I was lucky enough to be at Leeds/Elland Road gig (often mentioned by Brian and Roger to be one of their best) and it was incredible. We waited all day in the warm sun, sat through Teardrop, Joan Jett and Heart and then one by one, the massive diamond floodlights went off to the beat of Flash.
The same intro sounded out to an almightly roar from the crowd and then Queen ran on to the stage to The Hero; the loudest noise I have ever heard in my life! Sheer class from start to end - legends!
It really is no surprise that the best live bands of today (eg the Foo Fighters and Muse) were heavily influenced by Queen with a concert intro like this. Utterly brilliant.
I saw Queen live twice in my life with Freddie. In 1977 and 1980. For the 80 show I sat front row center. At the 77 show, a guy sitting next to me was smoking pot the entire show. I asked if i could use his binoculars, he said sure. I watched the entire show as if I was on the stage. For the 80 show where I sat front row, the guy next to me yelled up to Freddie about some Heineken beer on the piano. He came over with the cup, saluted us, drank from it, and then gave it to us. Truly awesome!
Én 87-ben, születtem, nekem esélyem sem volt:( De fateromék kitornázták magukat, van Freddietől autogramjuk egy eredeti Night at the opera bakelit borítóján:)
Im so jealous of my father, somewhere in the crowd he is standing next to a guy smoking hash and someone drinking wine im coke bottles, unfortunatley i was too young and missed this; he truly watched quite possible the greatest music group in the world live at the bowl. I cant stand to think of a future with the horrible music groups that plague the modern day world. No matter how many times i watch this i badly wish i was there.

after all these years it still sends me shivers down my spine when you feel how the tension is rising and the audience gets louder and louder until the band starts playing. and it rises more and more and more and when freddie enters the stage everything seems to just explode.
@ambie6664 no, they are not. I saw them back in 1982 in Hamburg in the Ernst-Merck-Halle Germany. The venue was halfful of people, and F.M. was on drugs. But It was boring, one of the badest concert I have ever attended.
@Guenniistes Well thats what you say. But lets see what the rest of the world says. I would say even the badest concert from Queen would probably equal the same as a good concert now or even better.
@ambie6664 hello there, but beleave me; even hardcore fans like you would say that this was very bad; and by the way at that time they very "unpopular" in a sense of old fashioned. Best greetings.
@Guenniistes When you say this was bad do you mean Queen live at the Bowl? Do you have any footage of Freddie drugged up in Hamburg when you went to see them?
@ambie6664 no, no live in Hamburg; and you wouls agree. F.M. was obvious on drugs, it was a very boring concert. And don´t forget "Queen did some very amazing songs but still a unch of crapy songs. And live it was very boring cause F.M.- couldn´t get through the lod gituar of B.M. still have a fan book of the 1982 "hot space"-tour.
@ambie6664 The worst one was montreal cas the fuckin crowd sucked they didn't sing they didn't know the words and freddie had to encourage the crowd through words to get them to sing along.
The thing is, the first night the crowd must be sit on their chair, but the second night no more chair. Love of my life was not a single in america back in the day.
@DeStCyr And because of that reason the crowd sucked??????? No how can you not sing to we are the champions or crazy little thing called love oh and i am not the only one that shares this opinion.

I was at this gig. What a blinding opener..most bands couldn't even play an encore with that amount of energy and Queen are only two songs into the set!
He truly commanded the audience... greatest star that ever lived. He did everything he could to make sure the fans had the most fun they could possibly ever have.
One of the best concerts they ever did. Freddie's voice was on form. Love back chat, save me, now I'm here, love of my life, play the game and my favourite from this concert Somebody to love.

not just on cameras.. on you too lol.. when you're on a stage with a spotlight in your face you see noting around, like if the audience was in the dark
I have the recording of this concert on my i-pod its one of the best live performances ever its so great to see them playing, I only wish I could have been there! God Rest Freddie he was great.
Absolutely fantastic!! I was there and remember the helicopter coming in before they started. What a great group and a great start to a concert!!!!!!!
Every rock god should make entrance on stage like he had! No other group matches their energy! Like in Live Aid, they know how to customise their songs to live performance!!
Love his clothes btw!! He had a really cool style in clothing:D I was inspired by the lightning on some of his clothes, so now i have plenty of clothes with lightning bolts on themxD
'Flash' was the first song they performed, as in this clip... I was there :o) I will dig out my program for the concert at some time and let you know the running order if you like. It was the best concert I have ever, ever been to... shame Freddie is no longer with us o(
And I just realized something that has always got me, as a none smoking health freak..Freddie Mercury was a fucking chain smoker??? Always a butt in his hand..you could see him having a drag sometimes off stage he he
He ran up and down that stage for over 2 hours like a marathon runner...If he had survived AIDS he would have been a GREAT advert FOR smoking LMFAO ...hell I might have even taken it up myself LMAO
Freddie smokes to lower the tone of his voice. It's a thing which most opera tenors do and having a voice in the tenor range it was what Freddie thought was best for the music
I was there he he :) I remember some git saying "They won't go on until the Sun goes down!!" all with authority just as Flash struck up LMAO.
I don't think there was a better opening by anyone in the Eighties. Mr May walks forward does a bit and they cheer then the Gay bloke in white came forward and it exploded...I can remember the cheer even now. It was a fucking awesome performance on a hot that day too, Hells Angels security and warm beer....wot a fucking gig :)
wish ide seen them live . the best band /live band in the world .

Your right about that 1rendezvous.
The only problem is there was only ever one rock god and he's no longer with us :(

Love his clothes btw!! He had a really cool style in clothing:D I was inspired by the lightning on some of his clothes, so now i have plenty of clothes with lightning bolts on themxD

Oberon already has. Look on the "About this video" on more. Oberon has been kind enough to say on his videos.

Hi

It's a thing which most opera tenors do and having a voice in the tenor range it was what Freddie thought was best for the music

what utter bullshit!! LOL

Strange to see Freddie performing without his half mic stand. He had to ditch it so he could get up to the higher parts of the stage.
