Veri-- Tell Nutn to let David know that he should start making lights with crowned bezels. I like the company but I think it would really set the company off even more.
i love 4sevens and support them 100% after watching all your reviews about there lights i was very interested but when i just received my first flashlight from them i was kind of disappointed :( but i ordered the Quark aa2 s2 version thinking it was going to be a little better from reading about it, But it has a slightly green tint which isnt a clean feeling whenever i turn it on or compare it to my ld20 ld20 looks cleaner n a little better in throw. unscrewing tailcap itd alwys pinch the o-ring
I have to apologize, but if the inventor has difficulty actuating his own product..it's too complicated. The KISS rule applies to what should be a simple product. The more you diverge from on/off, the more controls you should have. These are the Rubik's cubes of flashlights.Necessity is the mother of all invention, and the necessity should be simple lighting. LOL,"Ooops" AND "..missed it again!" Not bad product, just unnecessary design. Then again maybe I'm on the Rube Goldberg channel, my bad.
4Sevens needs to make head-band and bicycle attachments or even a dedicated forehead lamp. If I want to go hands-free (and I do) I'm pretty much staying with Fenix.
nutn, thanks for the reviews. I have never been into flashlights or preparedness until I got married last year and I now have a famliy to protect. Your reviews have saved me alot of time, extra effort, and MONEY! ... I'm getting the Quark 123, Quark Mini, and I'm getting a Fenix. Your project is the "real deal holyfield".
I'm not a cannot. I call it from experience. I have a mini 123 and a preon 2. They are good lights but I would rather have a surefire like Titan or ra hds clicky if my life depended on it. The preon 2 titanium I have feels cheap. It's a good light but the seems lacking in toughness.
This lights are nice but the build quality is no where near a surefire or a hds ra clicky. I own a few of these lights and yes the put out a lot of light but the are no where near as tough as surefire.
hmm, i guess shouldve watched this video 2 nights ago when i bought a Quark AA2 from 4sevens for my dads xmas gift.... thankfully i chose the right one for him, whew! ;)
Veri, tell David Chow he just sold another Preon thanks to his hospitality towards Nutn in this video alone. I didn't even need a flashlight and neither did 2 of my other friends who bought one tonight.
@LordChrisHimself Wasn't David the greatest? We think so. SHOT Show is right around the corner again....hard to believe its almost been a year now. -- Veri
I love my Preon 1 R5 flashlight, but then when I had to deal with 4sevens customer service after receiving an underperforming Preon 1 S2 version, I don't think I'll ever buy anything from a company like them. BatteryJunction, at least, apologized when I was unsatisfied with a light I purchased from them and even offered to HANDPICK the brightest and whitest light out of 10. 4sevens, on the other hand will tell you it's unfair for them to do that. I just want what they advertised.
Nutnfancy has a video of the Quark 123 Squared (dunno how to type the little 2) Turbo mounted on a 12 gauge shooting off full power rounds, and it held up fine. However, I think the Maelstrom is intended to be used as a weapon light more than the Quark Turbo is.
I NEED ALITTLE HELP NUTNANCY OR ANYBODY WHO CAN HELP ME. I NEED A GOOD RECHARGERABLE FLASHLIGHT WITH STROBE. ALSO IT MUST HAVE 250LUMEN OR MORE THAT HAVES A FAR THROW. THERES TOO MANY LIGHTS OUT HERE. WHICH ONES ARE THE BETTER ONES
@flashlightfreak9 i have a few HID flashlights and they are by far better then any LED, when needed to light up a area, all the rest are just kids toys
I just got my new Red Preon 2 in the mail literally 10 minutes ago. First impressions, meh it's alright. I lost my fenix LD20 in a field exercise a while ago so I'm comparing the quality to that. It's very shaky, meaning when i shake it I can feel the batteries jumping around inside. The clicky button has quite a bit of movement side to side, so it feels kind of cheap when you click it. My first impression isn't that great, hopefully the performance will overcome my feeling of disappointment.
Most excellent vid bro. David Chow seems like such a nice guy. I am wanting to stick with Surefire but 4Sevens seems to be just making crazy good torches. Damn.
Even though this clip is a few months old now it's good to see those chunky prototypes of the upcoming models. Although ironically the G500 is the model I'm interested in the most as I think it can be powered by an 18650.
Although I've recently "discovered" high CRI and am not sure if I want to buy anything with run-of-the-mill CRI anymore.
FYI: Brinkmann Armormax PN# 809-1085-1 is a 140 lumen_3aaa flashlight that works very well as a light duty tac light. Cut off the rubber grip and wrap 6 layers of electrical tape on the barrel and a 30 MM scope ring fits perfectly.
I bet that S1800 could do a 200 yard throw. It was holding strong 50 yards across a very bright room... I would love to see what it could do at night.
Thanks for this great video. I have to admit that I blew past all the other light videos. But this one truly turned the light on for me :D
Going to purchase one of the 4Sevens cause of the great video and the amazing quality for the amount of money. Its such a great deal, I cant pass it up..
you are my hero. This video has opened up my eyes to 4sevens. Been using my Stinger for a while now might move on to the Quark turbos now. Thanks again nutnfancy, videos help out a lot!
Oh man! That Olight SR90 Intimidator was just sitting there that entire time and they didn't even mention it! I know its POU doesn't really fall under the nutnfancy's projects norm but I would have loved to see just a small glimpse of that 2200lumen beast. Anyway, great video as usual, I LOVE the nutnfancy project!
I had no idea $sevens was out there, loved the look of the mini 123 so I ordered one direct from there site.
FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING! (listed as 1st class international shipping at $10.76 cost to them) on an order worth $63.00 including the $5.00 insurance.
They may be a little more than the distributors but I doubt the other stores will be throwing in free shipping. Couldn't be happier so far.
Love this video, very informative. I am especially interested in that prototype flashlight with the lithium phosphate battery, hope to see more of that
Nutin' have you checked out the Ezellta lights. They are made here in KY and they had a booth this year at the show. I looked at one a few weeks ago at Buds and was very impressed.
Hi Roarkfabworks: The company is actually spelled Elzetta. Nice durable light for a small company & pretty bright. You can also google their site as well to find out more about them. Funny thing is they TOO have imitated from what 4Sevens has done with "chroming" out there model light, but they added a signature on the body-that's different. Very aggressive look. I like actually like it. Still have to defer to 4Sevens, because of their PRICE & QUALITY, still a nice light though, Later, Lad...
I bought a Coleman flashlight for camping/hiking/biking and its pretty small, and I like it. All metal body and very durable... Only about 75 lumens, but works well for what I NEED, simple and effective that's my motto... You don't need the over-hyped crap.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Really have to check out the Ultrafires from dealextreme. $15 bucks and brighter than not only both of those, but anything on the NOrth American market....and the N.American models are selling for $75 to $200. They are all made in the same place to begin with LOL. Pay $75 for that, or pay $13 to $15 on Dealextreme for the same thing (given you have to buy the stronger proprietary batteries and charger but they are also low cost, still comes out to $35 including shipping).
Hey Slyder: I checked some links on CPF and read some bad reviews. After reading these bad reviews I tried to find ANY website that actually owns this product line. Couldn't find it. That should tell you something. I'm a RESELLER for 4Sevens, Fenix, Eagletac and a few others & I've tried MANY lights, THERE'S NOTHING FOR PRICE & QUALITY THAT MATCHES A 4SEVENS. Try a 4Sevens & you'll find out why. Only thing I buy from UltraFire is their chargers.
I have the Ultrafire WF-502B in front of me now and I'm happy with durability, the bezelled cap and the 250 lumens. I ordered from dealextreme and with free shipping it cost $16 about. The only 4Seven I've seen cost a lot more and was less bright. Cost is a big factor, and quality is high in my opinion.
hey nutn/viewers, what light would You recommend for edc? those coloured quarks look pretty sweet/affordable(soz forgot the name lol) but are they really the best choice? price point anywhere up to 60 not including shipping, any advice would be appreciated
i like 1xAA form factor for edc. in that category, i'd recommend either a Fenix ld10 or Nitecore d10... emphasis on the Fenix ld10 -- i've had UI issues with all of my d10s
It really depends on if you want something narrow and long or short and fat. I edc a streamlight stylus pro (previously reviewed in TNP) and it rocks one mode at 24 lumens. Or you could go with one of those quarks or a Fenix LD05, which I have no experience with. Than if you like short and fat lights you could get A Fenix L1D or LD01, maybe even a Nitecore ez series or D series. Also, you can get the best of both worlds with a Streamlight Microstream, a scaled down Stylus Pro.
I've had several law enforcement folks holding their flashlights in a certian way to look at my papers ect. One night it dawned on me that they was in a position to give me a major headache if I got outta hand. Never happened though. Always had too much respect for them. My father taught me that when I was young.
I like watching these and watching the face expressions the vendors give you when you critique their items. They are use to only mentioning the pros and it looks like they die a little on the inside when they face a reasonable argument to their design. lol, awesome job my friend.
nutn posted on twitter: Hey dudes: as you can see I'm maxed putting together and getting out my 2010 SHOT Show vids. Others that are coming out are: Arsenal, Springfield Armory, Smith and Wesson, Benchmade, Marlin, Davidson's(GalleryOfGunsdotcom), 5.11 Tactical Gear, BlackHawk Tactical, Xcaliber Airsoft, RockRiver Arms, TAPCO, and maybe 1 or 2 more. - nutn
@1PATRI0T You are missing the point of them sure its brighter then a Surefire, sure fire is over priced and old technology, these are VERY durable and are hard to break that "$10 Surefire" will break n like 5 minutes of "Tactical" use and these lights can be mounted on firearms, can that "$10 Surefire" be?
ive seen the video before like 3 months ago and that light was crap haha Surefire is somewhat crap lol they us bulbs and they think everyone is rich and 95% probably 100% of surefire lights can be weapons mounted clips are for pocket use. I have used the walmart flash light he was using in the video and ive broken like 5 of them cuz they are so unreliable, u chunk that light out in the street and i bet it'll break and they arent even water resistant! throw a 4 7s and itll work ur just spam i bet
"ive seen the video before like 3 months ago and that light was crap haha Surefire is somewhat crap lol they us bulbs and they think everyone is rich and 95% probably 100% of surefire lights can be weapons mounted clips are for pocket use"
Another good one for the project...Nice lights and great power... I kinda wish they would durra coat them like your rifle and your knife... Those are sweet colours... Another great vid Nutn...Wel it's getting dark out, gotta go buy a flash light....
Near the end there with the solid copper heads...Is the finish similar to having used the technique to color pennies silver and gold?

I bought a Coleman flashlight for camping/hiking/biking and its pretty small, and I like it. All metal body and very durable... Only about 75 lumens, but works well for what I NEED, simple and effective that's my motto... You don't need the over-hyped crap.

Oops, did I mention 250 to 300 lumens? These ones in this video are 160 lumens on high and cost almost 3 times as much.

Really have to check out the Ultrafires from dealextreme. $15 bucks and brighter than not only both of those, but anything on the NOrth American market....and the N.American models are selling for $75 to $200. They are all made in the same place to begin with LOL. Pay $75 for that, or pay $13 to $15 on Dealextreme for the same thing (given you have to buy the stronger proprietary batteries and charger but they are also low cost, still comes out to $35 including shipping).
slyder25 2 years ago
Hey Slyder: I checked some links on CPF and read some bad reviews. After reading these bad reviews I tried to find ANY website that actually owns this product line. Couldn't find it. That should tell you something. I'm a RESELLER for 4Sevens, Fenix, Eagletac and a few others & I've tried MANY lights, THERE'S NOTHING FOR PRICE & QUALITY THAT MATCHES A 4SEVENS. Try a 4Sevens & you'll find out why. Only thing I buy from UltraFire is their chargers.
ReNuTechSolutions 2 years ago
I have the Ultrafire WF-502B in front of me now and I'm happy with durability, the bezelled cap and the 250 lumens. I ordered from dealextreme and with free shipping it cost $16 about. The only 4Seven I've seen cost a lot more and was less bright. Cost is a big factor, and quality is high in my opinion.
slyder25 2 years ago
Have you done a side-by-side comparison or are you going by the reading on the box?
ReNuTechSolutions 2 years ago 2
Dealextreme is a great sight. They have a tonne of good Cree based torches.

I'll definitely have to try some 4sevens lights out!

I apologize for the multiple, repetative posts.
And for some reason I can't delete them either.
I've been accused of spamming this video - That was not my intent. I don't know how the multiple posts happened.
I'll keep trying to remove the duplicates.

hey nutn/viewers, what light would You recommend for edc? those coloured quarks look pretty sweet/affordable(soz forgot the name lol) but are they really the best choice? price point anywhere up to 60 not including shipping, any advice would be appreciated
Slowbotable 2 years ago
i like 1xAA form factor for edc. in that category, i'd recommend either a Fenix ld10 or Nitecore d10... emphasis on the Fenix ld10 -- i've had UI issues with all of my d10s
jrmym2 2 years ago
It really depends on if you want something narrow and long or short and fat. I edc a streamlight stylus pro (previously reviewed in TNP) and it rocks one mode at 24 lumens. Or you could go with one of those quarks or a Fenix LD05, which I have no experience with. Than if you like short and fat lights you could get A Fenix L1D or LD01, maybe even a Nitecore ez series or D series. Also, you can get the best of both worlds with a Streamlight Microstream, a scaled down Stylus Pro.

11:53 - Why in the world is there a pocket clip on that thing?! Who would want to carry that bulky SOB in their pockets?! Lets hope it's removable.
ATF6281914 2 years ago
I bet its removable but if not its a good idea because it can hook on a backpack or something else
clubtc05 2 years ago
@clubtc05:
That's what I was thinking too. Still, that's a bit heavy to clip and hang off of something (IMO).
I'd prefer a belt sheath.

I've had several law enforcement folks holding their flashlights in a certian way to look at my papers ect. One night it dawned on me that they was in a position to give me a major headache if I got outta hand. Never happened though. Always had too much respect for them. My father taught me that when I was young.

Heck, I even have the patrol version, with the charger, wall-mounts and all the crap - 'twas a gift. A most useless one to tell you the truth...
Can anyone guess why I NEVER actually used it? :D
BTW, the battery is NiCd (not even HiMh) and is ALWAYS depleted...

I like watching these and watching the face expressions the vendors give you when you critique their items. They are use to only mentioning the pros and it looks like they die a little on the inside when they face a reasonable argument to their design. lol, awesome job my friend.
