  • To get the Mark Hoppus Tone on almost any Bass is put the mids on 0 or lower depending on your bass amp, Put your Treble on 10, Bass on 7-10

  • My ears just orgasmed

  • assuming i were to buy this bass, how do i get that smiley-face fret inlay on it?

  • @mrchildsplay3 They dont sell this model anymore this is the 2001 model i believe. The model they sell now in the 2011 version not much different i have it sounds amazing i would recomend anyone getting this bass with a ampeg bass amp couldn't ask for a better sound. Also the blink smileys are pretty much stickers mate ive seen them on websites like ebay... would ruin the basses wood if you ask me :)

  • ...Meanwhile, at Primus...

  • i don't see what the moanings about, its recording their best song with a better bass... sound pretty cool to me :L

  • everybody know how to set up the bass amp so the sounds is exactly like this?

  • What's so lol about everyone saying that there's nothing special about the riff. Or even those saying that blink sucks and that the music they make sucks compared to like.. I dunno other good shit people. The lol about everything is that it doesn't take crazy riffs or out there solos to make a song. Just well placed harmony and song structure, Like The Beatles. You guys just made cause they ruled 98 to 01and are still the shit. Suck it.

  • nothing special this bass playing

  • Im pretty sure he is aware the song is feeling this, he is just showing you what the song sounds like on the new bass, jesus christ lol.

  • How do you get that kind of sound out of the recording? Anyone know what else he does to make it sound so amazing on the cds?

  • HE MAKES IT SEEM SO SIMPLE! CURSE YOU MARK HOPPUS FOR YOUR TALENT AND UNDENIABLE GOOD LOOKS!

  • Same progression, different way. I guess it's acceptable as a different song. A bunch of other people do it anyway.

  • They arent a technical band let's put it that way. Travis is the only one that makes in technical and thats what keeps the band together really. Just like Pink Floyd the bassist plays simple parts while the guitar and keyboards plays all that crazy shit. It keeps the song evened out so not one person gets all the glamor or a bunch of instruments playing a lot of notes and sounding like shit. I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT SO DONT TELL ME OTHERWISE.

  • Check out my bass cover of Feeling This by blink

  • Thats got t be the most beautiful sound in the world

  • HOLLY SHIT

  • this was so easy i learned it on bass. I LOVE marks style, its simple and it sounds GREAT

  • I LOVE THE THIS BASS!!! -3

so legit. And for those asking about the bass line. Read the description :)

  • its an American that he uses. look at it.

  • does mark hoppus use marshalls?

  • @bluedude801 No hahaha

  • @imnotjesusmrlamaDUCK ya there ampegs

  • @bluedude801 No, Ampeg heads and cabs

  • I got his surf green color P Bass a few months ago and I LOVE IT. Amazing punk tone out of an ampeg head and you're all set.

  • just pooped a little

  • i need to know if this bass is worth it, my friend knows a guy who has one in great condition for $200 would you buy it???

  • @sirduckfuck if its a legit fender mark hoppus signature i'd say go for it. the bass costs around 900-1000$ new so i would say 800$ less is worth it. the bass itself is somewhat limited. it has only a volume knob so tone cannot be controlled on the bass directly (however a nice amp solves that problem). The bass is perfect for playing pop-punk, punk, rock. being a huge fan i say buy it, i dont play bass (i play guitar) but i would.

  • @sirduckfuck Don't even doubt it. I have a 2009 model and if u can get one for 200$ it's total win. If the bass is in great condition as you say then you should totally get it

  • @blinkMATIC thanks, i think i'lll go for it, i have a jazz bass but i need some different tone, thanks again!

  • i have that pink bass

  • i have the hoppus bass and the ampeg SVT on a ampeg 4x10 and i never got the sexy hoppus tone

  • mark always plays the best basslines

  • EPICNESS

  • where did you get this?

  • this may be a stupid question but, does mark play a Fender Jazz-Bass?

  • @RustleXer He plays a custom Precision Bass.

Its an Alder Jazz Bass Body, With A Precision Bass Neck, And 1 Seymore Duncan SP3 Quarter Pound Split Coil Precision Bass Pickup

  • @aLm0st77 ....wouldn't have guessed it haha! cheers mate :)

  • @RustleXer haha its all good, not many people know anyway.

  • when it showed the neck with the sign i felt so freaking happy

  • a fender percusiin or jazz

  • mhm! i really like the sound of that bass! maybe i should order it? :>

  • this is feeling this right?

  • ya its feeling this lol

  • Im feeling this!

  • can some body tap up until 0:22

  • hey, don't know if you even want to know it ^^ but i think its E - B - C# - B , just repeat this.. timings and how often you have to play the note... i think you will get it ;)

  • Anyone wanna message me how to get a good mark hoppus bass sound? mine sounds pretty good but i'd like some suggestions how to get a good sound:)

  • anyone wanna message me how to get a good sound like his? mine sounds close but i'd like some suggestions from someone plz:)

  • Ziphoblat, shut the fuck up!

Listen to the bass lines in really really old blink stuff (Flyswatter EP) and then try to say he's talentless.

You have no idea what you're talking about, just because he isn't doing completely crazy shit all the time, doesn't mean he can't.

Also, listen to the bass line in "Something I call personality" by New Found Glory, he played the bass in that, and that is a fucking sweet bass line.

  • Can anyone tell me how to get that tone? I have a small Fender 15W Rumble and a Squier MB-4 with single-coil P-Bass pickups.

  • semore duncan quarter pound p bass pick ups

  • i usally put my bass and treble all the way and keep the mid in the middle

  • I'm not sure when this video was posted, but if its recent its not new. The song played is Feeling This

  • You do know it's possible to re record songs, right?

Mark re recorded the verse and chorus of feeling this with both his old signature bass, and his new signature bass. This was done in April 2009.

  • was this actual bassline on the original?

    if so it's barely audible

    lool.

  • @BlinkFreak18232 so , he can just re record it? use your brain

  • it'd be sick to get one of these, jazz bass body with p bass pick ups and neck, one of a kind (literally), if i only had a spare grand in the pocket...

  • I like the sound of Lettuce much more. Bottom end on the E is more full.

  • true, cause i liked every song on take off you pants and jacket :)

  • mark has them reversed on his actually basses the just havent updated his signature models yet

  • the 2nd one is BAMF!

    and is this Feeling This?

  • Is this gunna go on sale caus i want it so much?

  • God damn shut the fuck up. You motherfuckers that come to blink videos just to start shit are retarded obviously you were looking up blink-182 in the first place just to find videos and bitch and start stupid crap. So fuck all of you. Don't hate on Mark or Tom or Travis because i don't see you out there in a famous band obviously they have some talent or no body would give a shit about them.

  • we have the right to express our own opinions, that's what the comments are for

  • @robertdtfff While I do thinkthat Blink-182 is an amazing band, your statement about if they didn't have talent, no one would like them is false. Look at "artists" like Asking Alexandria and I hate to bring up Justin Bieber, but he's a good example.

  • @robertdtfff FUCK BLINK 180-WHO?........See?..... I totaly gave a shit.

  • is that bass for sale?

  • yeah

  • not yet.

  • feeling thi. the recording is two basslines. so i guess thats the down part on playing only what you actually can. awesme bass. but does anyone know why he has an octopus?? is that his favorite....creature?? haha

  • im not sure about the octopus but i think that is their new brand for clothing like Atticus, i may be wrong...

  • youre right man..:/

    i love em too!!!

  • i dont think this is a new bass line ... i think its actually the song feeling this

  • lol, yes it is feeling this. But he recorded it with a new bass guitar, the one shown in the video.

  • oh ok .. haha lol

  • where the heck did you get this bass?

  • it has a very good sound"

  • feeling this

  • This is a cool sound.

  • I'm sorry, but you can't claim that this guy is a good bassist.

No good bass player would put themselves through the suffering of playing something this boring.

The most impressive thing I've heard him play is Carousel, which he can't play without sitting down. I could play that 2 months after learning bass.

For good punk rock bass check out Rancid, Toy Dolls, and even some older Green Day stuff.

Or for good bass generaly; Rush. Now that's talent.

Also, this tone was pretty mediocre tbh.

  • Let us know when you're as successful as he is.

    kthxbye

  • I'm not disputing his success.

Simply correcting these idiots claiming he has talent.

    "kthxbye"

  • He does have talent, I think you're just not a blink-182 fan. It seems like you're getting caught up in the "hate on blink-182 because it's cool" thing. But that's cool, everyone's got their own opinion of course.

  • Wrong. I don't dislike the band, I listen to them. I think you'll find though, the main victim of the "hate this band because it's cool" trend is Green Day.

However, I'm sick and tired of people claiming that people are full of talent simply because they're in a band that they like. All Mark Hoppus does the majority of the time is play root notes. There's nothing about that that's new, original, or skillful. Anyone could do it.

  • I know that's what he does in their songs. He is very skillful though, it just doesn't suit the music, so he keeps it chill.

And of course, you won't be listening to just bass, so it works just fine because there's drums and guitar too.

Don't tell me you're one of the people who says Travis Barker sucks too....

  • Send me a video link to a video of Mark Hoppus playing something that requires talent, and then your point is proven. Otherwise stop making void claims. To say the music doesn't suit good bass playing is incorrect. No harm in the odd bass run, just check out Joe Principe from Rise Against.

Also, I have nothing against Travis Barker. He clearly has talent (unlike Mark Hoppus), though I find his drumming in most Blink songs, nothing short of irritating.

  • your a faggot

  • Dude

Do you have any idea what you're talking about?

This Guy Writes these bass lines and he sings.

Why dont you do something like that?

  • Comment removed

  • check out mark hoppus 2009 bass solo and youll see his skill Ziphoblat

  • stop trying to start a fight you dumb cunt

  • blink as a band is awesome, but mark hoppus as a bassist...he just isn't that good, doesn't mean that he isn't awesome....

  • he is a good bassist, but his lines aren't complicated because in the majority of songs he sings, you hav to bare that in mind people, like Ziphoblat was saying about Green Days Bassist, as far as i know he doesn't put a big input into the vocals. The music goes with the songs, they have made some of the best rock songs of all time(in my opinion), they are all talented, and also help out with eachothers bits, so end of.

  • Does it really take that much away from the music though? Is it enough to stop you from enjoying the music? If it is, I suggest you find something else that you and your excellence deem worthy.

  • ok no more commenting for you Ziphodouche. you dont come on my video and call me an idiot.

  • @Sisko182 wooooo go aiden .... if thats how u spell it

  • @Ziphoblat You need to suck it easy hoe.

  • @Ziphoblat you shouldnt be alive

  • @Ziphoblat hey faggot, talent doesnt mean skill. Mark Hoppus may not be the best bassist in the world, but he writes the best music in the world. So stfu and stop trolling... Jeez... -__-

  • the reason he plays carousel sitting down is because he has his bass hanging so low. and he's a good pop/punk bassist so he's not gonna do overly complicated stuff. i'm not trying to insult you i was just making a statement. your entitled to your opinion.

  • Bro.

sure, the riffs that Tom and Mark come up with might not be the most complex riffs ever recorded in music history.

sure, Tom's playing isn't as technical as say, Steve Vai or John Frusciante, and Mark's playing isn't as technical as say, Marcus Miller.

But you can't say they don't have talent.

if you can put a few power chords and bass lines together with lyrics about something as simple as a first date and have it come out an AMAZING song every single time, you have some talent.

  • Yup

  • oh god i love that sound. that was heaven man. :D

  • its way overpriced , but it sounds great.

  • when caan i buy this fantastic bass??

  • very, very nice bass and the smiley 0:11 great :D

  • thats a sweet bass

  • jiggrgermy is an asshole am i right people?

  • Does it really matter?

bink kicks ass!! thats all that is important here.

  • i feel like the neck on the new model is alot shorter then the old model. can someone enlighten me?

  • anyone know what bass lick he s playing? i could probably figure out by listening but wondering if its from a song?

  • Its the feeling this bass riff :) for the verse

  • people need to start reading the description...

  • Best sounds bass ever!!!!

  • This is Feeling This on bass

  • just like the description says.

  • most people don't even read the description. so you don't have to be so cynical about it.

  • learn to read it.

  • i don't know how to read...

  • They're both very...standard bass players. All they really do is sitback and play the root notes...that's no fun...

  • You shouldn't even ask that question. Obviously Mark has way more talent.

  • you cant even compare mark to pete or whoever cus mark's a fckin beast :)

  • no he's not, he has awesome tone. that's it

  • That's not true; he may play simple for the blink songs, but he is really really good if you see him play bass randomly in the studio. He isnt gonna use crazy bass in a blink song, cuz that would just not fit.

  • i guess u dont know many blink songs

maybe listen to the song carousel..

i wanna see i video of u playing as good as him..

  • well, i don't know if i can do video very well since my webcam is fucked. but i will try to have it up within the next week or two. And i do listen to blink songs. carousel is one of his better riffs but still rather unimpressive. And what YOU stated, is completely irrelevant to what sisko182 said, he said mark is really really good...messing around in a studio. and i can't find any videos of him, so i'm just going to choose to be skeptical of mark hoppus' talent unless i get proof.

  • right just shut the fuck up. you sound pathetic and stuck up, ffs Hoppus is the man.

  • Search for blink-182 recording studio here on youtube.

there is about 30 videos of them on the studio.

so go fuck yourself you piece of shit.

let us see how you do better than him asshole

  • Comment removed

  • Fuck off, limpdick. You think everyone cares so much about your opinion. Who cares if he plays simple riffs, if people like it then people like it. No one needs to prove shit to you. Go back to listening to Insane Clown Posse, asshole.

  • yeah,it's amazing!!

  • wow there realy is a lot more punch in the E and A strings!

  • LIKE A BOSS!!!!! WOOO

  • Beautiful Bass...
