  • @xbox360rules900 Sorry if I offended you. Keep training hard, endeaver to be the best martial artist you can be. Just make sure you have a great club and teacher. You don't want to waste valuable time learning ineffective techniques. All the best mate.

  • GKR+ KANCHO = CRAP Karate roughly translated means Shit Karate Club so( f u) if you defend a con man.

  • Sorry dude. I have a degree in Japanese and you can't do that to the Japanese language. Go is not a word in isolation, and neither is Kan. Try asking a Japanese speaker if you don't believe it. The kanji may be different but gokan when spoken means rape, rape and rape. Sorry.

  • @karasublue u have degree my ass i bit u cant ever get a yellow belt hahaha

  • Gokan means rape in Japanese. My Japanese friends think it's shocking,"the way of the rape," Gokanryu? I think I'll stick to traditional Karate. I think the founder should study his Japanese harder or at least have consulted a Japanese person. Moron.

  • @karasublue Go Kan not gokan. kinda like there and their. stuff gets lost in translation don't get hung up on a name

  • the first strike is the being of the fight so why stop karate is a great disapline but thats about it great for show in in a real fight i dont know rather go down the path of boxing mauy thai ju jitsu sambo etc for the street

  • GKR FOR GIRLS AND GAYS COME ON U KNOW ITS A JOKE FROM THE AUSSES LOAD OF CRAP ';' NOT REAL M ART;;'####;;;;'###

  • Also GKR in some respect is pretty good scam or not, if it wasn't for an istructor knocking door to door I would not have found an interest in martial arts again. Also it is good if you want to use it as a stepping stone but as far as real styles go.... If its not recognised by the English Karate Federation, British Karate Federation or World Karate Federation, and you do not need a licence to train and is non contact then I would avoid if you want to do a real style.

  • GKR was in somewhat ways good but.... I changed style and I am happy I did. I now do Ishinryu which is a hell a lot more complex than GKR. First and 2nd kata are similar but after that it gets more complex. I tried Saifa Ishinryu style and damn it is so much harder and I finished off green belt in GKR. If you sensei says ''Saifa is normally a black belt kata in some styles'' tell them of course because they do it properly!

  • if you want to watch real sparing type in

"Taekwon-Do ITF - Competition Sparring Highlights"

GKR is pryamid selling which is illegal

they have poor techniques ands its absoulte rubbish i know this because i went for the self defence consultant job untill they explained to me its pryamid selling

  • @BILLYTHEKID250 idiot i have done taekwondo, along with others, there are karate dojos much better than this gkr shit, its a scam karate

go watch "Wado Ryu Tournament - Sparring"

i fount a vid with white and yellow belts loadz better then your so called black belts

the founder of gkr only got to 2nd then pemoted himself to 8th, its a joke money making scam

  • @86tunst this may be 6 mouth reply. you are rigth mate not only that when you want get to your red or brown belt or you have to go up to the Senior class swich is on midweek and on 7pm at nigth swich is stuip it ok for sum ppl that can get there or live closs to the senior class not ok for ppl like me who live far way from the senior class y sum left . i used do itf taekwondo when going to senior class there used be on weekends on 2pm to 4.30pm swich was realy good time and ever one could go

  • GKR are money grabbers, i know this because i worked as a sdc. They bully you into getting more "clients". I've trained with other clubs in the past and they get plenty of students just by advertising and word of mouth.

I cannot understand the whole meaning to "world cup" because you're not fighting against other clubs, instead your fighting against other regions of GKR. So fighting against people you poss know in the same club, is very much a joke. Grow balls, & fight other clubs......Pathetic!

  • @kel2111 Thats why they call it the "GKR World Cup", for those that want to participate against those from the other side of the world.

Also, GKR in Australia participate and do well in the National All Styles tournament as well as other world tournaments.

As for money hungry? Depends on who is running the region. You possibly got stuck in a shitty one. :/

  • iv been with them for almost two years. iv not seen any of the undergrades as you say, (5th kyus) teaching but maybe thats another area, i was lucky to get a real black belt who knows what hes doing and keeps the kids disciplined :)

  • I've got a job interview with these guys on thursday.

  • I've trained with GKR for the last year or so. The instructors have all been at least 1st dan & have always had contact sparring, unless I'm against women (they can contact), so I'm a bit confused by some of the comments. I'm told have respect for all arts & styles; This I do. Bad mouthing generally means bad training or jealousy. Does an "ex" train with GKR? It would explain the bitterness.

  • Nice Vid :)

  • A boxer would knock any of this lot into a cocked hat

  • @1233372 A boxer would also knock his own head into a wall

  • Just started working for GKR as a self-defense consultant. I love it!

  • My husband and I once attended one of these GKR classes. They had approached him because of his experience in martial arts, and wanted him to sign on to their course as a possible instructor and were willing to train him in their style. He was leery about them because of their tournament based style. To make a long story short he was injured by this dojos inadequate safety measures during warm up and suffered from a torn shoulder tendon. He recovered and turned them down. their style is flawed.

  • I had a bad car accident that left me literally paralized for 2+ years .... i started GKR many many years ago now . At that time it helped me to control my severe pain from having 2 crushed disks in my spine. It helped me strengthen my back and now i can move much more freely. I have much to thank GKR mind you this was about 9 or 10 years ago now so i dont know if things have changed. I wish GKR all the best and Thanks GKR :)

  • i whent there and came back with a braonze

  • iv been doing GKR 7 years now and am an instructor. yes it is about the buisness but there some things tht is teaches i think its more beneficial for kids than adults due to discipline and tht.

The fact tht it is no contact means tht body condtioning is very rare in GKR which is a major disadvantage in my opinion.

  • @SkyN1nja im also a GKR instructor and i agree, i think that we should introdue limited contact for 3rd kyu+ as long as their old enough obvisously

  • i'm 1ST DAN GKR AND THINK GIVING INSTRUCTOR BELTS OUT TO JUNIOR GRADES IS A JOKE.. MAKES GKR SEEM CRAP. FUTHERMORE, MOST SO CALLED INSTRUCTORS JUST USE IT AS A BLOODY SHORTCUT CUS THEY CANT WAIT TO GET THEIR BLACK BELTS, AND HIDE BEHIND A BLACK AND WHITE ONE. THEY COME INTO CASS PRETENDING THY ARE SOME KIND OF MARTIAL ARTS EXPERT, PROBABLY WITH ABOUT 1 YRS EXPERIENCE TRYING TO CORRECT HIGHER GRADES .. WHAT A JOKE.

  • @pigboy10 yeah i can agree with that, i know some green belts that are now black and whites! i just dont agree with it, prob end up passing bad habbits down the ranks, i think that instructors should be brown belt minimum

  • @fwiths9 Yeah definately, there are acceptions, say if they have their black in another style, but i do hate to see 6th + 5th kyus teaching, like you say, bad habbits are being passed through the grades that we higher ones have to fix when they get higher, and we shouldn't need to

  • @fwiths9 I do GKR, and i totally agree with u

  • @pigboy10 true i been with GKR karate for 3 years i also did rheetaekwondo in 4 years ago in taekwondo there used let green belts or blue belt teach take over when the inst goes away or sick till he gets back or better that in rheetaekwondo. i think gave black and white belt to a yellow belt or greed belt das not look good i think there be blue belts or red belts better then them but on that black n white is not even a realy black belt it not even a gkr karate rank im a brown bely my self

  • Shihan's karungfa is a beast of a kata demostration of power and technique. hes pretty awesome!

  • As with everything, there's good instructors and there's bad instructors. I wsa lucky and got a good one. One thing the club has got going for it is that it's family oriented - that is that the whole family can get together at whatever age and have a new experience. I agree with the business side of things, it's not the best, it's too much about the money. On a different note, there's no denying that the kick at 1:20 was a gem!

  • @ickleoli Yeah I agree with that.... as I said it is ok to use the style as a stepping stone to do real Karate, but if you want to do a real style an up your game an work harder then go for a new style.

Just make sure it is not a MCDojo!

  • i think people need to look up the word "Business" - 'system in which goods and/or services are exchanged for one another for money' so that means that would put 100% of other dojo's and styles into that catagory. as for some of the instructors...yea ok some are pretty bad, but most are good and some a very very good and the people them selfs in GKR are good people, and i can bet that not one other instructor from any other style can say they havent seen a student that was hopeless..

  • no joke one of the works just came to my door and told me all about it and ts 49 pound for a lift time lol dat pritty good im joining it in jan i dont think it dat bad

  • @dannywc95 really? i was told it was 49 as well

  • I worked as sdc for GKR for 2 days last year here in the UK and decided that it wasnt for me. You work all hours of the day and night including wkends for very little. The simple fact of having to knock door to door to get students (more like begging) and when they do get their foot in the door, the poor family is basically bullied into joining there and there for a fee of £25 (£22 goes in the sdc pocket). I'm now looking to train in a real club lol. 1 word for GKR and thats JOKE!

  • they do the same hhere in australia. they are a very weak club that is all about business

  • is that why you only lasted two days! i have worked for gkr and its hard but you get out what you put in! there are lots of very good instructors in gkr and some very bad ones! how can a weak club win so many tournaments? people dont like that they have made a business out of martial arts! iv done many years doing many different styles and all are different ! People should be more open minded and look at all the good they have done for many people especially kids!

  • @themedicenewoman look your right but this is a copied style so this is not a real style is like saying panasonic making to vansonic you know

  • @themedicenewoman i second this comment, you do get out what you put into gkr or any martial art for that matter and this whole bull shit that evertyone keeps jabbering about instructors being orange belts well i have never been instructed by anyone less than a 1st dan and most of the time i have multiple black belts teach me at my gkr classes

  • I trained with GKR for a bit over a year back in the mid 1990's in Sydney Australia when I was around 15 years old. I got to blue belt and kind of lost interest as by this time I was higher graded then most of the so called instructors. I was very fit and switched over to straight weight training. I was always suspect about the whole system of promoting relatively untrained practitioners to instructor and the ambigious use of a black belt with a white stripe I believe cheapens a honoured title.

  • It seems little has changed!

  • If you are thinking of joining cause someone has knocked on your door think again look into it some more and read the 1000's of comments online, or if you have been offered a job as a sdc it will always seem to be too good to be true and it is if you google self defence consultant and read some of the forums about people who have been there then your see. its fast food karate aka mc dojo

  • This club has the worst reputation of any martial arts in the world so much so that the the only way it can get new members is by door knocking and feeding its SDC consultants with hope of going somewhere within gkr. its all money the worst case of a pyramid scheme out there. the karate is taught by not black belts or anywhere nere black they have the black and white belt to show they are a sensei 90% of instructors are orange - red belt and have this belt so people respect them its a joke!

  • ahh but it is getting worse... i know of some people who say they are instructors and have just graded to their yellow belts. How many months of training is that ... 4 ?

    utter joke

  • 90 % of instructors are not orange to red! you wanna check your facts! i know a few of the instructors and they are great! bad reps are heard more than good ones! i am not saying they are all great and i know that there are some bad instructors but gkr as a whole has done good for many!

  • Comment removed

  • what i mean by worse then punches it tones better

  • try jujtisu tones worse then punches

  • Boxing is more instinctive. Im sure you would be willing to test out your newly founded skill with a real knife in a real life situation? Your a joke!

  • Why do people slag off GKR for knocking on peoples doors? They have to promote the club somehow even if it is big. Last week I had someone from a completly different Karate club knocking on my door, they are not the only ones who promote their club the way they do. GKR is also good depending on the sensei, and because of how big it is of course their will be problems. Ok it is non contact but I actually work and cant afford to have a broken leg or arm.

  • gkr is awesome but u just have to find a good region like in Melbourne region 5 is the best but wat eva u do don't go to region 7 suked

  • mcdonalds karate.

unless you want to waste your time really dont go bother with this karate, i wasted 3 years training in the gokanryu discipline.

    if you want;

    fitness=go for a run

selfdefense=boxing (to really benefit from a kungfu or karate you have to master the techniques over years of training)

    watse money=starcity

  • All you karate wankers fighting over your styles are fucking hilarious. All karate is soft cock shit. All karate is faggott posing. GKR at least make money I guess. But if you want the real deal try Savate bitches.

  • im not fighting over styles douche bag, clearly i stated not to take on a karate or kungfu and to resort to boxing a completely western martial art form.

btw not sure if you know, savate is fucking boxing with a few kicks thrown in.

and i bet you any money, if you did have a completely trained karate or kung fu artist, they would fucking pwn someone trained in the discipline of savate.

    you better fucking write back

  • Whats the matter soft cock, you slap the gkr karate which you failed at and pump up boxing which is pussy slap fighting with rules overload. Then you try and shit on the mighty Savate as being boxing with a few kicks...LMAO. Maybe you should try tai chi...or better still a cup of tea.

  • i dropped gkr cos it got fucking boring.

boxing a pussy slap fight with too many rules? i guess the rules

    1. use fists to strike

    2. no hits below the belt

is too hard to follow for a dumbarse like you, not surprising really considering your calling me a softcock, when you dont even know the reason savate exists is cos bitchy frenchman didnt like getting close to people (the english) when they fought, so they started to kick, cos they would get the shit beat out of em by real fighters, boxers...

  • WTF self-defense= boxing hahaha u don't know what u are talking about what are you gona do when sum1 stab you with a knife as a boxer? And you don't have to master the arts self defense tactics are pretty simple i have trained KDS karate for 1/2 years and i know few gun/knife disarms and know how to use them.

  • exactly here i wasted 9 years of there diciplin:(

  • someone knocked on my door tonyt askin if i wanted to join lol

  • ha ha ha! GKR karate wankers!.............sweep the leg! lol

  • dude gkr is good but they should learn how to do gradings right like if someone fails there grading that is just because of one class y dont they consentrate on the other classes they have done then consentating on one classes thts all i hate about gkr karate but at the end they good but far to many people thats y i quiet after 9 years and i went to a different club no w i am 1st dan and i am happy but as i said i am not having a go but they are stillgood but they need to work on things thats al

  • this is balls...pure balls

  • rhis guys are fuckin awesome even the ninja turtles would be jealous of the mad skills

  • just started gkr...... cant wait till i really get into it!!!!!

  • do urself a favor and leave before you do

  • Read what wiki has to say aout GKR before you pure your heart and sole. I trained with them for ages,,i wa lucky and had a good intructor, with plenty of experiece. But the majority of instructors are not black belt...or even close toblack belt. It's good if you want to get good at kata and point non-contact sparring. But not recommended if you want to learn how to fight or defend yourself

  • This advert is abysmally pretentious. Nothing but image, and if you noticed, it's all GKR and noone else.

  • Um... that would be because it's the GKR World Cup.

  • people who criticize are only jealous of what they hav'nt got. gkr is one of the largest karate clubs in the world, if they are crap as you say, how come they are successful as they are. top clubs get media attention in football, it just goes to show that gkr affected you because you watched the video

  • McDonalds serves the population of Spain in terms of number every day, they are not successful but on their own terms since they only compete in tournaments that are either GKR exclusive or where they make up a decisive majority.

We aren't jealous of you, we dislike your style because it gives a bad image to what we love. It's pyramidical practice makes it absorb whatever raw material it can, and then uses it to expand on the basis of profit maximisation.

  • Kyukushin is abut 10 times bigger than GKR. I practiced and taught GKR for years..i was invited to all sorts of events and trained with GKR's best, and i never paid the class fee as i was an instructor. Don't start with me, this style has a world of problems, it's not all bad..some very sharp students in there...but believe me, it's no kyukushin. It's far from the best karate has to offer.

  • The mental development side of things just wasn't there at all, I have seen primary schooler's act like more of an adult than some of the instructors. My advice, get out why you can, you don't know what your missing out on. This is the mcdonald's of martial arts, there are many fantastic organizations out there that better deserve your time and money.

  • I've studied in various different martial arts, gkr karate is by far the most amateurish and badly run organization I have ever seen. Instructors didn't even turn up to classes half the time, in which I'd be all ready to go and just wind up having to go home. Not only that, but everyone that taught me the techniques had a completely different way of doing things. So I'd constantly be corrected for things I had been told to do by someone else.

  • Damn, i cant go to the world cup this year because im going to turkey instead-apparently:(

  • isn't it a bit silly to practise Kanku-Dai on some slippery rocks at a beach? ^^

Looks good, pity I won't be going. I'll be there in Birmingham in 2011, though.

Looked like a strong Kururunfa there at 2:05

  • 2:00, even ^^

  • They only want a hobby not a martial art lol

  • i think alot of people who bag gkr dont fully understand the way we spar, we do point sparring (or kumite) it is about being the first person to get a clean punch or kick in, no matter how ineffective it may hav been had it actually connected. i think comparing a mma style fighter to a gkr or any martial artist who does point sparring is kinda stupid because they are two totally different ways of fighting

  • bunch of fools pretending they can fight. Any mma practitioner would embaress these bunch of fakes!

  • Put those kata's to the test against a world champion muay thai fighter plz..

  • i hope uses hold a world cup here i brisbane one year and im realy injoging gkrkarate.

if gkr is a scam there would not be any one doing it if u think that a scam try rheetaekwondo

  • in 2009, Australia hosts the GKR World Cup, so you'll have a chance then :)

In a couple of years, I'm gonna go to the World Cup in Birmingham (why there?!) so that I can compete.

  • Yes your right it's non contact but you wouldn't think so if you'd seen my last fight i couln't work for two days i got battered. But i love GKR and i know everybody has there own conclutions to GKR but all i suggest is try it before slagging the style you'll be surprised and yes they knock on doors so what postmen do and gas men GKR has it's own ways of telling the public that's why they have so many students and is becoming the biggest style there is I love it and wouldn't do any other style.

  • yeah but here's the most important thing out of it all... u kno u luv it.. i've started with gkr in the last month and it's good times, martial arts has always been sumthing i love just my only problem is that i love contact coz i'd normally be playing rugby but hey, what else can i do?

  • i dont blame u for thinking that way i thought that too ... if my masters found out the stuff isaid about gkr i probably wud be kciked ou t ... its non contact on the web it isnt in real life u see many paretns dont send kids to martial arts in fear of getting them hurt in trsainnig.... my rentx dont give a crap i was very dismayed but i had many friends there and they explained to me so i tried it and now im into it..so get i tinto ur head different arts r suited for different needs.

  • GKR is a scam they advertise on jobcentre like a mofo...GKR is just door to door salesmen sellin karate lessons...real fighters do mma

  • thats not how i joined GKR. i saw an advert on TV so their not advertisment scams who go from door to door thank you

  • They came to my door.

  • hahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahaha....a guy from my work used to go door knocking for them

  • yeah thats part of being a sensei for them......

  • Lol GKR is like mostly non contact, so gay

  • how is gkr gay ur dad is gay

  • every style is different, and each is designed for different prefernces of fight. so before you start making your own conclusions, at least try training in the style, you dumb bastard.

  • this is pussy coz i cant tell if theyre making contact or not ..

  • tjeir not making cobtact their not ment to be. Your not men to hit peolpe you should be controlled with your punches or kicks

  • once again another super video wheres my gi i need to train thanks GKR love it

  • Am doing GKR myself did shokokai for nine years and only got as far as brown belt due to work but love GKR and am really in to it if anybody is thinking of joining do its brilliant my son loves it

  • hi is this anythony from the sunshine coast???

  • Ive studied 4 other types of MA, all have there good points and bad but for those who bag GKR, get a life you probally havent tryed it, since joining GKR region 26 its been the best yet, my kids aged 8 and 11 also train and i wouldnt have them doing any other from of MA, GKR is great for the family karate style, for those who do GKR and complain about there training go to a diff dojo( solve the problem dont winge about it). GO REGION 26

  • hi im a new member for gkr karate you know the bage what side das it goes

  • Left side of the Gi.

  • i train with gkr in region 2 and i can say its the best thing i've ever done. even the occasional accidental smack in the nose is worth the rush u get from training!! kancho sullivan ur a star!!

  • the way you train wont get u anywhere u only teaching yourself to hesitate in a real situation. the only way to train is to punch properly and if you dose of your partner will hit you, if you dont block rite that punch will come flying at you. they say your learning control but thats utter bullpee btw i used to go gkr

  • I was offered a job as a GKR instructor also known as a door to door salesman.I seen this video at the interview and was not impressed. This type of karate is not very fluid, very heavy footed.I don t mean to offend anyone but look at TAGB sparring and see the difference and you will see why i stuck to tae kwon do

  • i used to go to gkr and alls i can tell u is that gkr is a money grabbing scheme... thats not to say karate is crap or anything but alls im saying is that gkr is crap... i moved onto to do silat and bjj being taught traditionally in small groups the way how its sposed to be done. rough but worth it :D

  • your right mate it is and i also am doing bjj.

  • your welcome :D

  • Very well put together clip, i really enjoyed watching that. Cheers Jim

  • just started gkr the third marthle art i have done along with jujitsu boxing and tae kwon do

  • what tape of taekwondo you did mate ???

  • Master Sullivan's Kata..the best I have ever seen!

Then again, I also believe in fairies!!

  • song is called "the karate" haha i don't even do karate and i know all this stuff! my best friend is a black belt in GKR and came 4th at the World Cup in England!!

  • you sure its called the karate? i cant find any song with that name. your friend came 4th??? in the open or in the junior blackbelts division? or colts?

  • both the intro song (on the beach) and the action clip song (how ya like that) are peices of library music. So you cant buy them anywhere.

  • iv heard the how ya like that 1 on a rugby show aswell... ive been trying to get it for ages. any chance you have it? or is it downloadable?

  • No. You cant buy or download library music.

Its shown up on a few commercials here in oz also.

    cheers

    anthony
