  • I knew Hitler inspired the development of the Beetle from as far back as 1938. The original is still popular today as it has ever been and I wonder if it will still be as popular in 70 years from now when I'm 102. Also, remour has it Hitler use to ejaculate when he use to dictate. Does anyone know if Hitler rode a motorbike?

  • @1100HondaCB If you go to your local bookstore and pick up a copy of a book called BUG,you'll see he had designed it as far back as 1933

  • @1957thunderbird312 Interesting! I guess Hitler started the desings in 1933, but the car was marketed for the buyer in 1938. The design was well ahead of its time I think. Did Hitler ride a motorbike?

  • when he says Georgia, does he mean the state or the country?

  • Aww, I was hoping for one of the old ones :(

  • why does he like this car?

  • jeremy is racist with the mexicans

  • still better than a Prius

  • the new beetle is a girls car

  • 1:49 now i know who started with this madness of re-subtitle those old Hitler movies...

  • I wonder what he would say about it now

  • the old beetle was designed by ferdinand porsche and not by adolf hitler ....

  • I'm 6'4" and can't fit in a new beetle.... hm...

  • it only has a 6V battery? SO WHAT?

and the engine's in the wrong place. NO, NOW IT'S IN THE WRONG PLACE!

and it's a rust bucket. UM, NOPE. 30+ ys. hardly any rust...

and it keeps breaking down. WRONG AGAIN! never let us down, even when going to the holiday with a wrongly screwed sparkplug

(Jeremy, you obviously never had an original beetle!)

NOW, someone tell me that girl's phone number!

  • its not a beetle. this car is the exact opposite of a beetle. the real beetle was designed to be a cheap ,low-maintianance ,rear engined ,machine for the people and simple designed. this is over-priced, water-cooled, front-mounted engine ,and overly complicated. What a P.O.S !

  • "made in mexico, where the workers are paid in chickens"...I dídn´t see the goddamn mexican newscasters making a fuss about this one, but they made it about the funny comments about the sportscar...

  • @TheSRalston Probably because Top Gear wasn't well-known around the globe in 1998 as compared to today, so not many Mexicans were watching it, if any. Me being an American, I never heard of Top Gear until I started using YouTube and looking up sportscar videos back some 6-7 years ago. lol

They do not air Top Gear (UK version) in America on any American channels. I have to put on BBC America to watch it.

  • @Northax A good point. If it wasn´t for Youtube I wouldn´t had seen it, probably. Thank you!

  • That thing makes be want to vommit

  • i dont like it

  • This Nazi brand scares me a little.

  • This car is just simply revolting.

  • I didn't know that jeremy used to own a beetle

  • I was very disapointed when the new Beetle came out. I was expecting something basic that was good quality and pratical, kind of in the spirit of the old car. Instead it was a complicated and poor attempt at being nostalgic.

  • girl car

  • id love to have one of these in grey with tinted windows

  • always disliked this marketing strategy deliberately using the nostalgia for good popular cars like beetle, mini or fiat 500 just to sell an overpriced revival for rich people trying to look different and cool

  • what i find funny is how jeremy slates the beete so much on topgear lol, but when you watch this, its a whole different story, dont get me wrong, i love jeremy haha, but his ways of making tv funny are sometimes stupid..

  • It was great, untill the Barbie bitches took the control of it.

  • 13 years later, girls car

  • 1:50 Hitler did it for teh lulz...

  • i love my blue beetle, but like all man im driving with out the vase

  • 4:20 hahahaha

  • i have the turbo S version and its pretty fast

  • vw beetle is design reedesign and made in mexico the new, and the old one, in fact is as good made as whatever country, and I can tell you every car manufactured in mexico is by far better made than british cars, I used to have an old MG and believe me it was horrible, i wonder why it broke up.... fucking JC racist 6:28..?? whats wrong with you fix you teeth first and let them speak later

  • I don't actually think new mini is people's car. it's all about style, it's too inpractical and too expensive... volkswagen, dacia, škoda and similar are true people's cars today.

  • I never thought Jeremy would say anything positive about the New Beetle. I'm sure he sold his pre-order New Beetle before the tyres were broken in....and still made a profit on his left hand drive car.

  • @xGRYFONx Check out some of the older seasons of the "new" top gear. They weren't they hard on the beetle and it was on the "cool" part of the cool wall. The this is, it hasn't changed, and the "new beetleness" has wore off. I hope and imagine the new new beetle will win them back. And according to reports, there will be an R version.

  • The Beetle was a stolen ripoff

  • no numberplates?

  • its a pos, its completely foiled by the snow, it looks like a womans car. and isnt anything more than a novelty status symbol.

  • 2.3 V5 version is pornoholic to drive

  • I am a full blodded male and I love my 2001 VW New Beetle GLX with a 1.8t turbo! It is original!!

  • 1:50 Did hitler really say that?

  • @tickle2012

no .. he says. "we want to be the only .. and without compromise .. only power in germany (he´s talking about his nazi party)

  • Sorry. I still say that I like the old Beetle better. This is a car that just looks more modern where the old Beetle has a little bit of a classical look.

  • @cloner8o Same here, the old beetles were built better, didn't have computers everywhere, were skinny, and could even tackle water!

  • "in mexico where the lineworkers are paid with chickens" XD WTF!?

man I´m mexican that was not funny... yeah it was funny lol

  • wats with hair LOL!! So it true he did hv hair funny analf he hasnt got much now.. and the Beetle is and aways b fanastic..

  • Cant believe the car is that old... It was cool when it came out and it still is......Well sort of

  • rubbish car!

  • No, no, no, the visibility is excellent in a NB. My only serious gripe with the car are two things - oil consumption and interior quality. The interior parts are too fragile, they are literally crumbling apart and whats with that rubbery stuff on the interior parts? Its now coming apart, peeling off with just a wipe... there is no aluminum, its painted and its fading...the levers breaking, the glue holding stuff against the doors coming off... love the ride but quality, ayayayyy, no bueno.

  • @wendileona quality test are made by german people, and all parts must pass their test, so the blame is to the poor quality test by german engineerings do. manufacturing and assambly are simple.

  • the new beetle is boring. you can't say that about the old one. well, you can, but you'd be wrong

  • I think this is a car for poofs and girls... a real man wants a GTi

  • 4:03 Don't worry , I won't smoke you xD

  • The original VW Beetle was designed by a chap named PORSCHE . You can ever see the lineage in the 356's ( if you know what to look for ) . I love the old Beetles. The Super Beetles were OUT standing .

  • @tasman763 yes it was but then it was rejected by hitler then he designed it him self then porsche put his design in production anyway and called it the 356

  • did he really buy the Beetle

  • i never thought that jeremy don't like the classic beetle...! it's one of the easiest cars to work on and if you do maintenance frequently, it'll pretty much NEVER brake down - also, the "superbeetle" 1303 S was designed just like a classic 911 (suspension, steering, axles, brakes) - well it was just like the 911 (or more the 912)'s little brother! i really don't know what's not to like about that...

  • @purpleGoAhead I had a '75 Standard Bug that kept breaking down until we fixed some fuel injection stuff that was left over from the previous owner, though it needed a lot of other stuff. It was a great show car though (just drive by a car show, everyone will look at ya).

  • -Get rid of the vase

-Change the styling to something less modern

-Put the engine in the back

    -Aircooled please

  • wtf what a hideous little piece.

  • such an ugly car (cage)

  • my father bought a second handed 61 beetleover 20 years ago, and it hasnt broken since then, its idle has gone too low few times and it didnt start well. and remember that the idea was from hitler but it was designed by ferdinand porsche.

  • He's pretty clueless about the original Beetle, still is. It's all just hyped up bias because they're all butthurt that Germany builds the better cars in the first place. The original beetle wasn't really that unreliable, but it was a piece of piss to service. There's something to be said about mechanical simplicity, and some of us like that. Plus they make great hot rods...

Don't care much for the new beetle though.

  • @Philx4xFar, clueless about what? You just sounded like an irritating patriot, to be honest. The original beetle was unstable and unreliable, yes, my dad had one when i was a small child. The car was supposed to be affordable to just about everyone but it surely wasn't a pot of gold.

Obviously you wouldn't really bother about the new bug since it wasn't built in the motherland Germany, would you? What a patriotic slave.

  • @Dragsteryourself - Patriotic about what? I'm Canadian. Germans make great cars, is all, and the Beetle is one of them, whether you think so or not. Your dads Beetle was unreliable probably because he was mechanically incompetent. It was unstable because it weighs nothing and has its engine in the back; some of us rather enjoy those characteristics. Besides which, Beetles are extremely easy to re-engineer, a fact obviously lost on you, but painfully obvious to people that *actually* like cars.

  • Its Ugly, Girly, the facelift modell with plastic wheelcaps looks even unpropotionized and I never ever wanted one.

    Its Gay!

  • Can they please make a beetle that PROPERLY represents what a beetle is? Both style and build?

  • Everyone wants one.... But me

  • I do hate it--disregard the looks, its junk from top to bottom, delicate, unreliable, hard to service, etc. Unless Volkswagens are better made in Europe than America, which may be true. But I can vouch, at gunpoint, that for the reputation, they do not live up to the history of the old Volks.

  • The ugliest car in the world ...EVER !

  • Song at 3:04 pleeaaaaseeee?

    I can't find it..

  • @rogerestunchien It's "I can see clearly now" From Jimmy Cliff I think

  • I Can See Clearly Now - Jimmy Cliff originally by johny nash

  • 12 years later and this car still looks modern

    incredible

  • @an50331 I agree mate......I forgot it was 12 years old!

  • @an50331 I agree mate......I forgot it was 12 years old!

  • @an50331 that's because retro image is rounded car and nowadays most of them are rounded

  • @an50331

Yup, Hitler hit the spot! People love his peoples car! ROFL

  • @an50331 still looks ugly too. lol

  • @an50331 And it's nicer then new New Beetle.

  • @an50331 don johnson from miami vice? where is the ferrari?

  • @an50331 I have one and I still get complements on it! It's a '99!

  • i laughed so hard at his sarcasm

  • the new beetle wasn't designed to be a peoples car it was designed to be a novelty like the new mini. Its BMW and Volkswagen competing

  • @damiannerd EXACTLY!!!

that's why it sucks in my book.

cant belive that 5th gear said that the new BMW mini handled like a go-kart...how can it, it's farking huge!!! ive driven both the old beetle and mini and both are epic cars, cant say the same for the new models though :(

  • @damiannerd actualy when you look deeper into it, they don't because mini is made with firm racy suspension and beetle is more adjusted to every day ocassions

  • @damiannerd Must be why theres so many issues with them according to carsurvey, that and bad dealership service.

  • @damiannerd Considering the beetle was before the mini, your statement couldn't be more wrong.

  • The Mini averagedid brake down more then the VW Beetle.

Those days, cars just weren't as good as they are today. ;-)

  • He hate old beetles, referes to it as collectivley Top gears least favorite car, he only likes this new one because it fits him, he refers to it later as wonderful it went out of production, if ever their was a ladies car, this is it

  • He just says that as a joke, to piss off Hammond most of the time.

    He loves the 911

  • If he likes this New Beetle, then why does he constantly cite most Porsches as being 'like Beetles', as if that were to be something negative?

  • another great upload thanx. I always thought clarkson hated the beetle.

  • He definetly doesn't like the old beetle. (I'm kind of with him there)

Not sure why he likes the new one.

btw: Top Gear had a Hitler speech with funny subtitles long before the internet meme came up :)
