Human being? hahaha.. u call him god.. he calls me superman... I call him a syphilitic bitch. In touch with god? hahhahahaha... I thought he was dead?
@Tyton It would -it's sad that so many people find ways to state 'your philosophy does all these bad things and mine does all these good things' - and don't think enough to ask themselves 'do people who think like that do so because they are right or because they need to believe they're better?'
The friendship with Wagner ended because of his anti Semitism it also gave Nietzsche the balls to leave behind his German nationalism. (that's why his friend ship with Wagner was one of his "greatest achievements") his words not mine.
I'm a bit curious why they included Will Self here as a commentator. As a novelist, he seems like an odd choice? Anybody know? At the same time, it was a great choice... his comments throughout are great.
By making a comparison between the portrait of the father and the son one might come to a deduction;
While the face and eyes of the father reflect harmony and tranquility, the face and eyes of the son express utter dispair for being totally torn apart mentally.
lt seems to me that FN wanted to punish God, actually KILL HIm, out of vengeange for the loss of his father, thus being deprived of spiritual guidance and therefore autonomously seeking it for himself, resulting in tragedy..
When abandoning God you will find nothing but human, all too human and thus being thrown back upon yourself and others, into the dark and uncertain abyssal of an ever changing and chaotic unviverse, without anything to hold on to, thus creating for yourself a constantly increasing hole in your soul, resulting in a maddening hunger and desire for experiences that can never be stilled, turning your life into a rollercoaster to nowhere.
@helmuthoorn The choice seems to be between choosing to put meaning into things,....which itself feels rather meaningless...or blindly having faith in an invisible man who, as Carlin said "has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn...and cry forever... ...But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money!"
@helmuthoorn : So what? We should believe in an invisible man in the sky to avoid existential angst, rather than try to think out a human solution? No thanks. The very notion of God lends itself to corruption by men for the accumulation of power and control over others. This is born out through history. Whereas, when philosophers tried to use human reason to solve problems, they gave birth to the first democracy, and the beginnings of science.
many idiots think that christianity is defeated by way of scientific ocular evidence! so called atheists who are more or less shaped by the sometimes usefull, sometimes harmfull ideals of christian morality.
your pseudo nymn belies your need to be heard...forget your philosophy and try being honest with yourself...God is Truth...attachment to material ideas and endeavouring to disguise yourself makes you even more problematic...which has nothing to do with any objective notions or philiosopy you think you have
I think I might be able to explain this scientifically, it links to lost intuitions through economic evolution as we transfer to collective unity in our presumed purpose of consumerism, economy = addiction as we loose the sense of natural instinctive perception, we need to fill the void in materialism attached to illusions of self-image, this relates to quantum physics, metaphysical language is to explain our creation and the cause and effects of our perceptive action and energy, Neo
economy is government controlled through monetary doctrines in perpetual change, when humanity becomes consumed a collective depression occurs, this one is global. It is adversity which teaches us, we are the student and teacher, external authority in belief that God is above us splinters the mind, Cain and Abel metaphor is about duality, duality is the father & son good eye bad me, three is a crowd forming a committee and a need to measure one countenance, thus forms ego or Nemesis Illusions
Through the Nemesis forms a dreamland or reality tunnel looking forward and back, we see the future looking through the rear view mirror, forgetting about the moment, the only true existence. The fear of death is associated with the image attachment and our codependency created through economy and purpose. Seek no purpose and ye shall know purpose is mathematical thought, human nature is predictable and directed through doctrines, same as it ever was, heaven a state of restored mind, Peace Neo
The irony is that this is what jesus the Christ was teaching, so even christianity has been lost to symbolism and worship in false idols, there is only one true psychology based upon duality and the gift of perception which allows us to create our technology tangible and intangible, metaphysical language obsolesces as we loose true meanings to parable and metaphoric interpretations of old books, like the bible, Jesus Christ expained this in his teachings, he was a genius of economy.
It is the application of knowledge to ones perception which is important to understand in shaping our views of others, knowing that people are simply being conditioned by economic consumption, compassion is simply to know the cause and effects others are unable to see in themselves... Self precieved image attaches to intangible belief symbolic in nature..
Freedom being sold = Eating the Menu and not the meal, or "knowing" what we do not "know" chasing dreams of prosperity Oh my!
Actually what does it mean to preach verses simply posting a comment on the internet? Opinions are simply opinions because the truth is reality is simply hard to explain... Obviously if people didnt care about our world there would be no comments, the question being what is it that people seek but an explanation to reality?
Maybe the question what is reality is another way of asking what am I? One wants to know nothing else but himself, and by discovering this 'reality'; the environment and the way it interacts with him, one actually defines himself. Defining then is the true means by which people make sense of their lives. I know its somewhat cynical, but maybe all these opinions and comments are less altruistically motivated than you put it. Maybe we only care about ourselves instead of the world
To me ; The question is; Why are we here, from there reality can become a bit confusing because reality is simply what we make of it, what I posted eight months ago was from a different reality than the one Im in now. So reality is being what we are when we are where we are... Thats simple enough to explain reality, Im just a crazy man trying to figure out the collective reality as to why we are always seeking change why and there is no true unity based in principles of a science in perception
So did you know that in the bible in the sermon on the mount Jesus Christ was teaching a science based upon the duality of the human mind of perception, I have picked up from there and have written about how perception is the original source of what I call Egonomics or the tranference of intuitive abilities to human economy. Its pretty interesting that religions do not take into consideration the evolutionary process because this has to do with econmic comsumption and addiction we are seeing
On your first point: I'm afraid I don't quite see how a formal definition (what, where, when) of reality can take into account the complex ways in which psychological and perceptional, as well as other subjective and non-descriptive interact with us at a given time and place. In other words; what use is a formal definition of reality when trying to find an answer to problems related to the mystery of our reality?
You put forth the notion of 'collective reality', which in your use of it is in essence an extrapolation of individual reality. And like I've trying to describe, I don't think it's that easy to grasp in a philosophical way. In my humble opinion; you're totally right in saying reality is a 'small' constantly changeable way of viewing oneself at a given time and place, but, as you've touched upon; though there's no universal truth in the way we perceive the world, the truth is we need it...
There is no such thing as a collective reality other than one based in the means of Economy which to me is what affects perception the most, what did you mean by saying we need it? The world? Also you do realize that the whole God thing is a symbolism right? Symbolism is like knowing what we do not know...Or eating the menu and not the meal so to speak.
Looks like he might have driven himself insane with too much thinking...God isnt dead, but the human soul has turned to dust....look at the state of mankind that has turned away from God...God is neither Muslim, Christian, Hindu or Jew or whatevvvr
you dont understand Nietzsches teachings or you are too cowardly for his truths.Nietzsches teachings are for the courageous and healthy and not weak and decaying
I doubt that you have read any of Nietzsches works. For you to call one of the greatest minds of all time absurd is rather outrageous to me. There is a certain lunacy in love but also there is a certain reason in lunacy. So I recommend you pick up a copy of Thus Spoke Zarathustra and read well before you make any comments on Nietzsche
the statement that you made that "Nietzsche's teaching are for the courageous and healthy" is incorrect. instead think of it as a real view of reality it is for the existist, the most curious of humans. What Esuric86 talks about is for the courageous because in our day and age it is very bold to stand by god, who is dead, as Nietzsche said.
this is your response to my comment i hope you figure it out cos i dont get your point and why would you talk like this if Nietzsche is your favourite philosopher
God is not dead, his resurection gave the world the agarian calander (so and so A.D. or B.C) He led people away from the allmighty. And he himself without Christ is dead;)
I don't think you read Neitzche's "Beyond Good and Evil" properly... "God is Dead" doesn't mean we wants people to more away from Christianity but to move away from universal truth

in italy you dumbass, which is in my opinion a better nation than israel, so yea shut the hell up and he wasn't an asshole if you even read a SUMMARY of his biography they say he was exceptionally polite
Nietzsche died in 1900.... the Nazis were a political party which came up after the end of the first world war (1914-1918) ... Nietzsche was not a politician
I understand Tom Cruise is making a film in Germany about Stauffenburg's assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler. Apparantely the German government have been against this due to the Scientologist belief in the idea of the superman. The religion is actually banned in Germany for this reason.
"The first great punk philosopher" - what an awful phrase! What other great punk philosophers are there? Nietzsche was very critical of anarchists (as many punks claimed to be), and I doubt he would have appreciated being compared with the indignant, monosyllabic boorishness of punk.
The death of God is much more then the people losing faith in religion and God .
IT's Nietzsche attack on metaphyisics in general which was seen by Nietzsche as impersonnal and ethics also were based on a metaphysicial or group base (slave ethics). This is attack on german ideaism in heavly seen in Kiergaarad aswell who as very critical of Hegel.
It was so great to see that there are intelegent and thought provoking videos and people on the Internet-rather then the troglidites that seem to rule. But I am quite sure that there is common consensus that Nietzsche's insanity was cause by syphilis.
But is also a common consensus that Nietzsche was a supporter of Nazism. As far as I know, the cause of his insanity was never clearly established. Syphilis is a common theory, but we must emeber that Nietzsche was in ill-health most of his life. His father died of some brain disease, and Nietzsche always insisted that he had inherited his faulty genes. But, who knows?
Nietzsche was firmly against antisemitism. He philosophy may have been twisted and used by the Nazis in an attempt to justify their actions, but his beliefs and works are clearly fundamentally opposed to those of the Nazi party.
You're missing my point completely. I was addressing a comment that said Nietzsche acquired syphilis, and it was a common consensus that this is what bought on his insanity. I said that Nietzsche's supposed ties with Nazism were also confirmed a common consensus -- common consensus here being a synonym for mass ignorance. My point rests on the assured knowledge that Nietzschean philosophy is diametrically opposed to Nazi doctrine. Perhaps I expressed this poorly. So, I completely agree with you.
Nietzsche is a beautiful person. I love his works and thoughts- he is the only philosopher (so far) that has changed my life completely. He is a genius... I don't care what anyone else says.
@HILLARYXNOELZ Well, if you care what NIETZSCHE says, perhaps you shouldn't call huim a genius, as in his book "Human, All Too Human" he denounces the term, stating that the only "real" genius is that born out of hard work, not a "flash of inspiration or ideas," that flash, he says, is the result of years of toil and thought....'
But as my favorite philosopher and a hero of mine... he would've hated being a hero ir genius- but he'll have to stand our calling him one, eh?
I can't wait to read more of Nietzsche. I first started w/ 'The Birth of Tragedy.' Next, 'The Geneology of Morals.' My favorite authors right now are Karl Marx and Erich Fromm. Thank you for providing this great documentary. I'm going to enjoy it!
The sentence, yes. But he meant something very different and to my taste much more profound with it than did Hegel or Luther. Whats more, he formulated it in his parable of the madman in a brilliant way.
Yes, Fiodor said that in "Karamazov Bros"; but that wasn't what Nietzsche really meant. He meant that "god is dead" = "we don't even need a god anymore".
Yes, but Nietzsche was saying quite a bit more (from The Gay Science, the 'Madman' aphorism). He colourfully illustrates that for a long time, intelligent people had known the lie of gods and religion, but that they hadn't fully confronted and overcome the existential (I hate using that pretentious word, sorry) and ethical wake left behind. Nietzsche pointed out that 'God's shadow' still persisted as obfuscating as ever.
I don't expect an 8 minute video to do Nietzsche justice, but this was absolutely terrible. Go read him for yourself, don't listen to these academian zombies tell you what he thought.
I agree to a certain extent. The ´experts´ in this documentary have some big misunderstandings concerning Nietzsche, it would indeed be better to read him yourself.
I had the whole of this series about Nietzsche, Heidegger and Sartre on video at one point. I think they were around one hour long each. If I get lucky and find it, it'll be up here.
Human being? hahaha.. u call him god.. he calls me superman... I call him a syphilitic bitch. In touch with god? hahhahahaha... I thought he was dead?

Nietzsche died in 1900.... the Nazis were a political party which came up after the end of the first world war (1914-1918) ... Nietzsche was not a politician

Nietzsche wasn't a Nazi, buddy. His philosophy has nothing to do with control (as the nazis' did) it's about heroically embracing abysses.

I understand Tom Cruise is making a film in Germany about Stauffenburg's assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler. Apparantely the German government have been against this due to the Scientologist belief in the idea of the superman. The religion is actually banned in Germany for this reason.
madelinefauchelevant 4 years ago
Its actually Martin Heideggars sketching which is used in conjunction with the nazi flag, he openly supported nazism.
Perhaps of the three Nietzsche maintained the most dignity by not wading into grandiose political movements...
All three are remarkable thinkers.
madelinefauchelevant 4 years ago
But the Nazis have used his texts a lot for Propaganda.
His idea of the "Übermensch" for example...
but they have eather missunderstood him or have understood him, but still used the texts because they can be missunderstood...

"The first great punk philosopher" - what an awful phrase! What other great punk philosophers are there? Nietzsche was very critical of anarchists (as many punks claimed to be), and I doubt he would have appreciated being compared with the indignant, monosyllabic boorishness of punk.

Sleep easy, people. Nietzsche meant the death of God accoeding to organized religion.
LulaTarik 4 years ago
The death of God is much more then the people losing faith in religion and God .
IT's Nietzsche attack on metaphyisics in general which was seen by Nietzsche as impersonnal and ethics also were based on a metaphysicial or group base (slave ethics). This is attack on german ideaism in heavly seen in Kiergaarad aswell who as very critical of Hegel.

There is no logics in life; when a indivdual recognize some paralels between the past and presence, its because the individual wants so.
But the individual can't explain some other parts of the presence, so he just calls it God.

It was so great to see that there are intelegent and thought provoking videos and people on the Internet-rather then the troglidites that seem to rule. But I am quite sure that there is common consensus that Nietzsche's insanity was cause by syphilis.
nestreblig 4 years ago
But is also a common consensus that Nietzsche was a supporter of Nazism. As far as I know, the cause of his insanity was never clearly established. Syphilis is a common theory, but we must emeber that Nietzsche was in ill-health most of his life. His father died of some brain disease, and Nietzsche always insisted that he had inherited his faulty genes. But, who knows?
vivthefree 4 years ago
Nietzsche was firmly against antisemitism. He philosophy may have been twisted and used by the Nazis in an attempt to justify their actions, but his beliefs and works are clearly fundamentally opposed to those of the Nazi party.
emfredr 4 years ago 3

HILLARYXNOELZ 4 years ago 9
you are right
xxxwsd 4 years ago
@HILLARYXNOELZ Well, if you care what NIETZSCHE says, perhaps you shouldn't call huim a genius, as in his book "Human, All Too Human" he denounces the term, stating that the only "real" genius is that born out of hard work, not a "flash of inspiration or ideas," that flash, he says, is the result of years of toil and thought....'
But as my favorite philosopher and a hero of mine... he would've hated being a hero ir genius- but he'll have to stand our calling him one, eh?

The sentence, yes. But he meant something very different and to my taste much more profound with it than did Hegel or Luther. Whats more, he formulated it in his parable of the madman in a brilliant way.

The concept of Death of God is from the note of Dostoyepski. He said, 'if God is dead, every thing is allowed '
purpleiris 4 years ago
Yes, Fiodor said that in "Karamazov Bros"; but that wasn't what Nietzsche really meant. He meant that "god is dead" = "we don't even need a god anymore".
Anello25 4 years ago
Yes, but Nietzsche was saying quite a bit more (from The Gay Science, the 'Madman' aphorism). He colourfully illustrates that for a long time, intelligent people had known the lie of gods and religion, but that they hadn't fully confronted and overcome the existential (I hate using that pretentious word, sorry) and ethical wake left behind. Nietzsche pointed out that 'God's shadow' still persisted as obfuscating as ever.

ya, but Fyodor don't realize that god is really death, he believe in god.
