They just have those songs, Radiohead doesn't. The best Radiohead has is like grunge. @farizzal They might have a slightly harder sound if that's what you like, but I'd still take Radiohead's "rock" songs over Muse any day. They're just better songs. "Rocking hard" by itself doesn't make a song better. I like Muse, but there is just no comparison at all.

The intro to Bliss and the ending riff of Knights of Cydonia are good rock shit, the best Radiohead has is the breakdown of Just (IMO) and a few other songs on the best, which just don't cut it on the rock level.

@RToffler I think it's Muse fans pissing people off by saying Muse is some sort of entreprenerur of a new sound...Nowadays u hear many fans making Muse out to be some sort of "new sound". I like Muse personally, but understand why so many ppl are annoyed with and hate Muse. I dont think it's hate towards the band itself but hate towards the IGNORANT ASS FANS of Muse who claim them to be OH SO original and creatores of a "NEW" sort of music...a sort of music that's been around long before them.

I like Muse. I think they're talented. I also think they're hacks. I can pretty much guarantee that they'll never release an album anywhere near as good or influential as the Bends or OK computer.

@canadiangalzo What the heck? Muse is a dumbed-down wannabe prog addition to any british scene bullsh*t that complete idiots can listen to and feel like they're listening to something intelligent. When you listen to Radiohead you are sophisticated, because for most people their music is really hard to get into, I didn't like them the first time I heard them, but they grew on me.

Ugh. Please radiohead play coachella again. Seeing Radiohead at Coachella would just be too much awesomeness at once I might actually pass out.
Anyway, Muse is cool but Radiohead is Radiohead. It's not an insult to Muse to say "you are awesome but no radiohead". There is only one Radiohead.

You can probably emulate it pretty well with just a tremolo and a phaser. I know Jonny used his Small Stone and a home made tremolo a lot circa The Bends.

Muse has the power that Radiohead doesn't that's the only thing keeping me from saying that one is better than the other totally. They are both better in certain aspects, but overall neither is better completely imo.

@ukhouseRJ lol. first of all, turn off your caps lock, it makes you look like a drunk redneck. Second of all, even though Radiohead has better music, Muse can rock harder. They just have those songs, Radiohead doesn't. The best Radiohead has is like grunge. Muse has songs like Knights of Cydonia, Take a Bow, Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria, that are fucking epic, hard rock songs. Radiohead doesn't do that. So that is where muse has them beat.

@farizzal They might have a slightly harder sound if that's what you like, but I'd still take Radiohead's "rock" songs over Muse any day. They're just better songs. "Rocking hard" by itself doesn't make a song better. I like Muse, but there is just no comparison at all.

@Kidchair sometimes "rocking hard" to a song is what makes it better for certain people. The intro to Bliss and the ending riff of Knights of Cydonia are good rock shit, the best Radiohead has is the breakdown of Just (IMO) and a few other songs on the best, which just don't cut it on the rock level.

@farizzal What about Bodysnatchers? One of Radiohead's best riffs. I guess I see your point, if all you want to do is rock out to riffs. Muse does have some great riffage.
Overall though, Radiohead is the better band. Even among the myriad of bands spawned in Radiohead's wake, Muse doesn't even top that heap I'm afraid.

@Kidchair yea that is a good one too. I would say Radiohead is better musically, but Muse are better live cuz of the hard rock advantage. I love Radiohead, but when I am done listening to mellow stuff I go to Muse. When I want to rock out and headbang (cuz I play guitar also) then I am gonna listen to Slayer, not Andy Williams. lol. Radiohead are better overall, but they aren't "on another level" or anything, I hate when people are like OMFG HOW CAN YOU EVEN COMPARE MUSE TO RADIOHEAD -_-.

@farizzal I haven't seen Radiohead live yet, but I did see Muse a couple months ago and it was a fabulous show, they are amazing live.
I personally think Radiohead is on a higher level than most other bands around, but they are my favorite band ever of course, so naturally I'd say that : )
