@XitemeM Actually, they don't eat as much as you expect. They are AMAZING dogs, as they are willing to do whatever you're up for. You want to play? They'll play. You want to sleep? They'll snuggle up next to you. In fact, if a Great Dane is left alone outside for too long (like, to live outside), they will actually die of loneliness!

my school was next to a house with a huge great dane. he enjoyed all the attention the chldren gave him after school. the minute he heard the school bell ring, he'd run to the fence separating our school and thier garden and he'd wag his tail no end. the little children used to play with him until their school bus arrived. what a lovely dog. !

i prefer the natural ears as well, but there's actually a reason to crop them. when they shake their heads, their ears could hit eachother or the head so violently that it can cause blood vessels to rupture, which could cause serious problems. that's what i've been told at least. i have a 3 year old harlequin male, and his ears have never been cropped, and i haven't had any problems, however. we juss had a litter of puppies today. im keeping a merlequin female, n dont intend to crop her's either

@xxacriddxx i have a brindle dane and we did a lot of research about cropping the ears. we found that a lot of the pups that have their ears cropped actually die from the surgery. i think the anestetics are too much for them. so we didnt crop our danes ears and dont plan on cropping any in the future. also, you have to find a good vet who can do it right. there are a lot of danes who have ears that look awful!

Awww! I have a dane :3 his name is bear! Hes mostly black but the tips of his paws and his chest are white. He also has a white beard! Hes 4 year old this year :] I love him so much, he thinks hes a lap dog and he loves to cuddle!

they don´t get very old I´ve heard, since they have been breed so fast that their heart could keep up in size... :( how sad

They have the same size heart as smaller breeds.

Our Dane back in the 80's lived to 11 when the average was about 7 years. These days the average is closer to 10 years. A lot are living until 11 or 12 these days which is pretty long for such a giant dog.

My boy Rex was a blue dane, died at 9 and a half years. Majestic breed of dog, completely rip your heart out when they are ill or poorly.

i had a great dane for 9 years(got him when i was 5).his name was boone. like danielle boone. we went away on vacation for a week and when we came back he had cancer and we had to put him down, the saddest day of my life :( this happened a couple of years ago btw. then a couple of years ago my parents surprised me and my siblings with a 4-month old fawn colored great dane puppy named adalius like the patriots football player. yes i am a pats fan have been all my life. he was born on christmas.

why would there be white: both parents of the pups are blue, unless you mistaked the blue coat for merle, in that case there probably would be quite a few whites. plz corect me if im wrong. tyvm

i think that Rifftiff means that the mother has a show blue color (no white marks).
