he plays well but whoever is comparing him to itzhak perlman's 13 year old performance is a n00b. his right hand technique and position could use some work. perlman's technique is ridiculously effortless...
both are extremely well, but perlman's one makes me smile, cos it shows a normal boy playing his violin, with no suit, nor pianist, nor the stuff that only takes your freedom away =)
i have to agree, the way he plays and the resulting notes sound just average, ytzhak seems to pay attention to every note, thus causing you to pay attention through the entire song. of course you get the same results if you practice 3-4 hours a day since you were 5, but the attention to and love for music can only go so far. at 13 perlman was producing the sound predominantly with his mind, where as kid here is doing it only by hands, mechanically.average average average
i wasn't meaning tht it was the same i am saying that you and him played the same song!!By the way, i twas really good. don't get me wrong it was not an insult
Here's a bit of a tip for you.. play it a small bit slower. Violin isn't about playing allegro at presto. Also, the pianist, I do have to say, was terrible. He covered you up and on some of those times, his counting was off and was going too fast.
That would be a fair comment except that the response compares perlman WHO WAS 13. And the only way to be world class is to compete with the giants. And this kid does a great job.
oh give me a break! I'm sure he's mature enough to take that with a grain of salt, but c'mon!
give the kid some credit already. Perlman was better at 13 than many people are when they're 20, so it's kind of rough to go around comparing in that way,
actually I thought his pianist followed him very well. But that could just be the result of a lot of rehearsal. You are right, the balance of his accompaniment was a little off in parts. I mean, I guess I can feel for accompanists, it can be very tough to achieve a really great balance with a soloist, especially on an instrument like the violin and a piece like the third movement of mendelssohn.
Jessie's own accompanist could not come so the competition chairman referred him to us. Actually, they had only one rehearsal before this but he followed Jessie very well.
get over it, the littlest of issues is not necessarily the end all be all. It was still a great performance I think- everyone's entitled to their own opinion of course
i think its already very good; just wish the sound quality was better.

yes!
i can smell some diminishing thought from you about people on wheel chairs. Have you thought, that they could be as happy as we could be?
anyway, forget this little controversy. Let's shut up and listen the music =)

itzhak perlman still owns him
his technique is way better
no scratchyness!

Is it wrong of me to ask that all the people who are posting criticisms of this young man to post a video of themselves playing this piece perfectly?
plaidbird 3 years ago
Don't get me wrong, great perforance. This kid is talented.
But to post it in response to Itzhak is silly. I hear minor VERY minor imperfections in this video.
The thing that sets Perlman apart from EVERY violinist is his ability to make ANYTHING look easy and he has no audible imperfections.

pffft...its not like he's saying hes better then perlman....to be honest im glad he posted this in response....would have never seen it otherwise

wonderful 12 yr old phenom! no question!
I wish I'm as good as he is! ^_^
I think for him to be world class violinist, the thing I worry about most is his right hand pinky being straight
well but unless he can play like Heifetz and pull off spacatto like Heifetz does...
also his left elbow seems kinda too awkwardly in, but maybe it's because his arm is a bit short and needs to do that for high positions?
crschang1985 3 years ago
a good performance but you take yourself too seriously. Have fun with the piece. relax!

perlman's notes were pretty clean at 13. this kid's not. many sequences where he randomed off.
kendow11 3 years ago
Perlman's also world famous.
Don't compare kids to world-class violinists, even at their age. It's ridiculous to discredit them for not being as good or ask them to be as good.

This kid is very good, but he is not yet Perlman. Maybe he will be in the future.
(BTW - his pianist is awful- covers him all the time...)

yes he did. The balance issues were of course due to rehearsal time and playing right away in the hall. It was still fabulous
