MP get paid a lot less than regular police, and they can't carry conceal. Only the NCIS Special Agents can carry conceal and do higher level investigations whereas the MP do stuff like what the Marine MP mentioned. I believe some of the NCIS Special Agents (the military ones) were former MP

Military Police service and protect Military assets. When home they patrol Military Bases and take care of military members at their homes on base. Regular police deal with city. So really if you are a MP you just deal with everything military.

@freemacsoft Never heard that, most Marines I know take offense to being called a soldier. In my opinion the only branch of the military I would call soldiers would be the Army. To each his own though

I grew up on military bases as my Father was a NAVY fighter pilot. I have the utmost
respect for military police, it is not an easy job, but the majority are great guys who
truly care, they do a fantastic job! Treat them with the resect they earn and deserve,
please!

I can only assume it would be something with leaving his fingerprint on something of the suspects, so that way if something terrible were to happen and the suspect fled they could say "Oh we know he came in contact with you, here is fingerprint." ...Am I close?

Military Police service and protect Military assets. When home they patrol Military Bases and take care of military members at their homes on base. Regular police deal with city. So really if you are a MP you just deal with everything military.

@skelton1089 In my town, the military police have no jurisdiction outside of the base limits, however they do travel on civilian roads to go between government owned land, i dont know if it differs in other cities

@slobknoblin No... You are wrong here. In this instance they just do the job of a normal Police officer unless there is a threat to the base or if they pick up any military personell.. Quite a good use of resources I would say.
