About 10 years ago, a little 20 foot tree at the corner of home was struck by lightening. All we heard was a loud BANG, as though a stick of dynamite fired off. I looked outside and noticed that the tree trunk was split in half and was steaming. That was interesting.

@dingutscal Actually it hit two large trees across the street. Blew the bark off them and melted the blacktop at their base. The bolt arced into the middle of the street. It missed the tree you're referring to.

Here in Arizona we have a season dedicated to thunderstorms like this. We get storms like this about every night during Monsoon Season. Still this video impressed me, how did it feel to be that close to a lightning strike?

I live in southern RI....and the system that caused this awesome Tstorm must've weakened dramatically before reaching my area here... my last good Tstorm in southern RI in 2008 was on 7/27/08... BTW...was this Tstorm videotaped on 8/7/08? Anyways..a good friend of mine audiotaped me a monster of a Tstorm on 5/31/02 in Goshen CT...had that video been YouTube-d--it would also have won major EMMIES!!!
