Don't go to dunkin donuts and star bucks then maybe places like this (and others like it) would have had a means to stay open (and prosper.) However, since most people are sheep, they do what they're advertised to do without realizing the damage (loss) they cause. We, the People (each of us) decides. Choose to shop/buy local mom and pop. Or have more of the same, the same boring sh*t. I drive past places like that. Do the same n' make a difference. We have the power. Worth considering I think--
im gonna say it once and im gonna say it again F*CK starbucks F*ck u ur coffee sucks its too strong its too expensive every one knows dunkin donuts pwns ur dumbasses and stop taking small loved bussiness like this away from honest and good people if somone reads this go to starbucks and tape a sign tht says "Hi welcome to starbucks we scam u out of ur hard earned money and our coffee and food is stale but we dont care all we want is ur money" anywhere outside of the store lmfao tht show dem
Nice post, it makes me sick to know Rocky Point Park is gone. I am disappointed with the Rhode Island government over this. I am a former R.I. resident so I can say this. R.I. always prided itself by preserving Heritage. R.I. has some of the oldest and most beautiful homes and buildings. You would think they would Save AMERICA'S SECOND OLDEST AMUSEMENT PARK! Go figure... Someone should have stepped in and saved the park. Just makes me sick. Nice post, Thank You.
Now, its not even a Starbucks anymore. Their coperate closed it down in April 2009 (no great loss their) Somehow I think that the Rocky Point Chowder House will someday reamerge.
Wow this was sad to hear as well and I wished I had heard about this place of RP before it closed and at least we all have the great memories of our travels to RP and I have mine for sure and will never let go of them. Thanks for posting this. ;-))
Man, what a drag this is, that this Rocky Point Chowder House is now gone. Somebody's trying to kill the name of Rocky Point in RI. I LOVED the chowder there! Now a freakin' STARBUCK'S takes its place; with apologies to all you coffee drinkers we don't need another Starbucks! We've got one around every corner, but no more Rocky Point Chowder House. RRRAAAR!! Just one person's opinion.
Thanks. I don't know why but my family never took me there. We always ate at the chowder house in the park. I miss that park. I'm 28 years old and went there all the time when we would vacation to R.I. to my grandma's house. Now I'll never get to take my kids. So sad......people just can't be happy with simple pleasures. It's gotta be bigger, and faster, and more, more, more! I will always treasure my memories of good old Rocky Point. Peace.

was this restaurant in the park or somewhere near it? I don't have any memory of it.

No, this was located off site, several miles down the road (on Post Rd. in Warwick).
