  • I think she tried to capture the drama and excitement of this piece and the sadness Bach must've felt when his wife died and I think she did it very nicely :)

Next time don't advertise it by saying it's the best, just Hillary Hahn is enough :)

  • Part 2/2 was difficult to find, it has less views than part 1.

  • I really wish she will find her soul-mate.

  • We have a winner!

    Hilary Hahn...

    Best Bach Chaconne...

    Subliminal phrasing...

  • Now why do people think classical music is lame? They should listen to this...

  • Video flagged for child abuse.

  • at 6:16 the piano player isn't she Valentina Lisitsa???

  • @88global88 Yes, it is.

  • Such beauty and intensity!

  • brought me to tears...

  • the best - i agree. she is just incredible. i think if Bach could listen to this interpretation, he would cry and thank the Lord...

  • She gives the theme real emotion. The way it should be played . with frasing

  • not too baroque sounding, but it is an amazzing interpretation. i fall in love all over again every time i see and hear hilary play!

  • Muito talento sensibilidade e sutileza. Parabéns

    Cezar Doria

  • Amazing piece. Amazing composer. Amazing musician. Amazing interpretation. AMAZING! :)

  • Hilary's playing has a maturity and refinement that most well known violinists lack.

  • Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • ¿La mejor?Tal vez no...

    Prefiero a Perlman,Heifetz o Vengerov.

Ahora bien,en arte, esto parece una cuestion menor y Hilary Hahn, puede llegar a ser una de las realmente grandes.

  • not the best... but pretty darn good :P

  • She was about 17 when she recorded this... !!!!!!!

  • this model looking shit is for fucking people who cant distinguish between the sound of a dump truck and a violin

  • A beautiful interpretation, yes. Enjoyable, respectable, even awe-inspiring? Yes. Best interpretation? No. That is an impossible claim for a masterpiece that has been approached by every violin genuis through the ages. Everyone on youtube uses "best" in their titles. :(

  • there is no such thing as a "best" interpretation. but there is a favourite for every person since we are different and music hits us in different ways. for me this interpretation is extremely clean and i love it. however being a deep individual i prefer perlman's version since i feel that he brings out this chaconne's sorrow and hopefulness better and makes me FEEL bach's lyrical line.

but i will never impose my ideas on other individuals ESP MUSIC! example some may like a faster version.

  • 5:06 is my fav, i also must state the whole thing is my fav(pardon the contradiction)

  • 7:27 is my favorite part.

  • @halneufmille No it's 1:50.

  • She's a lady from the Renaissance era.

  • arthur grumiaux and itzhak perlman is much better

  • I love this musician

  • Heifetz, by a MILE!!!!!! good though... maybe after a couple more decades of living she'll have a better view of it

  • @elopez4024 i didnt know they were competing. how do you play?

  • Genialne

  • i've never seen ANYONE playing that instrument so clean and pure!!!

  • Hilary Hahn is the best! I love her interpretation of Bach! This is a wonderful piece, and in my opinion, Ms. Hahn played it at the perfect tempo! :)

  • Her music, her beauty, so humbling, so otherworldly,

  • it doesnt matter how much spirit you put into it, she is playing bach who doesnt need anything from the performer bach speaks from himself... the best interpretation of bach!!! great hann

  • @storkonhudson

    So do I.

I had her autograph on my forearm. I would have liked to have had it tatoo'd.

  • I just can't seem to find the same admiration for these modern artist as I do the legends of the past (Heiftez, Oistrakh, Menuhin, Milstein, Stern, Francescati, Enesco, Gitlis, Kogan, Szigeti, Elman, Ferras). Don't get me wrong, Hilary Hahn is a fantastic violinist. But, like most modern artists for me, something is missing. It just sounds too perfect for me. It lacks the personal colour of imperfection. But nonetheless, what a magnificent talent she is. Thanks uploader.

  • @garrrynec I hear what you're saying. I am a fan of HH, but I'm a bigger fan of a violinist named Chuanyun Li. Just search for his name (or the phrase "crazy violinist") and you'll see some of his performances.

  • @garrrynec the best way i can describe it is how much people stress over playing in tempo nowadays. the old greats.. they knew where the beats where at heart and could mess with everything inbetween, especially oistrakh. I completely adore how Ms. Hahn has atuned herself to be able to get a single virato rhythem to any song, but then theres no variety! Thats just my partake on what it might be...

  • Beautiful Hilary Hahn

  • lets hear what the experts have to say cut/ paste and search the below in youtube :

Jascha Heifetz: Paganini: Caprice No. 24; and Wieniawsky + Tchaikovsky etc

  • Simply wonderful!!!! J.S. Bach is surely amazed by her performance!!!!

  • BRAAAAVO

  • Still getting shivers from this rendition of Hilary playing Bach. The overtones are giving me goose bumps. Divine!!! truly ...Peace & love through music of the spheres, which I believe this is.

  • i don't really see where the best interpretation is? Thank god there are better players.

  • What?! This is one of the BEST played and interpreted versions. every note clean and ringing, all chords played with out harshness but a tone so pure and elegant. Bach would be very proud!

  • I love the vintage movie reel feel of the video! This piece kind of reminds me of a vintage reel. I love this piece. I've been playing it for years now since I was 16, I'm not 22 and it's only starting to sound the best it can be!

  • Certified Intergalactic! Love this Bach Chaccone by Hilary Hahn with a feminine touch.

  • Godlike.

  • Ah god, I almost cried. As a violinist of three years, I can play the the notes and rythms of this piece, but never with this type of expression. This is really the piece that gave me a true respect for Bach, due to the fact that I normally sneer at baroque music, but this... is just amazing.

  • If I could just play 1/100 like her. wow would be halfway to haven already.

  • she is really beautiful, like an angel..

  • @Jackpotur that is what i was thinking.

  • @Jackpotur i thought it was the music what mattered

  • @atirisdes her utterly ethereal beauty matches with the music like no other perfomer could match, so it's also important

  • She plays Prelude #3 too fast and this is too slow and too romantic. Very well technic, wonderful polyphony, but it's dragging. No development what so ever. Intensive vibrato in piano sections. No, I don't think this is the best Bach interpretation.

  • Right, i'm absolutely agree with u plemax...even with big "help" of modern studio sounds it's realy not the best of Chaccone interpretation...i imagine in live it wil be aufully...

  • @my666vs777 <--- pay no attention to this one. It hates Hilary, and probably women in general. Even if she had the talents of herself, Milstein, Heifetz and Kogan combined, it would still find something negative to say about her. Ignore.

  • @voxhunden small boy, u was born IDIOT and u will die like IDIOT! U try to compare Hahn with Milstein -Heifetz, Kogan... the greatest interpreters and virtuose of Bach ever! Cretin! one daily life of this men = 10 years of yours life - miserable insect! So best reply to u - ignorance.

  • The best violinist ever?

    Is Hilary Hahn.

  • the best interpretation?

  • Good girl, Hilary. Go get them. Beautiful Bach, very expressive. We love you.

  • i hate when people say goo girl/boy make it sounds like there a dog or something

  • Who said i was trying to lecture you? "

Son " i dont want to be your son get that striaght i barely think you have a IQ of 188 if your calling me your son. And no im not going to get use to people calling me good boy. so u get use to it and i hope u dont say that to me " you got that son?"

  • You mispelled shepard.

  • Why do you two bother arguing at all? You are never gonna meet. Not gonna change your opinions by sending a comment, just gonna make each other mad and enhance those hideous anger wrinkles that i am sure you both have.

  • Me too!! Well I am very patriotic, but i am not jewish, but i never knew hilary hahn was jewish! Go U.S.A.!! Wow i am very pleased to see you removed all the comments. The world needs more people like you.

  • I don't think she's Jewish, I remember reading articles (or may be from her journal) mentioning that she's 3/4 British and the last name "Hahn" is German meaning "hen".

  • That is true; I cannot say about the Jewish part, but Hahn does mean hen (actually "chicken" or sometimes "cock" if not specifically used in the feminine).

  • "Hahn" denotes a male chicken only.

  • Actually she is not Jewish.

  • 188 is a good I.Q.

  • Not much of a problem solver if he's starting arguments!

  • yeeeeah, why?

  • hehe. Yeah. :o)

  • It is indeed beatiful and deep. Truly touching. Congratulations, Hillary.

  • Absolutely, unbelievably beautiful.
