  • You have the logic of a farm animal.

  • LOVE this song

    and probably your best video

  • if there was a 'best of' playlist for you, this tops it.

  • then make one and i'll post it =)

  • check channel, made one last night ;)

  • there was never an explanation for the dramatic increase in video quality here

  • i got a viddy cam instead of a webcam? good friend helped? =)

  • your an idiot.

  • You helped pay there bills didn't you? STOP! You are one face out of countless others who pays the bills, it's our American culture to pay the bills of the rich. Don't piss at intellectual property rights! Bitch at capitalism or greed or fucking lobbyists. Leave poor I.P. alone, information is free, but attempting to use it or profit from it is gonna cost ya!

  • Damn girl.. Amen.

It's a touchy subject, the artist in me totally agrees, but the realist in me just wants to get paid.

In terms of a corporation, owning rights to music or any artform and getting thier cut till the end of time, I agree, it's bullshit.

We are, however, moving into an era where artists have much more control in terms of distribution, but there is so much to go into on a topic like this that 500 letters just isnt enough.

  • property=theft

  • 556th veiwer

  • lol...am so glad y'all are keepin track of yourselves...thanks for watching...

    =)

  • 460th viewer

  • 420th viewer

  • great views - I agree totally

  • mick or paddy: thanks!

    =)

  • oh, better camera? LOL can see a big difference. the copyright issue is a bummer...but it forces everyone to be more creative. So there is some good to it.

  • and thank goodness for imcompetech...All hail Kevin MacLeod!!! :D

  • kim: and thanks to certain people for making him popular!

    =)

  • Interesting information. New to me.

  • thank you...this is "hippie jam band shit" chosen on purpose for this..

i still hafta do the community part...forth installment...prolly this coming week.

and i will prolly put that show on here as soon as i learn how... =)

  • I think I get where you're coming from. I just never gave it that much thought I guess. I totally agree how you say with todays population it's impossible to do something entirely original. That's exactly what I think about everything; AND the history we've been taught. How can or can we ever really know who truly created what? It's disgusting to know there are lies being told even today. And how we are treated like cattle by corporations. Anarchy! :-P

  • sue: yeah it bugs me too...thank you for sharing your thoughts...am glad i am getting people to think about things...its fun....

    =)

  • I find your original point fairly trivial, since you cannot copyright a particular genre of music.

  • clarence: that wasnt my point. i am using classic rock as an example of how people saying copyright is appropriate and proper (and that its the right thing to do for artists, and that its fair) was and is built on shit.

of course you cant copyright a genre...

  • I think intellectual property is a fine line. I wish entertainers would be more open to allowing us to tell a story with their creations. Many upload music with photos, tell their personal life stories, etc., and I think its too anal. If Youtube doesnt get crazy anal about copyright, the corporation is going to go under though. Not sure, if people are aware of what legalities they are facing. ~Raven

  • raven: me too...when is it enough? when have we paid enough?

and yeah it sure is gonna be interesting to see what happens....

    always love your thoughts raven...

  • Lea, I wrote Youtube about having an icon for the musicians, artists, movies, etc., that would allow their music shared for vids. I think its a great idea because it would give them financial props as well as be giving in the Arts arena and those that didnt, would be slowly considered selfish too. I think it would help change the industry. ~Raven

  • Pt 1~ I realize that CEO's and management can make millions but I think that is fair. Its a big responsibility to keep a company going and keep people with jobs. When a corporation goes under, and many are without work, stress, divorce, grief, children with less or nothing, etc., all happen to many. ~Raven

  • Pt 2~ We know the stories of the bad CEO's and not much about the good ones because the gooe ones don't sell news. My point is, I know what its like to not find a decent job and I really respect it when a corporation can provide income for many. I think those higher ups responsible for that deserve their reward. There responsibilities are far great and to many. AND, I am NOT a Republican. I just respect having a job. ~Raven

  • raven: i have no firm affiliation to any political party, i find them all too limiting....and disruptive and distracting...

re ceo stress, why is there so much stress exactly? that needs to be addressed as well, is tied to bigger problem of us...

  • achampaq....well, there is more on a personal level that I can share with you privately but I respect the opportunities that corporations can offer. I am not painting corporations as pretty entities but realizing that a job is pretty cool. My grandmother went through the depression. Back in those days, corporations would be considered miracles. ~Raven

  • Youtube cant possibly monitor 100,000's of youtubers who upload videos. I dont think Youtube took it seriously before or as serious as they do now but I believe in corporations. Most of us, if owned a company would work hard to profit and if we have integrity, we wont step on people to do that. Corporations offer 10,000's of jobs to many who feed their kids. I think that rocks. Love you girl, but gotta disagree. Well, with some of what you said...~Raven

  • raven: hey i have no problem w companies making money, its just the subsequent stepping on people that i have a problem with. i would like to have a boat someday myself, just not 20.

    =)

  • YOutube is in trouble too...Courts, legal action could take youtube under. I realize that they are getting tougher on copyright but if they dont, Youtube will be down due to financial costs saying, "guilty" in the courts. ~Raven

  • Copyright is a word that scares the hell outta me lol....as like many others....fantasticc points and a very good video indeed.

  • notes1980: thank you!

and yeah as an artist, i bet it does

  • I like your line of reasoning. It's hard to know, anymore, what is usable and what isn't. I think it's a little like the jerks who created the "midi" format and waited until virtually everyone on the web was using it, then sued.

  • marc: exactly...the lying...the layers of deception for profit...it seriously makes me feel like a slave

  • One more thing I feel VERY strongly about: I believe that as long as a video does not make any money, why can't you use the music you want? YouTube is the perfect place to share music interests. I think YouTubers actually promote the selling of music. If I use a piece of music someone likes, they will go pay to download it - so in the end, bands who are long forgotten actually get a boost. Who knows what bands would be popular if we all knew what they sounded like?

  • myrealitybytes: the problem isnt that we are making money, its that youtube IS.

i would go farther and say that if people really love their blessed capitalism, if it is really so wonderful, and might is right and so forth, then what cant we have the total free for all and rape whatever the fuck we want, however we want, just to get paid baby...?

  • yeah sorry, am feelin a bit mouthy today...

have been a little cranky since the big guy left...

  • You make some excellent points on this video. What about all the poor black blues players who never made a cent, while bands like Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton & the Rolling Stones became billionaires?

  • myrealitybytes: and what about the smaller musicians, who never made hardly anything? floyd is an interesting example, with all the syd went thru....

at least some of the led zeppelins actually got paid....

  • Really effective use of your eye focus, facial expressions, hand gestures and body language for greater emphasis, while making your points, in this one!!!

  • positive: very bright channel you have there! and thank you...i just knew what i wanted to say and let go...

  • Yeah, another layer of YT defense ◆‡≡

    Merry Relaxmas ≡÷þ

  • positive: oh thanks, thats neat....

    and ditto sweetie!

    =)

ps, i have a thing for hearts..

  • Here YA go:

    tinyurl(dot)com/2retc9

    LOL,

    PEACE OUT

  • Copyleft and Open Source <3

  • matt: what?

  • copyleft is the opposite of copyright and open source is basicaly the same.

any kind of thing (software, music, art, scientific discoveries, ...) distributed with a license that alows modification, distribution, ... without the modificator or distributer having to pay anything, as long as they publish their product under the same license with the addition that it has to be non-profit stuff usualy.

incompetech-music for example is like that

  • this is the age of the capitalist lawyer. They're no longer ambulance chasers, they're file sharing chasers! Woopeedoo. Imagine the intellectual properties of those individuals who spent years studying law, just to help people get banned from YT and the like; to have people taken to court and fined thousands of dollars for downloading some music. Hit the companies that provide these services if you must, but to call it a theft of any sort is bunkum.

  • tam: thank you for sharing your thoughts...

and yeah, law school is hard work...to what end? the computer people are becoming more powerful than the lawyers...scary....this should hopefully be a three part series, computers and others next...then on to community...

  • I agree...also the clarity of your vid is amazing! ;)

  • lisa: thank you! yeah it was tough. i just needed about 8 hours to figure out the whole camera thing and the file converting...but i did it by myself! it does feel pretty damn good to have figured it all out, and understand it...ok, understand most of it!

    =)

  • i didn't know that about pink floyd.

  • pc just left my channel hahahahahahahahaha! wow nice quality picture, lea! nice rant and so true! basstids...

  • liz: yeah sometimes you just gotta say it how you gotta say it... =)

love the basstids...am still thinkin bout your tree!

  • Looking great Leah, I just use music as I please on my vids,

Favourited this video cause I want to watch it again.

    James

  • james: thank you! and thats how it should be. and thanks for telling me you fav'd it. i never know who does that!

  • You look great in this vid. It's clear, best pic yet :)

  • craig: thanks sweetie. i bet you know all the work and attempted shots i did for this...i had an excellent helper elf to watch and learn software from! am lucky as hell; some of the friends i've got..

    =)

  • Ypou tell em Lea. I was thinking that if you was able to get hold of family members of say Jimi H, And said you would like to use his music in your background when making a video for youtube. I would think they would be pleased that your keeping him alive in this way. And bringing him to the attention of the younger generation. Great video Lea.

  • kim: thank you! i actually knew i guy once who worked for the estate in seattle...oh the paperwork! impossible for people like us....

  • Oh your videos are looking great as of late. :)

    Lovely job, great points. :)

  • shannon: thanks! yeah have been learning a lot...slowly but surely....a lot of trial and error...i have posted many private "testers" late at night....

  • I was going to write something insightful and complementary to your arguments about intellectual property, capitalism, and human nature, but instead I'll wait for the second vid.

  • tbillz: saw rw emerson in your profile....please go ahead and share now if you wish...i am too tired to do another vid tonight prolly, and an issue has come up for me to deal w as well. family.

  • Lea your picture & sound is great, as for the copyshite I often thought that slipping a little music into a vlog is a lot like playing a CD when friends come around or at least that's why I place it there, maybe if we made money from it they would have a case but for the most part its just music in the background.:)

  • mike: copyshite...lol....i think we should be able to use it however we want......what about when i learn to edit and i want to make like cool music vids or something?

  • I cant wait to see, I'm sure you will nail it no problem.:)

  • You have a very interesting flow of speech. You sort of meander on for a while and almost seem to have lost where you are going before wham, almost like a bolt of lightening you seem to be able to draw it all back in. It's very entertaining to watch and listen to.

  • sam: yeah i dont know what to say to that...thanks for noticing. it is a large topic w many parts...i dont know how i kept it cohesive w out notes...the next part has notes...

    =)

  • Agree!!!! HUGS xoxo

  • peggy: hugs back atcha! hope you guys are snuggled in warm...

  • Who's TJ?

  • Oh shit yeah Amazing Atheist. duuuh

  • hi sammmmmtwwist........

  • Hey! It wasn't that stooopid. :-)

Just one of those momentary relapses

I refer to him as TAA, plus I didn't realise his book was out

  • i was being nice sweetie....

  • Oh I thought you were saying my name really slow like duuuuuuuur!

I know you but I don't know where from, I only just discovered your vlogs tho.

    pretty nice, pretty pretty nice.

  • Had some good points. One point/argument that I always didn't like is the whole 'white people were influenced and basically stole black people music'. That point is retarded and pretty much racist. When black people are influenced by other black people it is just a part of sharing culture but then when white people are influenced by black people they are seen as just exploiting a group of people.

  • theovin: w/out looking it up...tell me the names of the two men whom pink floyd is named after.....

  • Can you tell me the people who heavily influenced Ray Charles? I see the point that you are trying to make. But in a way that makes the point against yours, because they were paying homage to those 2 musicians. My point was that people don't care if Ray Charles was heavily influenced by other black people but if Pink Floyd was influenced by black people, it is somehow becomes a terrible thing. All musicians become influenced by other musicians.

  • theovin: i certainly never meant to insinuate that any influence that floyd may have had would in any way be "a terrible thing....."

i will speak more clearly regarding race and money tomorrow...thats not really where i was trying to go, but....

  • it does bear discussing briefly in all this...

dont expect me to offend...and dont expect to know what i am gonna say....

    =)

  • storm: i got your empire right here...

    =)

  • There is simple answer to that, the big boys have 'empires to protect' and Riaa are the ground troops for their inforcement.

The irony is Goggle is an Empire too, and they can do what they damn please because with power and money you make you own rules.

  • Most surveys show that people that download music illegally are the biggest percentage of people that also buy music legally.

  • geo: well i just buy the shit...and sometimes i get burned cds given to me...

  • "Fuck that and Fuck You"...LOL You ROCK Lea!!

    Five Stars!!

  • madbad: sometimes i cannot help myself...

    =)

  • Wow...cool b&w look, amazing clarity. I and many others are paranoid about every snippet of music in our vids. Is Chinese folk music allowed? Who knows? We're all taking our chances.

  • robert: thanks...thm to avi to wmv to youtube....sheesh!

and there are no rules....not that are being followed..ie liberal viewer's vid...

  • wow, much improved picture, you look stunning *whistle*

  • geo: *smiles*

  • You've delved into the issue with both feet. At the end you worked into a key point and that is the de-centralization of music again.

There are a lot of issues here: the guys that started "stealing" the music and rights when I was a kid and marketing to my generation first then food chained it up to a much higher corporate greed level. It has now spiraled out of control...I have to think about a vid response or not.

  • jr: yeah i didnt get to the computer industry or the community yet.....but this is where i had to start.

  • You did a great start, it's like we talked about, carry on. I don't want to tip my hand in text what I should be doing in a vid.

  • jr: lmao! tippin your hand....

  • great video, your camera and sound are MUCH better, props..

  • chromosome: that means a lot coming from you...

  • yeah... I never understood the copyright issue... youtube wise... isn't it like someone who uses a song in a video because they like the song (or whatever) is okay as long as they aren't tring to say they came up with the idea in the first place... I don't know

copyright issues is too deep for me tonight, and alittle bit too mundane

    GREAT VIDEO

  • jennifer: thank you. i may finally be learning to edit.

    =)

  • that's good... it is really fun... I love to edit, heck at least 3/4ths of my videos are editied... and I sooooo understand what you meant in your video

    : )

  • jennifer: i bet you are getting really good at it! and i am glad it was easy to understand.

    =)

  • well said...like where your coming from...

  • stretch: thanks...esp from a musician...

  • a musician....in some serious training..lol...people make music so others can enjoy it....if we are using "their" music on this medium...i cant see what the problem is...look at all the free advertising they are getting...we are doing them a favor by using their music...

  • stretch: thats not how they seem to want it...

  • The new camera works great! I came to YT for the bootlegs and like you I have never illegally downloaded music, but that doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed listening to bootleg uploaded music. And yes, we do have everything we need. We have much more than what we need. What we seem to fail to recognize is the difference between want and need.

  • gg: yes! thank you! i am expected to want more shit, when truly i feel bad for what i have now...

  • YouTube cut deals with all the major labels that allow creators of original content to use their songs in vids. The info is posted on YouTube's press page. The way I understand it, if they do not find the way you use it offensive it will probably be left alone. YouTube compensates them with free advertising, and promotion. I'll send you the links.

  • allen: and give us whatever shitty censored version they want? and what about when it isnt music, what when its government data? is that ok to censor too?

  • Unfortunately they can, as a privately owned company. That is why I uploaded my PTSD vid on every sharing site I could think of.

  • allen: yup...the way it is verses how it could be...

  • hey allen, how about a pm of the names of all those sites?

  • Awesomeness!!!

  • thanks meanblackdude!

  • I agree with you 100%.

You know by my videos, that I 'borrow' other people's stuff, and use it in a different context, but usually i don't do it an injustice.

So why can't someone share something already played around, they we like, and pretty much giving THEM free advertising, saying that we like it enough to use it.

I can understand brand new stuff, but I think we should be able to share what we enjoy personally.

  • btw, i'm impressed with the camera quality here....looking very good, lea!

    =)

  • aries: thank you for sharing your thoughts...

and the setup and fooling around took hours...am glad people are liking it!

  • Wow video Looks incredible and sounds much better. I think that as long as you own the Material.. CD..DVD or what ever, you should be able to use the material how ever you want to aslong as you credit the original owner. lolz. now why would anyone download free music...limewire lolz. Is that B&W or Sepia tint in this vid? i think this is going to be a hit. Straight to fav.

  • pat: this is B & W....and thanks...

    =)

  • Roger closed his account do you know why? I'm sketching a lot of people off of YouTube and I drew him I wanted him to see it when I was done drawing people and he closes his account ahhhh :/

lol @ you trying to be serious cute :D

  • choseung: you might come up when i talk about free speech soon. hope you dont mind.

please draw him anyway...attach as response to my newest vid. there should be tribute channels soon to reference.

  • I don't care but I'm not doing anything wrong everything I do is under the TOS. We don't have freedom of speech on here or anywhere its just an illusion the Jews have taken it away from us. I make a video about Islam,Jews,Race etc it'll get removed for sure I can't be myself sucks.

He was the first one I drew once I have drawn a lot of people I'll buy a scanner and make a video its gonna pwn.

  • cho: i cant wait....

    =)

  • I know no one can :P It'll be a wile though I'm lazy and I don't wanna buy a scanner I like saving my money and spending other peoples lool.
