fucking hell ive watched other horror films such as saw ect...and they have never botherd me but fuck me this film has botherd me so much that when i waz watching it this film proper shooke me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ive never seen anyting like it b4
People watch this and get off on the torture. Like an arty snuff film. What's amusing is the ways they try to rationalize and justify their sadistic kicks. "Oh, it depicted violence for the sickness it really is." "It had a MEANING at the end." Baloney, people watch this over and over because they like seeing helpless girls slaughtered.
@unclealand, It would have been much better to see these gorgeous girls doing each other, I mean porn porn, not torture porn!!
Pascal Laugier is a sick snob MF, the first half of the film is barely an excuse for torturing gorgeous girls on camera, and getting revenge against all the girls that laughed at his tiny penis or his castrating mother.
even though i thoroughly enjoyed this movie i fucking agree w/ you 100% lmfao
"nooo, its not attractive teenage girls getting slaughtered; its ART!!!!!" im just like K, its irritating when modern artists think over-the-top=art. but i still enjoyed this film lol
@unclealand You're a troll. Films like Hostel and Saw are for idiots who may get off on torture porn. But if you've seen Martyrs you'll know how different this film is. It's one of the most powerful films of recent years and a deeply, deeply unpleasant experience to watch. The only people getting off on Martyrs would be extremely sick in the head prior to watching it, and that would be about 0.0001% of the population, if that. You're denigrating an excellent film, but like I said, you're a troll
@SethHesio How intelligent is it for someone who enjoys watching women skinned alive to write comments to someone he thinks is a troll? Isn't it great that I don't have to give a dead rat's ass for your personal opinions of me?
The remarks in the subtitles about the hat were funny. but considering this is one of the greatest horror films ever made (up there with The Exorcist and The Shining, although it is far more disturbing and far less entertaining than those two) I think it's really missing the point to make fun of the director/ writer of such a powerful film. It's a true horror film in that it actually moves the audience and it's about something. The only flaw was the Madame character seen here, but that was tiny.
@SethHesio Martyrs is a great film, but don't take it so serious. Parodies and satire is a form of compliment. It's when people don't parody your art that you have to worry.
@SethHesio Also I don't think there was any flaw in that Madame character.. she was introduced as an occultist/philosopher of some sort and so the hat and the odd look was there to convey that she was some sort of mystic/psychic/guru of sorts. I think she played the character very well.
@viper8red I think the only reason why she seemed kind of comical, is that the film is so relentless, so dark... that you're looking, maybe unconsciously, for some kind of relief. Anything... and the Madame character is the only thing that's slightly stylised. I agree with you though, I don't think it is a flaw. I think the ending is perhaps not as brilliant as it could have been. But I honestly don't know how else they could have ended the film. I wouldn't have used the quote though.
@SethHesio Really, I thought the ending was brilliant. It suggets that the divine/afterlife/next world is so beautiful, so pure, so precious that it could not be shared with anyone. That's why she kills herself, she does not want it to fall into the hands of the others. She realizes they could torture her for the information and she refuses to let them have the knowledge of the gnostic experience the martyr gave her.
@OneEyedJack1970 That's just a guess right? It could have been anything she whispered to her. I think she killed herself in the bathroom because they were waiting for her to come out and make an announcement on the findings and she knew that the information was to precious to give to the others. Of course I suppose she could have lied but they probably would have known.
@OneEyedJack1970 She said: (whispering) Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are only going to make more albums. You should blow your brains out now to avoid any chance of listening.
i dont get how its torture porn? wtf they are just people who are getting tortured and happen to be girls... i think some people are seeing this in the wrong way
I just watched the movie awhile ago, and I'm still kinda traumatized but this parody really made me laugh XD thanks. It was a good film though.. just made my stomach churn like crazy..
Decent parody. I had no qualms about killing the children - at least they were quick.
I was hoping you would parody the gratuitous torture which the director chose to justify by using a combination of an ambigious ending and a lame philosophical statement.
Please don't trust the subtitles, the girl actually say "Une morte" and not a small penis, and for the non-french users that the french for a dead girl
haha thats so funny! excellent! bravo..the acress in this movie is so beautiful. she looked even more stunning with her head shaved..is she famous in france?
Nice to know that you were paying attention to the film! Oh wait... you were offended so you decided to put your brain to sleep like an ignoramus and totally missed the blaring white intertitle at the end of the film that listed the original definition of 'Martyr' as 'Witness'. As in, Witness to the afterlife.
Nice try but when you're going to criticize something, make sure you know what you're talking about.
@unclealand You couldn't be more wrong. You may be right on the definition of what a martyr is... but if you see this film, it is a million miles away from Saw and Hostel. It's one of the most powerful films I've ever seen. It's deeply unpleasant, and shocking, and disturbing but it is about something. It is not gore for the sake of gore, and if you have seen this film and can dismiss it like that then you don't understand films. I personally doubt you've actually seen Martyrs though.
@Jae0Englynd I'm not missing your point... I understand it, but I disagree due to the fact that if someone had killed tried to kill you, you'd grow up hating adults.
@TruthRealm And you are a fucking idiot. This comment pertains to a MOVIE. Get over yourself. Just because I stated I "don't care" for children doesn't mean I think they should be killed. I mean, Jesus Christ!--Are you that pretentious? That's a "You're either with us, or the terrorists" mindset, which makes YOU part of the "disease." Go take your self-important babble elsewhere.
Pretty much torture horror film. Young girl is tortured as a child and has mental problems so goes back and takes revenge on the people that did that to her - unfortunately her childhood friend comes along and horrible things happen. It's pretty upsetting and disturbing.
About afterlife, you really expect a living man to tell us for sure about it? lol
The girl has some vision from beyond anyway. You may need to be told and explained everything about everything, even about afterlife, and to be treated like some kiddo, I don't.
Anyway a film is not supposed to tell us everything, but first to make us ask ourselves questions. Like: what did the girl tell the old lady guru?
Have you heard about opened endings? And why shouldn't there be any violence showed?
Okay so you're telling me there are many ways to show a story involving bloody torturers? lol
Tell me. Are they supposed to cajole you, to take you to Disneyland? No mister, they're gonna... 'torture', hurt you real bad. In the film they do it with some goal to achieve. That's the point. Anyway these guys are lunatics, you expect a director to show them at work without filming any violence? This is not only empty, it's also a very funny thing to hear.
Of course when you get kidnapped by bloody torturers you don't have a good time. But making a film about it gives you a purpose to show bloody gore violent scenes? I don't think so. There are many ways to enter and show a story. This movie's way was graphic violence.
When that women with the turban enters the scene what she comes to explain isn't it the director's vision? Methodic, cold, with a fucked up fascination for the martyrs of our history and as she says that's just the way it is! I have no explaination for you i just want to show you violence...that's all...so what's the point? How profound is this?
If the director had imagination he would have let us know on what's on the other side that's the part of imagining the process. Also you don't have to be undead to imagine. That's a very empty argument.
Anyway I think the director would be frustrated to look at this mockery as much as you are. What's the point of defending graphic violence movies? They have no content. At least Argento was having a ball creating fantastic stories transformed into Soap Dish horror kitsh movies and he's just a cool open minded guy in an interview compared to Pascal Laugier who seems constipated and a little bit sexually repressed and spends most of the interview shitting on other people's work.
Even if this was another personnal movie of his it was a very bad idea to have the plants and trees become killers. Even a genius can be stupidly wrong and let his ego take over his mind. Thats what happened with Martyrs.
Sorry but when you get kidnapped by a sect of bloody torturers you don't have a good time, so a film about it needs to show blood and violence - obviously.
About afterlife you seem to believe the director is supposed to know about it - you're funny! The director is not 'undead', man! lol
Of course nobody knows about what's after death, so there can't be any comment about it and the director only lets us imagine - logical. You say the director has no imagination but what about you?
Because the purpose was to show graphic violence and nothing more.
I usually love author movies that make me think for myself long time after i've see it. But this time the only thing i could think about was the horror and no story at all.
I personnally think that this is the work of a deranged frustrated human being and people who like to look at this stuff over and over need serious help too.
I was a fan on M.Night Shyamalan untill I saw The Happening.
Why so much blood, hatred and gore stuff when the story could have been told as a drama?
The comedians are very good the production is neat too so why so much graphic violence?
Simple because there is no story what so ever in this movie. Only a fucked up cult of crazy rich people who beat young girls close to death to make them see what is on the other side. And yet the movie does not not even dare to tell us or comment on what could there be on the other side. Why?
Even if the director wrote the script himself, admires considered masters of horrors such as Dario Argento and M.Night Shyamalan, it remains that this movie sounds like a serious gore version of the book "Les Thanatonautes" by french writer Bernard Werber. In the book they scientists put serial killers on death row in a coma that plunges them into the other world and they wake them up after to ear about what they have seen.
Grow a sense of humour dude - seriously. Unless you are the dicrector of this movie, you are taking this WAY too seriously. Bit frustrated are you - seems that way.
In response, yes I saw the movie and no I didn't like it..obviously.
This video is a joke nothing more. I don't feel any personal hatred towards the director even if I didn't particularly like his film.
I'm sure a lot of people thoroughly enjoyed the movie and I have no problem with that. Good luck to the director and his film and I wish him every success.
As to why you keep coming back here to be continually outraged I have no idea.
So nihilistic, realistic, different. Forget the violence and you'll see a lot behind. Hostel is just fun and empty.
Anyway sorry if I hurt your feelings but you should've been careful a little bit, even if it was a joke - I know that. This scene has not been deleted for instance. And that family in the beginning deserves to die - they ARE torturers, the kids too. No crap.
Okay it was a joke, no problem with that - but you could have found better.
Stupid subtitling! Well done but stupid and not funny at all.
'The originally scripted dialog'? lol
Ha ha. So you have the original script, in French. Can you follow it to me so I can check?
Anyway you didn't see any of the points but you just hide it through hate and insult. Not good.
The family that gets killed in the beginning is a whole bunch of kidnappers and torturers (later a victim is found in their torture cellar) so they all deserve to die.
Ta parody de merde tu peu t'la foutre dans le cul.

Why?
onzecinq 2 years ago
Even if the director wrote the script himself, admires considered masters of horrors such as Dario Argento and M.Night Shyamalan, it remains that this movie sounds like a serious gore version of the book "Les Thanatonautes" by french writer Bernard Werber. In the book they scientists put serial killers on death row in a coma that plunges them into the other world and they wake them up after to ear about what they have seen.

frankly, m knight shyamalan isn't a master of much of anything.... at least weber is good.

So I guess you love Martyrs too - sure you do.
Anyway I didn't find that subtitling funny at all - nothing to laugh at! Just ignorant shit. Where's the humour in it?
If you find funny the fact of calumniating somebody on a public website and then turning it into so-called 'parody' that's your problem.
Gah - I hate online hypocrisy.
writerblaster 2 years ago
Grow a sense of humour dude - seriously. Unless you are the dicrector of this movie, you are taking this WAY too seriously. Bit frustrated are you - seems that way.
Lillyvon 2 years ago
Sorry I have some humour but it's not that trashy and stupid. I hate Jackass.
writerblaster 2 years ago
Of course you do. Yes - I would expect that. Borat was stupid as well right? And Holy Grail was nasty to God correct???
Lillyvon 2 years ago
You're not in my head - this is not 'Being writerblaster'. I don't like Borat and I didn't see that Holy Grail stuff.

It's so easy to say silly hateful crap on youtube without looking serious
Take somebody we don't know if he watched the film or not
Who don't know that the director wrote the script himself before he was hired to direct it
Who don't even try to understand a story and to use his head while watching
Soon he gets confused and still believes he got all the points when he doesn't, like about that family of torturers
What the hell makes somebody come up with such crap?
Small balls and no brains.

As to why you keep coming back here to be continually outraged I have no idea.
paradyne66 2 years ago 2
Why, well because I loved this film. Really.
No crap.
Okay it was a joke, no problem with that - but you could have found better.
writerblaster 2 years ago
Hee hee!
I'll be sure to come back here after I've actually watched the entire movie, when I'll probably REALLY need something to laugh at!
I want whatever software that is, to put in your own subtitles over a foreign film, BTW
JoeyRamoneLives 2 years ago
Stupid subtitling! Well done but stupid and not funny at all.
'The originally scripted dialog'? lol
Ha ha. So you have the original script, in French. Can you follow it to me so I can check?
Anyway you didn't see any of the points but you just hide it through hate and insult. Not good.
The family that gets killed in the beginning is a whole bunch of kidnappers and torturers (later a victim is found in their torture cellar) so they all deserve to die.
And do you only know what a martyr is?

Oh man, do YOU know what PARODY is??? Loser.

Of course I do.
This is DISGUISED parody. A way to hide a hateful opinion and to insult somebody without looking serious.
It doesn't fool me.

"What makes someone write a comment like this, hm?" "A small penis?" "There you go. A small penis."
