  • Great song and all you non Blacks who have gone through struggles similar to what Afro Americans have gone through can also be Black and proud in a political sense but anyone should be proud of who they are and what culture they come from there is nothing racist about this song it's just a way of affirmation and embracing self

  • I grew up listening to Soul Brother number one. Got beat up in High School because I liked JB and other soul music stars. A big white kid gettin the shit beat out of him and being called nigger. Just cuz I didnt listen to Metallica, AC/DC and Anthrax! Racism SUCKS

  • Probably the best lines pre-rap lines in history: "I worked on jobs with my feet and my hands, and all the work that I did was for the other man..." Also, "We a People we like the birds and the bees, But we rather die on our feet than keep living on our knees..."

  • there is seven white ppl

  • Would it be considered wrong to say I'm black and I'm proud even though your not black but just saying it for the sake of loving this song?

  • @KanianProductions you can be 'black' in a political sense, even if you're white. it would just mean you were an open minded, left-wing leaning individual

  • @KanianProductions all power to the people, go ahead and say it loud

  • Did anyone know that those kids chanting in the backgroud are predominantly White and Asian kids?

  • @snoopatomicdog now where did you get that informationt? prove it

  • @VETERANSADVOCATE I don't need to justify myself to you, a stranger. I know what I'm talking about.

  • @snoopatomicdog Show me proof.

  • I'm white, but I'm black and proud too.

  • @ericjungleboy Well alright!

  • You can still be proud, regardless of color people!!! A sweet song. Period!!

  • how he gonna make this song he was with a white women

  • @craig9097 You can still be Black and proud.

  • im black and im proud

  • Say Hello, Am yellow and a cool Fellow

  • im white and im proud!

  • Now you are saying that if i say i am proud it may offend someone....not my problem......As far as being subsidized this is the greatest nation on earth,,if you were born here you are blessed. No reason that anyone with the determination and drive to get off the sofa cant make something of themselves. Too many.. and im talking across the color spectrum ,,,sit on their behinds and wait for the govt to send them a check..

  • say it.....loud

  • say it.....

  • I LOVE JAMES BROWN!!!!

  • fuck cain

  • A much needed message for all of our lost, aimless, self-absorbed youth !! Too many of us see our younger brothers and sisters without any sense of pride and respect ! He said something so simple that no rapper today can touch it !!

  • at 0:13 does anyone else think that the picture on the shirt looks more like Cee-Lo Green with hair

  • Im white and proud,,,,,makes me racist right .....but i love james brown and herman cain,,,,,,explain that

  • @daverunner The Funky Mojo Bro

  • @daverunner : not racist, you're just happy as you are. Mr. Browm made excellent music, Mr. Cain makes sense, and you are satisfied as you are. I'm black and i enjoy this song, and his music too. You have great taste in music, I can say that much.

  • @daverunner That doesn't make you racist, being white and proud. But I'd rethink that rethink that Herman Cain thing....

  • @daverunner Being white and proud doesn't make you racist, b/c whites in that time proud of being white just like James is brown of being black. If one starts saying "White people are the most superior" then that's racist b/c 1 is inferring that all other races are inferior.

  • @daverunner Context my friend context. Read the fucking lyrics. It's about an oppressed people rebelling against the tyranny of the white man. Read that? OPPRESSED people. That white man has done nothing but oppress, slaughter and dehumanize our people, so much so that it affects us still today. And I'm not talking strictly blacks either.

  • @strongestofemall im thinking the working white man has prolly subsidized your ass for the last 60 years....not trying to be rude but the social programs are insane!!!

  • @daverunner That may be so, but it's the least that he can do. After working for free for centuries. Either way, the only reason people get bent out of shape when white's say that they're proud of being white is because of their history. We know what white proud is all about. Ask the klan, they'll tell you. You may not mean it in a 'racist' way but that phrase will probably forever have a negative connotation attached to it. How about "I'm happy to be white"? and I'll say I'm happy to be black.

  • all people are one...no need for war, famine and discord...we can just be happy by accepting everyone and loving each other... why humen are so stupid??? :(

  • A thing I love about James Brown is that he sings with soul. He, "feels the music" if you know what I mean, and his songs almost ALWAYS make me want to just tap my foot :D

  • HELL YA IM BLACK AND IM PROUD and if i could be blacker i would

  • @nazizombie778 theres allways 1 inbred that has something to say we heard that before GO BACK TO AFRICA make us go?Go back to europe? then STFU and let the decent white people that lov brother james music enjoy it.... thats why ur account is closed UNBRED goat humper hahah...

  • can't beat that band

  • Another #1 hit for the man who would become known as The Godfather of Soul on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 184th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #10 on the Top 40 charts.

  • "Catfish Collins" Bootsy Collin's Older Brother Is Definitely One Of The Most Underrated Guitar Players Ever. He Is Killing This Lead Guitar Track!!!

  • MESSAGE TO THE BONEHEADS!

  • Comment removed

  • @nazizombie778 OBTUSE, you can't even spell.

  • Let's dance the mashed potatoes around nazizombie778 and make him a love a self-respect and love shampoo.

  • I'm white, but this song goes right through my veins!

    Woo!

  • if you really think about it, james brown is one of the pioneers of rap....listen to how he sings

  • this song singlehandedly made dark skinned folks feel good about themselves....pataphysician..you remember the funky four corners!!!!!!!! lol god bless you !!!!!!!!! anyone can sing this , its about feeling good about yourself.

  • I'm not black but I'm proud to be black in spirit?

  • @TheEvilMakio Yes, we accept you as an honorary Black person.

  • @Phoenixspin Speak for yourself, Ace..........lol

  • The people who disliked this song are whispering, because they are afraid to say it loud, smh, who the hell could dislike this song?

  • he was wrong... his name's not "black", it's "brown"... he should say "say it loud, i'm Brown and i'm proud"...

  • Alongside King's "I have a dream" speach this is the most powerful expression of human rights I've ever come across. James you'll never bested.

  • SAY IT LOUD...LONG LIVE JAMES BROWN!!!!

  • I'm white but this is a good song.

Say it right, being white is alright! (could that catch on?)

  • @clamb1915 I'm african american and I thoroughly enjoy having every race and ethnicity God made available to us! Say it right: being white is allright, Say it loud I'm black and I'm proud

  • @clamb1915 I am black and white is alright!

  • @clamb1915

these days sure - it's like you have to, lol....I'm still black (as tar, "nappy" headed) and proud

  • @clamb1915 NO!

  • @Sanctifiedlady1969 rasist bitch

  • say it loud (proud to be black...)yeaahhhhhh

  • this is what we need today becouse Willie Lynch is still living in our souls

  • Thats right brother black panthers stand tall.ha ha thats wat i'm talkin bout

  • The best!!

  • When this song came out, I was a little white fourteen year old girl, dancing the Four Corners to this. My friends were not only singing I'm black and I'm proud, but I'm brown and I'm proud, etc. Nothing militant about it! It pissed off a lot of other white people, in Phoenix, anyway ha! Especially my white neighbors who saw that my family had black and Latino friends. One of Our lovely redneck neighbors threatened my mom with a rifle. And defaced my sister's car. FUCK 'em in Phoenix-

  • This song not only have much meaning,it also BE BANGING!

  • Songs like this in the other songs like This is how we do it Songs like that from the 80's and 90's are better than the That carppy stuff like Cat Daddy

  • which key is it? it's close to A but not quite

  • @gerescsocsozik Actually...it's in the key of Bb Major...the primary chord is a Bb7 chord for four beats, followed by a two beat accent on beats one and two of the following measure. The rhythm is basically an accented dotted quarter note on beat one...followed by an 8th note on the "and" of beat 2;... followed by a quarter note rest on beat 3 and a 8th note/8th note rest on beat four. The Bridge follows the same rhythmic pattern on the fourth scale degree, Eb7 for a 8th bar phrase.

  • @gerescsocsozik ...My bad..all the accents are on beats 2 and 3 of the measure.

  • This guy has a good thing going on. Militant funk. Amen brother.

  • @Nalinho That guy, James Brown was performing this live in 1968, but didn't release it until 1969. It wasn't militant funk, but a reflection of Black pride...it wasn't exclusive, he performed it to all audiences and it was his contribution, in his way to the Civil Rights movement of that era...James wasn't hustling Black pride.

  • This song gave me my roots. And those roots help me to hold it down in times like these. Here's to the late James Brown-the first, and brightest hip hop STAR! Jay-Z is coming close though.

  • @gclay40 Jay-z has a long way to go to get close to JB

  • Where can I get that t-shirt? :D

  • I'm white and i'm proud!!! oh shit is that racist? (relax im not racist, just an observation)

  • dayyyyum!!! im white and im shakin' maa white ass to this shiii riiii here!!!! am i aloud to do that peeps?? :D

  • @666lonny666 yes u r my friend

  • dats a real nigga under me VVVV

  • he's not black.......he's brown(the color of shit is also brown)kinda like this song.,.,..nothing but shit

  • @abzale23 You are shit nigga what the fuck this song not shit nigga why you go to this song then if its nothing but shit

  • I'm white, but i'm also black and proud.

  • @XcRaZySh1tX lol what?

  • Because of this song I'm black and ashamed. I much prefer to listen to the black anthem instead hes not even singing hes speaking with a beat children yelling "I'm black and I'm proud." doesn't constitute as singing. The only reason why this song is considered historic is because anything that is pro black in this country goes viral.I suppose history is to blame blacks have been so antagonized by whites in this country that they feel the need to bob their head to utter crap if it mentions us.

  • @keepingitreal15 you are way past oppressed my dear, you're brain dead,

  • @keepingitreal15 go jump of a bridge you self hating uncle tom just because you hate your self dosen't mean we hate ourselves

  • @YungPar Sometimes those are just professsional haters who come to our sites to hate. When u click on their name, it's usually delted. Insane posse.

  • Yeah! Soul power to this day indeed!

  • Thanks for the music!!!! LA/Honolulu

  • My black is beautiful! SAY IT LOUD!

  • Jam Brown is the man. And im a white New Zealander.

  • IM NOT BLACK BUT I HAVE FUNKY SOUL AND I PROUD THAT

  • @SteamLog did this song ask you that HELLLL NAHH ! if you ain't BLACK && PROUD who gives a fuck ? NOT I . . . haha , I'M BLACK AND PROUD , FUCK A WHITE BITCH !

  • @ilovegreeneyes123 thats racist bro.

  • @wody990 Your POINT is ?

  • @ilovegreeneyes123 my point is you shouldnt say that. black people get mad when white people say racist things like that.

  • @wody990 umm who are you . . . a NOBODY ! so suck it up and stfu . . .

  • @ilovegreeneyes123 i dont believe you know anything about me.

  • Thanks for posting. Do you have the 'video' to this where he's singing in front of 'white student's' (during the '60's) and their repeating the words "I'm black and I'm proud"?

  • happy mlk day SAY IT LOUD IM BLACK AND IM PROUD

  • i am not black,i am white but i like james brown style go james go

  • @MyDreamside NOW ONCE AGAIN ! THIS SONG DIDN'T ASK YOUR ASS IF YOU WAS WHITE AND PROUD , NOW DID IT ? HELL NAWW ! IF YOUR ASS AIN'T BLACK AND PROUD GET THE FUCK ON !

  • @ilovegreeneyes123

    LMAO ! Soo agree !

  • @RatedRRic559 Lmao ikr !

  • oh hell yeah, im BLACK & PROUD!

  • I'm sure songs like this were relevant in the1960s, but it sounds almost silly in 2010.

  • @shmuli9 This is even more relevant now, so many of our children have no pride in themselves.

  • @peannut6 Except now, to be politically correct, the song would probably be called "Say It Loud, I'm African-American and Proud". :-) Or to sound stereotypically streetwise (to sell records to pimply white teenagers) it might be "Ima Givva Shout Out, I'm Down with de Dawgs en Bitches".

  • @shmuli9, Lol, I like the politically correct version, but the streetwise one is just a sad reflection of our times.

  • @peannut6 Yes! Say it!!!!!!!!

  • @peannut6 Yup and as an 18-year-old young African-American man I am very dissapointed on how our youth is so shameful to be of African descent. The struggles our people went through not just for rights for ourselves but established freedom for every other race in the world and were the first to establish a unique culture which opened up the doors for everybody else no matter what color, and how African-American culture is basically pop culture from music to how people talk. It's a damn shame.

  • @shmuli9 GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE.... I'm black and i'm proud everyday of my life

  • @jumpingonglass I'm happy for you... You seem EXTREMELY happy. I know *I* say things like "get the fuck out of here" when I'm happy. Why, those words are almost synonymous the world around with "happiness", right up there with "I have cancer" and and "it's going to rain for five days and the roof has holes".

  • AMIGOS DON´T FIGHT! ESTA CANCION LO ULTIMO QUE QUIERE ES ESO!

PEACE GROOVE AND LOVE FOR NIGGERS AND WITHEYS AND CHINOS AND EVERYWONE.

  • @origenhumano niggers???????????? wtf that mean bitch

  • @jumpingonglass That means peace and love for EVERYONE man, don´t take a word out of context. Are you a journalist? gil de cuarta

  • This is a SOUL POWER can u DIG IT?

  • Well said Master/Mister James Brown ♪

    Well done GStrongRAW

    Peace

  • @Virpatrick Thank You Sir!!

  • SAY IT LOUD I'M BLACK, RACIST AND PROUD!

  • Dude this song is kick ass.

  • he only says over and over again "im black and im proud" but other than that this song is the best.

  • What we are doing here is working. That's all we need to know. I do not have to hate white people to be pro black! I love my people...I hate that we're not living up to our true potentials in many areas and I'm not just talking about it, I'm actually trying to HELP. You and I have two different takes on this and going back and forth here won't make it better. I respect where you are and ask that you do the same for me. If not, I'm STILL doing what I do. Peace and blessings. Post on if you wish.

  • DDSHARPER: It's working for us over here! You are doing a LOT of talking. I'm glad that you get "it"! I'm glad that you have identified the "evils" etc. I'm not about talking about it...I'm about BEING about it. In fact, I need to get off here and head to Alexandria Virginia for a couple of days...for the "cause". I'm done with our dialogue. I wish you peace and blessings and continued success on your mission. I leave..and I do mean LEAVE you with this: (cont'd)

  • Come one now. You still didn't hear anything I said. This is getting redundant. If I felt like there was no hope I would not have been working with my people for as many years as I have..children AND adults. Not only do they listen but they come looking for me..they call.they want what we have to offer. We don't have a problem with them not listening. That's because we don't "baby" them. We give them tools to work with and they DO! I'm out. For real. Peace and blessings.

  • Let's stop focusing so much on how others view us and work to build our own self image. Let's get our fathers reconnected with their families and make sure that OUR kids learn about investing and handling money. Make sure that they know about what they CAN do and not what others keep saying they can't. Ok, so we know all of that stuff about who gets called out for a crime etc. NOW...let's make sure that we steer clear of the crimes in the first place. BOOT STRAP mentality!!! PULL UP

  • @shespeakstroof watch?v=SZ8xQPdjJfM

  • @ddsharper: You have so many comments. Let me just make this last one from my end. Stop complaining about all of us being judged unfairly. Yes, some people DO that. I'm not one of them. I call it like I see it. We have so many opportunities to take advantage of in this society and we DON'T. There are so many reasons as to why not. Are we discriminated against? YES. But we can't wallow in that pity party crap. Let's work together to figure out why OUR kids drop out, why OUR young girls are moms.

  • @shespeakstroof you have a long way to go. if I didn't know better I'd think you were white. with your mindset, all pat and already phrased, no black person will respond to you and grow. you have to grow first but you cannot see that. but that's the norm and rule, not the exception. no one who knows it all has room to grow and any mindset based on social constructs in america is simply based on pride and judgement, I will be like the most high God. Real easy to beat up on blacks and Africans.

  • @ddsharper I'm sure you wanted this to be some disrespectful exchange. I'm not into that. Your condescending attitude let's me know that YOU have a long way to go. What I am doing with our black youth is very successful. I am also a part of a grassroots organization that is very successful at empowering our people. I've already told you that I don't claim to know it all but you seem upset that I don't. How about this...you do you and yours in your way and I'll do the same on this end. Peace!

  • @ddsharper I don't think my last comment posted...in case it didn't I reiterate. I'm not into insults and disrespect. This should be intelligent exchange. Your condescending attitude let's me know that YOU have a long way to go. I have been working with our people for many years with successful results. I am also a part of a grassroots organization that it very successful and recommended. I have already said that I don't know it all but you seem angry that I've made that statement.

  • @ddsharper Here is what we should do: You do what you do to help where YOU are and I got this over here. lol. We can be effective without being ALIKE! It's possible to do that. If we are both making progress, wonderful. By the way, I'm not white and if you are black and feel beat up on, let me suggest that you get a tough skin, take off the pity party hat, roll your sleeves up and get to work. There is much to be done! Let's get at it.

  • @shespeakstroof it's not about me, that's what you don't seem to get. when you try to reach one of your kids, explaining, begging, pleading, showing, nudging and trying hard to give them your vision based on your experiences and background, education and upbringing and reading and studying, and they say, I got this, you do you, you want to throw up your hands and judge them. they don't listen, won't accept that you are doing nothing but trying to give them another way to view life, approach life

  • @shespeakstroof You are simply asking them to look on the other side of the road, to peep through the keyhole, to open and expand their view and to give you consideration, to give you regard and to give you respect. They say, hell no, F you and then you feel like, there is no hope, they won't even take the time to listen, to see or consider.

  • @shespeakstroof You give them the option of staying the same or changing since everyone has freewill. But no. they are comfortable in misery, or in partial success or in mediocrity. There is a system of thought and being that supercedes your powers to reach them, except maybe a few, whose parents planted seeds. Well, that is how I feel talking with you, the same way you sometimes feel talking to them.

  • @shespeakstroof I could get frustrated, angry, etc, but I don't because most people fee, they got this, or that, and in turn may miss their own blessings. I respect your freewill but was making a point in that email. If anyone feels their points of view are challenged to grow or change or even, just consider another's, pride becomes the order of the day rather than respect and regard.

  • @shespeakstroof Not saying you must change, you have to believe but simply considering adding to one's repertoire seems a rare trait and I truly believe only exists in that rare leader that pops up now and then, like Geoffry Canada. For the most part, I have had many discussions with sistas on YouTube about this, that or the other and not just YouTube but the Internet in general.

  • @shespeakstroof I get a lot of, you do you and I'll do me, so, I believe that disrespect and disregard is THE number one problem, from the streets to the boardrooms, in america and in Africa. There seems to be a box that people live within to cope with the harsh and bleak realities and possibly hopelessness. They work out a world view, a safe philosophy, they judge those who reject their help and remain 3rd or 4th class citizens. It makes it easier to cope. Then comes along Canada or Urban prep

  • @shespeakstroof ghetto kids with a 100% acceptance rate to colleges. But if you look more closely they are all black boule leaders and black boule schools. Hmmm. so they know how to do it but what's really going on. Most stop there, if they even get there, and always, in this world, we blame the victims of Satan's world. We blame the victims. That is what we do because we don't even know the forces, the principalities and wickedness working in high places.

  • @shespeakstroof and the worst part of it all is that we don't want to know. none of us, black, white, hispanic or indian, foreigner or native. The truth always hurts and scares and breaks apart safe explanations and comfort zones. So I do understand. This is never, ever about me personally but truly about seeing beyond the box. That's what I live for, that's how I'm made and once in a while there are those who got out of the matrix, mentally and spiritually. Not the black boule.

  • wooo yeaah, gotta love dis... nice groove. i cant stop movin

  • Aww shit, G Strong again playing them real cutz.

  • damn whitey, who thinks he is, with his intelligence, good looks and hard working ethic. damn whitey won't give me job dat i'm not qualified for!. damn whitey.

  • Bboy's Let's Dance!!! =D

  • MY FAVORITE!

  • R.I.P James Brown

  • "We're tired of beating our heads against the wall..And working for somebody else."

The song was clearly about independence among black folk out of necessity. How the hell can anybody argue about that?

  • @Division1985 white people would argue with a stop sign.

  • @ddsharper wats up nigga dose damn whiteys and mexicans takn all our jobs no jobs left, notn but welfare to do. this ain't right, you can be our leader. damn whiteys, ain't give us nothn. even tho the african rulers and arab muslims created the slave trade in africa, it's those damn whiteys i'm angry at ain't do no nothn.

  • The cat !- James Brown!

  • Bunch of black ignorant racists, what the fuck does the black race have to be proud of? NOTHING!

  • @mikapromotesobesity wow, but don't worry God will still bless you hunny!!!

  • @mikapromotesobesity

a lot of things actually and what SHOULD be the thing we are proud of most is what we are not. that would be other races coming from us we. Honor thy mother and father the books says...Well..whites seem to have went the completely opposite way of that.

  • SOLID bro! I dig the hell out of that shirt and the movement he helped!
