  • hey repairs universe i have a blackberry curve 8520 i put a new track pad in and a new LCD but the trackpad still doesnt work, can i send it in for a diagnostic?

  • @joshfig96 I am sorry, but our techs are currently unable to accept repairs/diagnosis on that model. I would suggest taking it to a local repair shop for a diagnosis.

  • @RepairsUniverse oh man :/

  • is it possible to do it with 9360?

  • @MrBloempotje Yes, it will be a very similar process.

  • thnxs 4 tht it has helped !

  • @heinrichpoorer Awesome! Great work!

  • This video saved me from having to buy a new phone!!! I took mine apart and my little track pad chip was completly disconnected. Shoved it back on and BAM.....Works like a champ.

  • @Strong230 Great work! Sometimes that is all it takes.

  • hi help me on my blackberry the screw is sheared of what to i do xx

  • @kazzamck You will either need to use a screw extractor to remove the screw, or use a small drill bit to drill out the screw and remove. These are your two easiest options.

  • @RepairsUniverse hey, i found this helped but one problem, i have a blackberry curve 9520. my trackpad wont move in any direction. it clicks but doesnt move. i was wondering, can you take the trackpad out on a 9520?

  • My trackpad wasn't working only clicking. I replaced it with a new one and still doesn't work. Any help please?

  • @SuperWebster07 Normally this is caused by a bad connection on the trackpad flex cable. I would suggest checking this connection again and being sure it is fully in place.

  • i have replaced the trackpad but it still doesn't work

  • @96blakstar First thing to check would be the connection of the trackpad flex cable. Many times these become loose and will cause this issue.

  • @RepairsUniverse how do i do that flex cable thing iv brought a new track pad but dont work

  • @lewis1265 Just be sure the flex cable on the trackpad is connecting fully, as shown at about 1:15 in the video.

Does your device have any history, such as past repairs, water damage, etc?

  • My blackberry keypad dont work and trackpad either i beg you help me coz i cnt unlock it

  • @b18boii Any damage to the device, besides the faulty parts? May be worth disassembling and trying to diagnose the cause of the issue. Replacement trackpads are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com, if it appears to be faulty.

  • my blackberry curve 8520 is stuck on a battery with red cross on top. Please can someone help!!! :(

  • @bobby123carrot Has the battery been changed or swapped with an aftermarket battery? Many times this is caused by a battery not unlocked for that specific Blackberry model.

  • @RepairsUniverse my trackpad is not working when i click it?it works when i scroll i but it does nothing when i press it?also my keppad does not work?! please help me

    wb asap!x

  • @SAVVYISMYNAME I would suggest following this guide to check the trackpad. May be something obstructing the flex cable from "clicking". If it seems ok, I would then replace the trackpad. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. For the keypad buttons, do they press down and "click"?

  • does anyone know how to remove EN bar ? its really buggin me lool . thanks =)

  • @RepairsUniverse im not sure but it covers the whloe screw and its in a circle shape? an where would you get the screw driver from?:)

  • @Cococlaire10 You should be able to pry this off or scrape it off. Repair tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • very useful

  • @elektraaaaa Thank you, glad it helped!

  • Does the curve trackpad kit in the bold?

  • @dirksmat No, the Bold and Curve trackpads are not cross compatible.

  • wow

  • whats that blue tool called? thanks

  • @goonerboi95 These are called "safe open pry tools". These and many other variations of pry tools can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • What kind of screwdriver do you need for this?

  • @KiidHypz You will need at Torx T-6 screwdriver. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @KiidHypz You will need at Torx T-6 screwdriver. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Is there any way this can damage the phone ?

  • @jessicavallance1 Follow the video carefully and there is very little risk of damage. This is one of the most simple repairs on a smartphone. Just take it slow and there shouldn't be any issues.

  • it still don't work! what do i do?!

  • @babbiiangell Check the connection itself, be sure there are no issues from the trackpad to the motherboard.

  • @RepairsUniverse what do you mean check the connection?

  • @babbiiangell Where the cable connects. The pop connection.

  • @RepairsUniverse yeah it's all on properly but it won't let me sroll on to anything:/

  • @RepairsUniverse yeah it's all connected but i can't scroll on to anything:/

  • @babbiiangell You did the basics then, it will take more in-depth diagnosis to determine the cause. Could be many things, but usually something like this is caused by an issue with the motherboard.

  • @RepairsUniverse yeah it is but it still don't work,it won't let me scroll on anything

  • My trackpad on my blackberry curve 9300 isnt letting me move , meaning i cant look at messages because i cant scroll across to them but i want to know how to fix it without taking it apart any ideas on how to do that ?

  • @pippanpoppycat Likely you will have to take it apart to resolve the issue. You will either need to check the connection and make sure it is fully in place, or replace the trackpad.

  • Thank you so so much my phone is working completely fine the trackpad was minging no wonder it didnt work and then i logged onto here and seen this vidoe i was amazed thank you 10/10 for this video:D

  • @Connorminaj No problem, glad you found the video useful!

  • My trackpad is push in too how to I push it out?! I hate how it feels very pushed in!!!! Help please.

  • @andrew9319 Is it the trackpad itself which is pushed in, or is it pushed into the phone? You can remove it using this video and check for damage. Replacing it will resolve issues with your current trackpad. These can be found at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • thak you so so so much !!!!!!!!

  • @milhouseurrr No problem! Glad the video helped!

  • @RepairsUniverse Because my trackpad moved and it was a big problem :s

  • hi i like threw my phone on the floor and now the track pad dont work.. everything else dpes apart from the trackpad should i take it apart and reconnect it or will that make shit wprse?

  • @YGLTCKband You should be able to check the connection and reconnect it without any problems. If it still fails to work, replacing it may be the best option. You can find replacement trackpads at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Hello, my trackpad is not placed very well i guess. It is not that tight in my phone. I also moves when i have my finger on it. Can i fix that? plus, do i lose warranty if i do this? Because there is a blue little sticker on the screw,

  • @damien036 You can attempt to remove the stick from the screw and try tightening up the screws and making sure the trackpad is fitted correctly. Could be a easy fix but no way to know until you've tried. Good luck!

  • @RepairsUniverse Thanks for the fast anwser! I will try this very soon. But, will i lose my warranty? Because my phone is like 5 days. Thanks again and have a nice evening/day.

  • @damien036 Unsure about your warranty. Contact your provider if you are concerned, although most are pretty strict.

  • @RepairsUniverse Ok thank you. What is that blue thing you got there? Goodbye.

  • @damien036 That is a safe open pry tool, available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com. Nearly all parts come with a free one to help with disassembly.

  • am i the only one who cant get thier sim card back in?

  • @ReekzTMD The metal piece that holds the trackpad down that you screw down may not be put in quite right, then it prevents the card from sliding in. Make sure you click it in properly, there should be no gap and it shouldn't be bent either... hope this helps

  • thanks, I didn't think it was this easy, lol

  • @synapse349 No problem! Thankfully most parts on the 8520 / 8530 are fairly quick and easy to replace!

  • @RepairsUniverse Yes, replacement was quick and easy. Even without the proper screwdriver! I gently used a size 0 flat driver to loosen the torx screw. The main housing screws are in too tight for this, so I hope I never have to open those or I will have to get the torx set...

Unfortunately, I must report that the replacement has not fixed my issue. My trackpad still doesn't work sporadically. Could there be another problem? God forbid the motherboard?

  • @synapse349 If all other connections are good, it certainly could be an issue with the mainboard. Most issues with trackpads are resolved with a replacement. May be worth double checking and making sure connections are secure and clean. Good luck!

  • @RepairsUniverse Yeah, it's a little weird, because the issue is intermittent. Connectors are clean, everything looks perfect. For the time being I suppose I'll suck it up and deal with it until I upgrade to the new 9300 model next year. Thanks again

  • @synapse349 Most likely your best option if it is only intermittent. No problem. Good luck!

  • @RepairsUniverse Yeah, it's intermittent, but appears more frequently in hot conditions such as in the car. Expansion/contraction isn't often a problem for circuits and connectors, is it? I have little data on this...

  • @synapse349 Seems quite odd. Heat rarely causes issues like yours seems to have. If it has already been replaced, you may want to take it to a local repair shop and see if they see any issues quickly? Keep us updated if you find any info, you have us curious now! Sorry we cant provide much more info without the phone in-front of us.

  • @RepairsUniverse yes, indeed, mainly because the unit is rather new and otherwise totally functional. makes me wish there was another way to move the highlight in a menu.

  • i cleaned it but still only the click buton works i cant move left righ up or down , plz help

  • @8888CoolM8888 May be a faulty trackpad. It is quite common on this Blackberry model. You can find replacement trackpads here at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • Thanks alot man it made good as new or even BETTER :) and the Girlfriend is happy

  • @kinstar Great to hear. Glad we could help!

  • i dont have the right screw to take the screw out, can i use something else?

  • @kkss2008ja i used sicors

  • @8888CoolM8888 how did u use sicors? i cant get the screw out, help would be appriciated.

  • @ummzareen i used a pointy scissors , the top is kinda like a screwdriver kinda squarish

  • I assuming that the track pad on this phone is infamous for malfunctioning. Track pads

  • @MrPinesoul Yes, they tend to be one of the things that go wrong on this model.

  • my trackpad doesnt work sometimes but then will randomly start working again and will ony work for a little while

  • Perfect! Replaced a faulty trackpad in no time, all thanks to you!!

  • @raids13 No problem. Glad we could help.

  • my trackpad works fine but at times it randomly scrolls up when im trying to go down or do other things? what can i do?

  • @25000205 Sounds like the trackpad is damaged and needs replacing. You can find the replacements at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @RepairsUniverse Plz do you know where i can get the trackpad? i live in morocco, is there any way i can buy it online or anything? They have a Virgin megastore here, do you think they sell it?

  • @lynnbooboo1993 Sorry, i'm not sure where you can get them over there. I doubt Virgin would stock them.

  • thank you for your help working great now :D

  • @slaggylindsey Great stuff. Glad to hear we could help with your repair.

  • my 8520 has got in the rain,

  • A t8 is the smallest i have so i'm off to the hardware store. Hopefully this will fix my trackpad issue.

  • Hello,

I just came across your video and found it very interesting. I'm wondering if you can help me, I've been having some problems with my BB 8520, the Trackpad has frozen and doesnt move, i can select but i cant scroll.

I have reloaded the os, but it didnt help, does this mean i need a new trackpad?

What is the cause of this problem?

  • @a2dhawan Yes, sounds like you have a trackpad issue. A new one should resolve this.

We have the replacement trackpads at RepairsUniverse (dot) com

  • @a2dhawan I have the SAME problem and its driving me crazy, have you found a way to fix it?

  • @a2dhawan my trackpad would only select and wouldnt scroll...i just took it out and put it back in and it worked perfectly

  • i dis that but my trackpad dosnt work ???

  • @Furimmer08 thats why people phones mess up because they try and do stuff thierself i wud jus take my phonee to a store

  • @Toxic312456

If your phone is out of warranty, and broke, why not fiddle with it? and then bring it to the store to pay up the ass to get it fixed.

  • @Toxic312456 as long as your not retarded it works fine

  • are all the parts the same on the 8530 as in the 8520? Same exact parts? So a white housing from an 8520 would fit exact on an 8530? It seems the new curves are very easy to disassemble. Thanks!
