There is a patch 4 pistons by the creator of the mod ( before pistons were added ) to make 1.0.0 pistons throw sand and players

the thing is if I try and download it now with 1.7.3 it won't work unless I install the piston patch and replace all the --- blocks with minecraft pistons. But now I think about this just loading the map might make minecraft crash :-(

Not in this launcher i don't think. But a Piston from a Piston mod can launch you. (or make you jump really high.)

@osinevan You can get a "Piston Patch" which will restore the previous quality of pistons. Just type in Minecraft Piston Patch on Google it should the the first one up.

@aka27ify correction here the piston patch does work it is just that the sand doesn't fly high enough to work. The modders making the patch should fix this.

AntVenom There's a way you can use pistons to make a secret door behind a bookcase. It moves the bookcase left or right to reveal a room you should try and do that
