  • Yul Brynner is the BOSS

  • i wish we can wear his dress normally these days.

  • i know you posted this some time ago, but i've just watched it after not seeing the movie for several years. when i first saw this movie as a kid, i laughed so hard at this part, and i did again just now :) thanks for making my day!

  • Pairs of male elephants hahaha

  • LOL @ him reading about Moses though, love it :D

  • この映画を観てから

    エトセトラ・エトセトラ・エトセロラ

    が口癖になりました。

  • Moses, Moses, Moses!

  • Her skirts!

  • Isn't it funny that The King thinks Moses is an idiot and the actor who plays him(Yul Brynner) in the same year plays Ramases who hates Moses. That is a BIG coinkidink.

  • The King is so funny. =)

  • awesome part, laughed so much.... but awesoome film, i prefer this version to the Anna and the King, starring jodie foster and chow yun fat

  • Seriously, if I was the king, I would bent her over and blown my load in her. So let it be written, so let it be done. Etc, etc, etc...

  • What a great scene this is! Next to Victor/Victoria I have always favored this wonderful movie! :)

  • Yul is a babe

  • Yul was pretty sexy!

  • they had glasses there and then?

  • Sooooo Ironic that He would call Moses a fool, then some years later he'd play Pharoah in the 10 commandments!

  • ehy is she sooooo old?

  • I thought Yul Brynner knew Moses personally... Oh wait that was Rameses.

  • Every time I see this scene there's a little voice in the back of my mind going "I want that pillow!" He looks so comfortable reading like that!

  • hahahaha your moses shall have been a fool! :D

6 days was written just to give a concept of stages of the creation. The world was created before any structured calendar day was known.

  • hahahaha "i think your moses shall been a fool" oh my goodness that was hilarious, they did that on purpose i love yul brynner

  • its funny because he played rameses in the movie ben hur which was about moses haha

  • that's a big fricken bible

  • 2:15

King of Siam (thailand): Etcetera, Etcetera, Etcetera.

    LOL.

  • I think maybe he is jealous that he lost in the Ten Commandments. I <3 Yul Brynner.

  • YU ARE VERY VERY DIFFICULT WOOMAN

  • King Mongkut is so cute!

    Yul is the best!

  • He really liked the word Ect!

    Ect, ect, ect!

  • YOU ARE VERY DIFFICULT WOMAN! XD

  • There is a movie with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr on youtube called "The Journey" if you like this movie as much as I do you might be interested :D

  • I would gladly sit when he says sit.Sigh...I miss him

  • "When I sit you should sit! When I kneel you should kneel! ETC! ETC! ETC!'

  • GREAT SCENE! MANY THANKS.

  • I think your moses shall have been a fool! hahahah! wonderful..

that is not reason, but first i wish to discuss moses...

  • King support LGBT. XD

  • they are like husband and wife, yes he had all those "wives" that are quite passive and allow him to rule and rightly so. But she speaks her mind and with that he has never met a woman as strong minded as him or most probably any man around that time. so its fun to watch them bicker because you can see a mutual respect for each other :D

  • That is one, big-ass dress.

  • "Ah-meh-ri-ca."

  • "Come to me no more, Moses, for the day you see my face again you will surely die!"

~ Rameses II, as played by Yul Brynner...

  • Hey Rick, excellent & without a doubt for me, one of the most memorable scenes in the King and I. My parents had season tickets to the Pantages back in the 70's and took me to many of the plays, & I was lucky enough to see Yul Brynner in the King and I (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas had to wait to the 80's, lol), but as mytruepower2 commented, the extinction does seem to be apparent...but thanks to you we still get to remember. Cinemascope 55 ~Richer! Deeper! Clearer!

  • @NODUSTYLE LOL! Well, thank you --- but, really --- I own the DVD, I post in HD, this is a particularly clear transfer. I can't take credit for it's rich tone. But thank you! And how lucky you were to see the one and only King (well, besides Elvis.) LOL! Thanks for commenting.

  • @cinephile21 I wish u would upload the whole movie. i really want to see it. Its been so, so long since the last time.

  • @NODUSTYLE I am so Jealous u got to see him!! I am so in love with that bald man <3

  • @NODUSTYLE

Wow! What was Yul Brynner like on stage? If I could see one person on stage it would be him. Can't think of a modern day star that touches him for pure allure, style and grace. He was a complete one-off.

  • Love the picture quality. Brynner and Kerr were great together in this and also The Journey is good. Great scene here, et cetera, ... I must say Yul still has one of the most sexiest voices. Thanks for sharing. ;)

  • 3:07 etc etc etc!

  • You are very difficult woman!! LOL.

  • I'm not sure exactly why, but it seems like tasteful cinema like this has gradually become extinct, except for a few pockets here and there (coughpixarandghiblicough.)

I loved the Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, and in fact, most of the films from that era, but this was my favorite. I even preferred it to the sound of music, in a lot of ways, because it had a culture clash, while still retaining its sense of values.

  • @mytruepower2 Excellent comment! Thank you.

  • @cinephile21

    You're welcome.

  • You wouldn't have to ask me twice to lay down with Yul Brynner.

  • @melville80 me neither

  • Creation was a literal six day affair. Not several centuries.

  • "Only MALE elephants, your majesty?" =__=''

"... YOU put on the details." D:<

  • @missAUDACITY Good Night! XD

  • Lol awesome. Just seen the movie, and i was laughing so much when he began to Say All that etcetera Stuff. So damn funny

  • "Oh, your majesty is reading the Bible!"

I love how she says that like she's a mother proud of her child for something like putting away his toys or setting the table.

  • @watersmith106 which is precisely why this orientalist depiction of a caricatured Asian king is controversial. The musical basically is telling the audience that the King of Siam needed an ENGLISH woman to teach him the ways of the world.
