@skarpzor Correction $600-$700 for a semester so $1300 for 1 year. These are called Junior Colleges. They are the cheapest and then you can transfer to a 4 year college and do your last two years. Yale and such are a lot more. We have grants and scholarships. for kids that are poor and kids that are smart. In some US states you can get your college totally paid for with only a average grades.

These companies sold on their name only for so many years. They quit doing any real R&D. I feel sorry for the factory floor employees. I don't feel sorry for GM, Ford or Chrysler. They wanted to completely free of any uncumberances from the citizens or government but when they got themselves in trouble they wanted to be bailed out. Should have let them fail and then conducted criminal investigations into why they failed. Probably are lots of Managers who belong in prison over it.

The golden age actually wasn't that golden.

Interm they had to put a dramatic raise in Taxes cause a slow ride of economic progression.
If FDR had cut taxes to almost nothing than the people would have had more money to pump into the economy.

What I fail to comprehend is why they do not realize that they are cutting their own throats by tossing the workers on the streets......Not just the Auto-industry, but esp. them, live off of the salaries of the worker as Ford realized. What good is 100% profit for me and bonuses for my staff........if I dont have customers that can afford to buy my product. Something AINT right here. THat goes for homes, appliances, and clothes wear. et. al.

What the hell is wrong with you kids? If the gov keeps giving everyone freebees no one works and things get worse. The worse is because you can live without producing so you do and it does. Socialism ends in everyone being equally poor like in Cuba and the former USSR and Chile. Extreme Capitalism is when we all become cogs in a tyrantical wheel. @lonewolfmilitia. Jeez, US isn't even the most capitalist nation. In the Netherlands, public socialized housing doesn't exist: all are private. Healthcare in that nation is a lot cheaper despite being largely private. The Scandinavians have a much lower corporate tax than the United States as well.

@raptorkiller2k5 what? 80 % of the housing in the Netherlands exists of socialized public housing which depends on your annual income. 5 % are buyers who are protected with guaranteed mortgages of the govt. Only 15 % exists of private housing which is also is under regulated by the govt. Healtcare is cheaper because we pay for it by taxes. Believe me The Netherlands is a socialist democracy. You should try it in the usa

@gulsie21 I would move there in a second. As a registered nurse, I have a skill that is applicable almost anywhere, it's just in shithole America one cannot get ahead enough to even have that option. Your country has provided a great example of how to succeed without screwing over the people, the rest of the world chooses to ignore this; too hard to get filthy rich at the expense of the people any other way. Wish I was there and looking at this from the outside rather than trapped within.

Take a look at my country and take some ideas from countries that actually work, My country is Sweden you can also check out Norway and Denmark. If you feel a bit more conservative then you can check out Finland. We are welfare states with a social free market economy, yes more free than USA. "Nordic model", Gogo look.

You do understand that you can mix and take from other ideas that are better than the once you currently have right?. We in Sweden base our economy on free market, extremely open, close to no regulations, high tax. We base our welfare on obviously some Socialist ideas to take all that money and spread it. We got 20% of the wealthiest holding 40% of the wealth. bit better than 1% holding 95%+ as in US.

Well the income tax is 35% the tax we don't see makes it 60%, So it's high, cause we believe in taking care of the poor, Universal health-care, Helping new company's start. building the worlds best infrastructure. having the worlds best childcare. These are but a few things we want and that we pay for. Having a good country cost's money, i love paying my tax you get up to 85% back with pension and other programs.

Now why don't we have corporations running wild treating people like shit?. How come when in Sweden when you get pass your 6 month trial it's close to impossible to fire you. well that's cause we have strong unions, Our corporations might be strong, but you can't fuck with the unions, they will literally destroy you if you do. I knew 2 guys that were fired from my work, during a trial employment, the union checked the papers, they got full time job 2 days later. Unions for the people.

We also believe strongly in growing in the field you are working for, we put a lot of money into educating people in the same field they are working. So be loyal and you grow fast, good motivator. we got a better system than you. learn from it.

@skarpzor I agree, you have it pretty good in Sweden but you were Socialist and caving in and you are now moving towards capitalism. You still have a horrible healthcare system and cannot pay extra to get faster care. One of your secrets is that you are a population of similars and a fairly good natured people. Your gov is somewhat efficient and welcome and ours is a joke. The USA is a mix of race and cultures with vast differences of opinion. A collection of countries/states but little unity.

@lonewolfmilitia We are not moving towards capitalism by lowering regulations for free trade yes, It's impossible to remove the social programs we have, the welfare we have, it's in the structure of our country. We got horrible healthcare?, we got a great universal healthcare system. i dont know what else to say to that since it's a lie that its horrible. If rich can pay for faster care then we got same as yours, the rich get it all poor get nothing. Wont happen.

@lonewolfmilitia I dont accept a socialist economy, i believe it will lower the wealth of the entire country and we did lower regulations in the 90's and we are now the fastest growing nation in Europe. Thats why we are a Capitalist welfare state. So we use the capitalist ideas for the wealth, we use the socialist ideas for the happiness and wellbeing of our people.

@skarpzor Your a kid. You do not get sick and have none of the physical issues that come along. In a socialist system you have to go to a Capitalist state to get treatment. That is what Canada does! The young scream wonderful and the sick borrow money and head for the USA. Your waitibf time sometimes results in death. As you see, now we are trying to repeal Obamacare because we the people to not want it. And that is the bottomline. Hope it works but your communist party has other plans!

Our waiting time never result in death, if you have a serious illness you wont have to wait in line, it just does not happen. have it occurred? yes it have, because of wrong diagnostics. but you know what does result in death?, Not getting help ever. that will kill you.

I have a close friend that got cancer, he had around the clock care. yes it does happen to young people. Hes alright now. It cost him around 4 000 kr, sounds a lot?, well it's 1.5 week of the salary he got when he was sick. If he did not have work it would have been free. Your healthcare system is a failure. We did have high regulation and a Social democratic run economy, it's not the same thing, but yes in the economy sector we are privatizing and opening up a lot. But the government is support the unions and it cant run wild and destroy our country as in America. Welfare is in our structure, wont change.

I'm still in shock that you said our healthcare is in anyway horrible. It's horrible cause we cant pay extra for faster care?. So if you cant pay more you will be put further back in line?. @skarpzor For much of the 20th century, Sweden had a single-payer system of health care in which the government paid almost all health care costs. Like other nations with a single-payer system, Sweden has had to deal with the problem of ever-growing health care expenses causing a strain on government budgets. It has dealt with this problem by rationing health care, instituting waiting lists for medical appointments and surgery.....Everyone gets emergency care + surgery in the USA.

It does not put heavy strain on our budget, we had a lot of money left of our last years health budget, don't really know what exactly you are talking about. Everyone get's emergency care and surgery in USA?, never heard of it ever happen. I'm sure it have, but it's nothing common. Emergency care is what it is. @skarpzor it is the law here in the USA. You cannot deny urgent or emergency care to anyone in the USA. That is the truth! Who told you otherwise. It is also the law we must educate even illegals children. We also give them free lunch even when school is out. We have food banks and welfare, food stamps and charities. Our Churches give Billlions away. We have meals on wheels and sillions of programs. We have soup kitchens. You can roll up to a food bank and get a box load of food, free.

@skarpzor It is federal law so in all 50 states education is free 5 yrs old to 18 or K-12. You can cross the border illegally and sign your kids up for school that day. Free and the poor kids get free lunch in California.
In California first 2 years of college is $1300 and you can borrow it or get free money grants.

College prices is not $1300 for every single college, I mean Yale for example is a tiny bit more expensive. Right?. Still i learned something new. Thanks

@skarpzor Correction $600-$700 for a semester so $1300 for 1 year. These are called Junior Colleges. They are the cheapest and then you can transfer to a 4 year college and do your last two years. Yale and such are a lot more. We have grants and scholarships. for kids that are poor and kids that are smart. In some US states you can get your college totally paid for with only a average grades.

@skarpzor I now agree with you that Sweden is a great place to live but for me, if you paid my way over and set me up it would still not be for me. It is 71F here today and what is Stockholm, freezing? Also, I would not wish to be unarmed. Also in the USA you can be rich without a formal education. My son did not finish High School. Big house, pool, jacuzzi,4 new vehicles, 3 rolex watches, ordering a mercedes from Germany, kids in expensive private school, every electronic device known to man.

We have a strong industry that needs a lot of manual labor, Nothing wrong with some good honest work.I did it myself for some years and the money is insane. I mean the money is so good when it comes to hard manual labor, some even goes to Norway to help them out in the fish industry. Lot's of it going around and the money is really good.

@skarpzor I hope you did not think we leave people laying on the street without food or medical. That is not the way it is here. I have driven up to the food bank in my $35,000 truck and they gave me a lot of food. I showed no ID and I do not think I even had to sign a paper. Just say you need food and it is yours. Cheap food but what most of America eats.
