My grandfather was an extreme hypochrondiac. He thought he had all kinds of weird diseases. Ebola lassa fever madcow sars bubonic plague strokes diseases that came from space. The disorder is real a lot of their symptoms are real they are psychosomatic they are not pretending they believe they are sick. He would make noises like 5 people being tortured but he actually thought he was in pain.

Good try spockRMC. I think this video more of demonstrates somatization disorder rather than hypochodriasis. With hypochodriasis the person takes one somatic problem and kind of over exaggerate the symptoms (in the start they may indeed have a small illness). Lets use ur video for example, The person may have a common cold...they may go to a hospital that confirms that. the next week they may say they have lung cancer.

I really hope that you were not trying to be accurate in your demonstration of Hypochondriasis because the disorder is nothing even close to what you portrayed in this video. If you are going to try and educate the public about this debilitating disorder please do your research first!!

i suffer from hypochondria. i dont know if i should tell my primary doc, or my psychiatrist. my psych. always tells me to talk with my therapist but maybe he would take it serious if i mentioned it. i never thought about getting help for this specifically. i take lexapro and seroquel for general anxiety and depression.
