Thank you. I've welled up with emotion and tears watching this video. Reminds me how much we've lost in such a small amount of time. It breaks my heart our once prosperous and highly educated nation is now a dirty, poverty stricken backwater. Where we once had scholars and intellectuals, we now export a labor force that works in neighbouring countries as servants, waitering staff, and beggars. It makes me so angry at the incompetence of our government and the wasted generations.
Thanks for the video. Let's have more videos like this. I agree with many commentators here. However, wherever & whenever we'e been educated, we ourselves are accountable for the level of our education. Relying on teachers only is not enough for one's intellectual development. We must be able to find & exploit available resources such as libraries, the radio or the internet effectively. We must read extensively & intensively. We also need to think not just accepting everything in books blindly.
We, new generations of Myanmar, should try hard to get back the times like those. Nobody can live longer than they should. The time would come for us. We can rebuild our ideal education system for future generation if we prepare ourselves right now. The power to reform is in our hands.
I'm so proud so much .. that kind of University we have before we born .. but now ............ i am so shame about our university ..... :( Keep try hard people .......... be the best always .... Oh .. Burma
Does anybody have the rest of the program "Burma, Buddhism, and Neutrality"? I really want to see it all now.
It's interesting to note that a great deal of the university students (at least in that lecture hall) are women. Says a lot about Burmese culture and education for women.
That was a great video lecture... It was also a perfect evidence of how one of the most Asia prosperous nations in 1900s fell into ruin under negative political frame of work done by Ne Win and his successors... It shares enormous regrets, and tears to many Burmese as looking back those days....
In 1964, all private & mission schools were forced to be public school by so called revolutionary council lead by Ne Win.This is the beginning of the end of Burma's education. Now all the brains of Burma go, went, gone........and drained.
i am very happy and delighted when i see this. One thing i recognize is that most of the myanmar sonud the same when we speak english. So, don't be shy guys. talk it up.
I am totally suprised that I had never known before about my country' high education system. There were good tutors and good teaching systems in Burma before. If we still have these kinds of education in Burma, why do anyone needs to go abroad. Why do young students need to live separately from their families.I know it is almost impossible to get back these days...however,we are still waiting for the days like in this clip in our country.I am really inspired by this clip. Thanks for uploading it.
i m proud of it really.. but i really amaze how this kind of high education system has alrdy totally changed to very low level.. i cant think why this happened to burma.. ppl always look down on whenever they hear abt burma..and they dont know burma had very good images in history.. all d best wishes for burma..
thz for sharing... this video clip tells us so many things... it reminds me that we should try our best so that our country would b glorious again as it was once in the history... most burmese people used to say how Burma was in the history, how burmese were brillient & how Burma stood in the history... we should get rid of that bad habbit of showing off the history & should try at the present time so that our generations could b proud of Burma akso in the future...
As from the clip, Burma was a leading position in formation of a ASEAN.
Hope, SPDC's officers, especially who are in overseas would see this clip. Burma was a glorious country before fall into soldiers hands. People of Burma try in vain to safe Burma from hell, but today so called Tatmataw men are cowardly dragging her back to Hell. Shame on those officers who salute Gen Than Shwe. Waiting for a second Gen Aung San? No way to see among these coward officers.
Thanks lynaung, it's best document I've ever seen on YouTube. Could you upload more, please. There are many articles and comments about this clip in many blog and web sites. The best article of this clip in maungyin blogspot.

The most admired education system in South East Asia was destroyed in 1962 by Bo Ne Win's military rule and totally finished off by Bo Than Shwe.
