import external audio into iMovie "11

  • im sick of every one of my videos having that fucking audio popping sound... WHAT THE EFF.

  • @AlwaysImBored Maybe your external audio is MP3? I used to save the edirol sound as mp3 and it always had popping when imported in Final Cut. I save as WAV and never had that problem again. Instead, I had millions of other problems.

  • Hey tldtoday You Know when people do giveaways ed Soldier know best don't you think they should make a video editing contest.Where they choose the video and you edit it? thumbs up people if you agree

  • The audio from my zoom h2 its super low when i download to my computer, what do i do?..in the zoom itself sounds greats

  • What about the audio from the camera? does it automatically mute it?

  • Thank you. Excellent tutorial, helped me tons!

  • Phenomenal. This could save me a lot fo time.

  • what if my sound file is one long file and I have 3 separate video files. will it still work?

  • Thanks for the tutorial

  • damn. thats good. i was thinking of buying plural eyes or something. thanks for saving me money

  • thank thank you thank you. your the best

  • nice tut

  • thanks - clear and simple!

  • hey what about synchronizing audio and video for music video? cos it will change a several different angles a lot right?

  • very useful - thank you!

  • I'm in love with that feature!!! will save me hours!!!! thanks for the tutorial I was having a hard time figuring out how it worked haha. i always use the secondary click on everything hoping it will be there.

  • Cab this be done with multiple cameras? As in; I have a concert filmed with two cameras, both started at separate times, and then I have an external audio recording. Do I just hold Cmd and select the ext audio as well as the two cameras and then it will still sync?

  • Freaking sweet!

  • @TLDToday - Does it do it through timecode? Will this work with recording from a high quality USB mic on the computer or will I need to do this manually?

  • Is it possible to put projects already made into one big project?

  • Can you automatically synchronize multiple external audio sources to the video with the internal microphone? For example if I have a microphone and an interviewee has another microphone recorder.

  • That sounds like a PAL/NTSC issue. Are you sure you're working with a PAL sequence in FCPX? Hilight your synchronized clip and then click on the inspector (the blue I) click the video tab and that will tell you what you're working with. As an example the first time I did an export it wanted to export as a 1280x720 movie when everything I was working with was 1080p. Changed it in the inspector, and everything worked fine. Basically the inspector is now your way of checking your sequence setting

  • Well, this syncing doesn't work so nicely for me...

When I take a shot from the 7D (1080p, 25 fps) and try to sync it with an audiofile, it converts the video to 23.9xxx frames, messing up the sync... and i can't change the fps afterwards... wtf?!?

  • Found the missing step. As suspected synchronizing two clips with say a DSLR clip with reference audio and your double system sound from a Zoom H4N is a three step process. If you just highlight a DSLR clip and the Zoom audio clip and synchronize the two, it does just that, combines both the reference audio and the Zoom audio in sync with one another. Here's the missing step, highlight the synchronized clip in the media section or if you've edited this clip to the timeline, highlight it there.

  • I've tried this feature out and I don't think fcpx is deleting the reference track audio, it's combining the two. Which I guess would make sense, how would it know which audio track to delete, and of course you don't want both. Theres a missing step here, somehow you have to be able to delete the reference audio track from the synchronized clip leaving your double system sound track synced to the clip.

  • @tubularsensation right click on the "sequence " in the timeline then select "open in timeline" and you using the select tool can adjust the levels between sources - mixing both or eliminating one.....but now how do I do that dynamically across the timeline to boost quiet parts and abate louder parts, like I could in previous Final Cut...

  • Why the resolution is 720p at the export when you have Sync audio. My footage is 1080p at the beginning and it's 720p export when the sync is applied. Any idea ??

  • Anyone interested in getting the developers version of iOS 5 send me a message for further details

  • Loving it

  • if you have a clip of someone rapping and you have a song could you sync that and would final cut pro X match the words with his lips?

  • Can it sync audio from a stereo camera to video from a mono camera replacing the mono. I cant get it to work.

  • Hi i edited my Music Video In adobe premiere and i want to export it out Uncompressed to retain the best quality to Color correct in Final Cut and u plz tell me how to do so?

  • Dang. This isn't working with a long audio file and a bunch of short video files. As an experiment, I used a Zoom recorder connected to an audio board to record a lecture. I recorded the video using a pair of T2is, stopping each every 10 minutes or so because of the 12-minute limit. FCP X is apparently completely overwhelmed by a really long audio file because it's not syncing at all. :( If you have any clever ideas on how to make this work (other than third party software), let me know.

  • I love my zoom H1

the audio syncing feature in FCPX is one of the only redeemable featrues

  • What about a simple audio units EQ plug in? Can you please show what the gui looks like for AU plug ins?

  • I make music videos. I sync the voice to the music using really small adjustments to the video. Therefore i'm going to need to turn off the magnetic time line. Is it possible to do that?

  • how would one do special effects like bullet hits and muzzle flashes (or just layering and keying out footage in general) with FCPX?

  • @MortifiedPuppy Check out Video Copilots Action Essentials 2

  • It seems like this function combines the two audio tracks-- any idea on how to delete the on board sound completely after the sync?

  • @jimkozyra there's a dropdown to the right of left of the tool select button that has "all", "video only", "audio only". (or kb shortcuts option 1, 2, 3)

  • what happens if I need to sync about 15 clips from 3 DSLRs with 1 audiostream? (I filmed an 1-hour interview). Possible?

  • This would be great but does not work with UK version.

  • i have that homer shirt

  • What if you have one long audio clip and lots of small video clips?

  • If you turn off AGC Using Magic Lantern you have a lot less noise in the original footage ;)

  • @thetmyster the 60d has manual audio levels. No magic lantern needed.

  • what if you have 3 cameras you want to sync to one audio clip?

  • Good demo, thanks

  • This does not work nearly as well in a real life use as it does in your example. Thanks for clearing it up, though. I've tried that several times. Automatic really isn't so automatic. And anyone that amazed by it should look into Pluraleyes. Much better version of this feature.

  • Comment removed

  • I might have to buy it just for this feature, it would be soo helpful.

  • MORE FCPX vids! lol

  • What iso do you film on on your 60D?

  • Wow, that is easy :D

  • Do u think it is worth $299 and would u recommend it to others? Will the old FCP be removed on your mac and you will only have the new one or could I have both?

  • @Nk19998 yep, u get to have both, so just in case ur not used to it yet, u still get to revert back to fcp 7.

  • @ibsprintin ok cool thank you!

  • what if the audio clip is longer then the video?

  • whats the difference between Final Cut Pro X and Sony Vegas Pro 10, seriously, i dont know

  • YES!!!! FINAL CUT X! post more tutorials!!!!

  • how can it works? i mean seriously.

  • did you stop weekly apps?

  • Final cut pro x looks awesome!

  • What do you prefer? Imovie or Final Cut?

  • That is a massively cool feature! I mean MASSIVELY!

  • That makes it worth the price alone :).

  • sick vdeo, and i was feeling the live show....good shit

  • very cool.. I really want FCPX and the new iMac!

  • SO, does anyone have a piratebay link to FCPX? :D

  • Me want sooooo bad

  • By far one of the coolest features is FCPX!

  • Hey Jon, thanks for making these videos. I'm just wondering if you can install Final Cut Pro X on multiple machines because I know you can do that with some apps if you login to the mac app store and I don't wanna have to buy it twice for my MBP and iMac. Please let me know so I can choose which one I should get it on. Thank you so much.

    -Ben

  • To make this video complete, you should add the remove humming option and contrast it without it.

  • You lie there is no Tweet it out function.. shame because i would have done as well ;D

  • @SharpeysSkits lol I was generating the link and it's now in the description! :D

  • @tldtoday I will let you off then ;D

  • @SharpeysSkits hey cant be trusted at all

  • SICK SICK. No more clapping and testing the audio that way.

  • Can't wait till I buy and download FInal Cut Pro X tonight! :)

  • awesome video... I'm pumped about Final Cut... Downloading now... should be ready to go after I get off work.

  • It didn't work as well for me.

  • Sick bro!!!

  • I love that feature!

  • I love your videos! (:

  • That's pretty cool. So it's analyzing the two audio clips and matching them up... Sounds like the cam audio track is still there from the hiss. Does this make it a multitrack file where you can turn off the cam track or does it merge the audio together. I'm assuming the former...

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac The hiss is actually a pool filter from the next store neighbor lol. It is actually only the Zoom H1 audio so it replaces it completely.

  • @tldtoday so even if i dont start the camera and mic at the same time ,it should still sync right ?

  • @stavyros exactly :D

  • @tldtoday can sync more than one track? like if I have multiple microphones.

  • @tldtoday Thanks God you are wrong on this one. Based on another video tutorial it syncs but preserves BOTH audio tracks, from video camera and from audio recorder. Later you can choose which one to remove or silence.

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac

It turns it into a multitrack audio file. After the clips are synced, in the inspector you'll see the blue wave form (camera audio) and green wave form(external mic). Just uncheck the blue so all that will be playing is the green.

  • rawsound

  • now i am on top

  • This viedo doesnt have a top rated comment, quick say something funny!
