A picture is worth a thousand words. They could talk less and have more impact. To bad there are just videos of scenes of accidents. Force us to see what the EMTs and Police have to clean up after thoughtless behavior.
my dad saw this in driver's ed in 1960, I saw it in driver's ed in 1990, my kid will probably see it in driver's ed in a few years too. I'm more dismayed at the destruction of all the cool cars than anything else.

When i found this on YouTube I was in shock , this is what we watched in driver's ed back in the 70's maybe this should be shown today to our youth to make them aware , of just how dangerous our roadways and highways truly are, my son who is now 22 yrs watched this video , here on youtube, he said "I wished we'd had this in my driver's ed class, maybe two of my best friends would be alive today.
this is much less gorey than the video we had to watch in drivers ed 3 years ago.. I don't know what it was called, but it was pretty much the same format, only showing severed legs and broken bodies all over the highway.. scared the shit out of me..
Me too. I had to go to traffic school a few years ago to clear a ticket and the instructor had me sit in on a class with a bunch of 15 year olds trying to get their permits. He played a video he said was CHP (California Highway Patrol) archive footage of accidents (I'm guessing it was the worst of the worst) and it was pretty horrible. Babies in pieces, body parts all over the road, morgue workers picking up bodies with brains oozing out. Should be law to see before getting your license!
I am nto the same person after I watched those. There's something very life-altering about watching a man stop screaming only because his vocal chords have been severed.
I was in the 10th grade in 1984, which was the last year for driver's-ed in our school system. We didn't see this particular film, as it was fairly dated by then. In fact, we saw none of the older films. The ones we watched were mostly from the mid to late '70's. Still though, the premise was the same.
After watching this in driver's ed, the cops came and did a slide-show of local car wrecks. After they showed a pic of a bloody dead guy in the front seat of his car, a girl ran out of the class crying hysterically: it was her brother.
That's why they shouldn't get permission to show this shit. The kids aren't bothered by death, they're just stoked they get to see blood and guts. At least that's how it was when I was in drivers ed.

These films were made long before seat belts and Jaws-of-Life.

The narrator was very direct . A job well done !

Pretty tame after seeing terrorist beheading videos huh?
I love how the narrator has this tone of "But it's that chump's fault so he totally deserved it"

You've seen the videos too?

Even as we laughed at this in drivers ed in the 70s, the message definitely sank in.

Back in those days it was "strap and run" with the patient to the ER. Those Caddy Ambulances could haul ass if needed!

No, it's just that every third kid in the 50's looked just like Opie.
