I picked it up on eBay about 5 years ago for $400. Now they seem to be about $1k. Best to get in on a group purchase on the fusor group for a BTI bubble detector. Those are about $200. Or you could make your own.
do tell, where do you get all of your supplies! i cant even get my hands on a 5kV powersupply without spending $500!

It was one of many being sold form a decomissioning project back east. I guess they were inventoried that way.
