  • if rtw is so great 4the workers, then y when i lived in boise did i hear this said so often(from my fellow workers)'Who voted this stuff in anyway?Wasn't me." n "how did it become right 2work in the 1st place?we didn't get a vote about it."the WORKERS IN BOISE DIDN'T HAVE A SAY/THEIR POLITICIANS/STATE CONGRESS VOTED IT IN.THE REGULAR WORKERS DID NOT LIKE THE RIGHT TO WORK CRAP.but once it's in,can't b reversed.they need 2let the citizens/workers vote 4it or not.not the state congress politicians

  • There's a big problem with all this crap about working for less. The unions claim to fame is getting more pay and perks for workers, right? The right to work still allows unions to make their case, and for workers to make that choice. So that means that something doesn't fit here. Either the pay and perks aren't as bad as claimed,or the unions can't do what they say. But wages aren't the true story, it's disposable income- and most rtw states have a lower cost of living AND more cash left over.

  • and ur wages will be kept as lo as possible. n when ur there too long n making what they think is too much, ur gone. in right to work states there is no such thing as JOB SECURITY. NONE. it's the businesses putting their boot on the necks of the little guys/ the workers. masters n slaves anyone?the have's n the have nots. new age of american slavery....seen it with my own eyes.

  • RIGHT TO WORK WORKERS HAVE LESS POWER N PROTECTION THAN WORKERS LIVING IN A NON RIGHT TO WORK STATES.THERE'S 23 RIGHT TO WORK STATES,AND I LIVED IN ONE OF EM.BUT NOT 4VERY LONG.I GOT OUT ASAP. IT'S A REAL SLAP IN THE FACE WAT THEY GET AWAY WITH IN RITE 2 WORK STATES. AFTER THEY FIRE U FOR WATEVER LIE THEY COME UP WITH,THEN THEY BLOCK UR UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIM.u'll have to go to court n pray u get lucky.all the laws n protection is on the side of the businesses, not the workers.new age of slavery.ew

  • if you dont want to pay dues get a job thats not union and make less but dont mess with those who do pay

  • Where do I sign to get this revoked?? What can we do?? This affects my ENTIRE family! =[

  • if u wanna be in a union and pay union dues thats fine. No one should have to force anyone else to be in a union. Why not have the freedom of choice to choose whether or not you want to be in a union?

  • @KripDrip

That's fine..That's called "Agency Shop" and it works well.In that situation, the worker refusing to pay dues is also refusing representation. In an RTW jurisdiction, that non paying "member" still has all the rights to representation, even though they don't have to pay for it...So called Free Ride Members. This is the crux of RTW...To financially break the backs of individual union locals...By design,of course, from the likes of the NAM and the Koch Bros.Pverty inducing free marketeers

  • @Kleigh2050 I LIVED IN A RIGHT TO WORK STATE. IDAHO. and moving there from a non right to work state was like living in the bizarro world. black was white, up was down etc. RIGHT TO WORK LETS THE BUSINESSES GET AWAY WITH ALOT MORE.THEY TREAT THE WORKERS LIKE WORTHLESS PEASANTS,COMMON TRASH. IF UR A MANAGER, U'R GOOD. IF NOT, u will have less rights n protection under right to work. they will keep the wages as low as possible.any workers they think make 2much-they come up wit a lie n FIRE THEM!

  • I am a little split with right to work. I mean Unions can be a good thing, but in my home town unless you are related to someone working in those Union factories you are not going to get a job.

  • @AtomicHoosier Something everyone doesn't understand.... the unions have set the precedence for ALL work... not just union work. It's why you have rights as an employee, why there is no child labor, why you can't be fired (legally) for no reason, why minimum wage isn't 2 bucks an hour... so many things that the unions have brought to the working force whether you are a union member or not.

  • You know some of those signatures were fraudulent, right?

  • @Addict20091976 Nothing wrong with greed. We're all greedy. There are two kinds of people - Makers and Takers. There are Makers and Takers on every rung of the socioeconomic ladder. Steve Jobs was wealthy, a 1%er, and a Maker. He created wealth for himself and many many others. He was a boon to humanity. People who use political clout and thuggery to take wealth for themselves are Takers, the bane of humanity. Public sector employees often fall in this category.

  • Unions have contributed tremendously to non-union members. The 401k, investment profolio, IRA etc. you talk about CAME by the way of unions collectively bargaining before all that to get a voice or more from the profitable company. Unions are still needed in the U.S.A; however, they need to follow more of a German model of unionization. Much of what we take for granted -- i.e., the weekend, 8 hour day, maternity leave, dental care, healthcare, 401k, paid vacation, sick days etc came thru Unions.

  • In 2003, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, said, "...President {Reagan} invoked the law that striking government employees forfeit their jobs, an action that unsettled those who cynically believed no President would ever uphold that law. President Reagan prevailed, as you know, but far more importantly his action gave weight to the legal right of private employers, previously not fully exercised, to use their own discretion to both hire and discharge workers."

  • Now the Republicans want to take out the public sector, pit the private sector unions against public sector and the economy to their advantage

  • When President Reagan fired the govenment PATCO union in 1981 he invoked the Act of Taft-Hartely of 1947 to fire them. The union had violated Federal law (which it did) but he stated that he was in favor of private sector unions to strike and redress their grievances. This action, however, embolden businesses to fire/threaten/blackmail private union workers -- they took the toll whereas public sector unions grew.

  • the problem wiht unions is that the leadership is quite often corrupt. if unions can get rid of the leadership internally, then the union workers would get better deals.

  • Thomm the unions have traditionally opposed campaign finance reform laws, and the lack of campaign finance reform is what helped many of the people you criticize get to power

  • Thomm all you have to say is that he was the budget director for the Bush White House

  • I really like @RussiaToday: regular news, guests, @MaxKeiserTV (even @AdamVsTheManRT, sniff, sniff). But this guy is ridiculous. This is propaganda: 'if 60% decide to unionize (w/o regard for the employer), the other 40% have the "absolute right" to go work "anywhere else"'. Employers are "terrible" for firing folks sometimes. What just happened when that shop unionized? The union _fired_ their coworkers! There're reasons why so many despise unions. If unions were so good, everyone would join.

  • This has to be one the dumbest ways I have ever wasted 6mins of my life. Unions are more than a decade past their need. They are hindrance to business, And what this bloke neglected to tell you, as he almost tripped over the step, is that JOBS, GROWTH, and GDP go UP in RTW states. Companies want to come to RTW to set up shop because they are sick of dealing with the union bullshit.

  • @BamaSuxHrd1s unions represent a majority of the population, the owners of a company are the minority. in most cases, is there any debate in that statement? when you go to work, is it not a private dictatorship? yet we claim to live in a democracy. how ironic. we get a 'democracy' by voting in a politician once in a while. when i spend most of my time in a private dictatorship, i dont live in a democracy...

  • @lee0122333 Do you have a 401k? How about an IRA? Investment portfollio? Money Market account? Long-term savings certificate? If you answer is 'yes' to any of the above, that makes you an owner of a corporation. And unfortunately falsifies your statement that owners are a minority. Owners are shareholders are everyday people, oftentimes union members themselves. Unions ARE the minority. The rest of your statement is correct.

  • @BamaSuxHrd1s sort've, but its an illusion, and yes i have some of those things. who are the majority share holders more often than not???? when i mean unions as a minority i mean in terms of any job that has a union. i mean that employees are the majority and employers are the minority usually, and that the employees need more power through a union which means uniting. i phrased it poorly in my first message. unions are at 7% of hte workforce in america right now which as low as ever.

  • @BamaSuxHrd1s and yes unions have to play 'dirty' sometimes because they know damn well they have to influence their employers. its just a power struggle between the few who are rich and the many who are poor and deserve more money. i agree owners of companies deserve to make more than the employees but the question is HOW MUCH MORE?

  • @BamaSuxHrd1s "that makes you the owner of hte corporation". i dont agree with that statement because what decisions to i have on that corporation? you tell me because im not the expert. i assume it means i would own a percentage (usually small) of that company but i have no control over it. the system (not specific to what i just said) is obviously flawed for hte majority because we know damn well its not working for the majority.

  • They wouldnt have the balls to do this in NY state. Everyone I know is in a union of some type. They all have great health benefits that I wish I had but I dont have a union. I guess thats the difference.

  • The Rich and Wealthy leech off the middle class and the poor. Only Unions can organize and push back against these Bandits. The trickle down effect is just a Ruling Class trick to not have to pay their fair share. Tuition needs to be free like high school ! Existing tuition debt needs to be forgiven. We need a 1% WALL ST SALES TAX (Tobin Tax) as France is calling for to pay for it all !

  • @bigsugar999 The poor are poor because they don't produce wealth, so by definition the poor are leeches.

  • Unions leech off the middle class. Who pays the higher pay and benefits of union workers? The working class, through higher prices. Imagine all workers were unionized in the US - then the prices for all goods and services would be higher, and your higher wages wouldn't do you any good. Actually, it would be worse than that - union leaders would be living high on the hog, thanx to you union dues, and that would raise prices even more.

  • I was never clear about this- thanks for the explanation. One thing I AM quite clear on- everyday things get worse for lower income people- or NO income people in the USSofA...maybe one day soon the workers will rise up...not likely

  • Ah shit just when I thought it couldn't get any worse in this shit hole state >> Fuck this shit im moving to Vermont or back to Poland. >>

  • Probably inspired by the Von Mises Institute, the people who advocate "a child's right to work".

  • Unions need serious reform, some need to be broken up and reorganized, and yes they're are many that are highly corrupt. But to say they are obsolete is a dream come true for corporate America. Without unions corporations just run right over us as they have done for the past 30 years, All this thanks to Mcarthyist/Reagan scamonomics...

  • @jd007200 The union of lobbyists is the most corrupt of all and needs to be broken up and restrained. It's because of them that this is happening.

  • @Lynx787

Yes and no, I think corporate lobbying I think is 10x worse. Because corporations have way more money than unions. And thus far more power. but as I said both need to be broken up, due to massive corruption. Especially all the scum on K street!

  • I am not anti-union, but they're broken just the same as our government. Union reps, like politicians, should not receive higher pay and better benefits than those they represent.

  • Of course this has been the repubs and corps plan for decades .So here we are with no jobs and the corps and their repub whores have workers right where they want them ! Or so they think.Workers Unite Fight Back !

  • thats scary i live here in indy

  • "Right to Work" = Modern day Orwellian Newspeak

  • Missouri has been trying to fuck over people with the right to work too. Fortunately, people have been fighting back in union strongholds like St. Louis.

  • BINGO !!!
