I don't get why any government would kill its civilians needlessly. Even if a rebellion was aloose, innocent people are going to have a job and a family to take care of, and those two things are the most vital for a nation: workforce and procreation of new citizens. What I especially don't get is why a SOCIALIST state would do this: funding a citizens' life isn't cheap, and must serve /some/ purpose.

Besides, positive social change; if "madmen" do it better than democracy, democracy has failed.
