I only watch an anime in english if the setting is english or english like. Since Pom Poko is a Japanese heavy anime I prefer watching it in Japanese, this song is weird in English.

Disney turned the testicals to raccoon pouch and the Tanuki to raccoon because it is supposed to be for children, and most of Disney's audience does not know the difference between a Tanuki(raccoon dog) and a raccoon. Besides, parents would flip out if they called the raccoon pouch testicals, while in Japan, such things are accepted.

The Tanuki have large testicals in folk lore to symbolize both fertility and fortune. Many of them are said to carry sake and have round bellies.

The Tanuki's pouch is used in a lot of transformation techniques they use...

Let me guess, you watched Pom poko in english audio with captions. Just because they call it a pouch doesn't mean you have to tell everybody that it is one. Anatomically, it's their balls, and don't say "any Japanese person can tell you that", that's plain wrong; any sensible Japanese will tell you otherwise.

Actually, it isn't a pouch. You've watched the English dubbed version of Pompoko haven't you? They incorrectly change things about the film. I.e, Tanuki-raccoon. Testicals-raccoon pouch. Read it on Wikipedia I've learnt all about tanukis.

Tanuki isn't raccoon, it's raccoondog (nyctereutes procyonoides). Raccoon is "araiguma" or "rakuun" in japanese.

Tanuki isn't even related to raccoon. Raccoon belongs to family procyonidae (raccoons and coatis), tanuki belongs to family canidae (dog animals). The nearest relative of raccoondog is polar fox.

Only thing that they have common is the "mask" pattern in face.
