My first car was a SAAB 99, not a turbo, it was an 1973 model. It was my mom and dads car. They got it used. in 1986 it got it. I loved the car, but it was expansive to maintaine, and had a lot of rust, so i had to let it go.
@Archee14 Yes, that is the original sound of the car from when I shot the video. It's the sound from inside the car. The car was not modified from original.
@Popwar21 I agree, the Inca rims are a classic. Surely among the most unique wheels ever made. They're especially cool because they were designed to simulate the spin of the Turbo.
I've had a 1989 900 sedan for a while now and it has 450,000+ miles...i've only had to replace the timing chain and some suspension parts. These cars are amazing.
I really like the older 99's too... but they are hard to find and expensive.
I sold this car in September 2010. With 224,000 miles on it, it made the 700+ mile trip over the mountains to its new home in Utah without any problems. I love the 99 Turbo and it will forever be one of my favorite Saabs. Now focused on my 1988 SPG and 2001 Viggen.
Saablime, do you still own that 99 Turbo? How many miles does it currently have, and does it still run good?
Having been a Swedish car enthusiast for most of my life, I've come to appreciate the fact that there are so many owners like you and me that are willing to preserve pieces of automotive history (I have two vintage Volvos). I'm a fan of 99 Turbos but I personally like something newer - currently looking for a mint '89 or '90 900 Turbo convertible (still nice cars).
@jsrosa1282 Unfortunately I had to sell the car in 2010. Of all the cars I've sold, I regret selling that one the most, but had to do it at the time. I still have a 1988 Saab SPG and a 2001 Saab Viggen. Love the Saabs and the 99 Turbo is for sure one of my all time favorites. I'd love to own one again some day.
My first car was a saab 99 turbo, I miss it :-)

@saablime How do you feel about the impending demise of Saab Automobile? For me, it's like losing a good friend.
I was planning on getting a C900 convertible soon but it looks like I may end up with the '93 Corvette 6-speed that I've been looking at.

@KingCast65 Adobe Premier is the editing software that was used. Shot on my iphone. Congratulations on the 7 classic 900s. Love those cars.

@jazzopera Oh, it's definitely a 99 Turbo. See more info on the 99 Turbos at the Saab 99 Turbo Registry.

Sweet...I wish I could have convinced myself to keep my '83 900 (Base car) longer...but I did have it 13 years. Thanks for posting this!

Hei,
Is that the original sound of the engine between 0:03 and 0:20?
It sounds like a nice, strong V-engine, but as I know originally it has inline 4 cylinder engine.
Is the car modificated somewhere, or is the sound dubbed?

@saablime Correction: I thought the video editor had used the original sound but he corrected me that he had not.
