@SBACTY99 It was called disautonomia....a really rare disease that can be found in horses, dogs, rabbit, and more. Its a weird nervous system disorder triggered by some pretty normal bacteria, they don't really know why some animals react to it like this. Most vets have never seen it in their careers.

@Bongwater123 I'm so sorry for your loss. I have 3 cats and I hope they live to be at least 20 before they die. Generally kidney failure at that age has to do with diet. So many cat owners dont know that a lifetime of cheap dry food will have that result when the cat reaches 12 or so. All cats should be eating canned food, and if you can afford it, high quality food without meat by-products. I buy Holistic Select, it has added vitamins and minerals.

@AngelDarkMusic She was an SBT bengal, which for those new to bengal breeding essentially means 5 generations or more removed from the ALC/wild cat. As much as I wouldn't mind an early generation bengal like an F1 or F2, they can be a handful and it would be better if I had more space, less cats, and an outdoor enclosure to boot before I attempt that.

@MIA7Xthies Most of the time folks web search for breeders. Please do not shop at a pet shop. You want a breeder with great socialization, health history, and good balanced parents. You cannot check these things out from a petstore. Be prepared to find a breeder where you might have to ship a cat in though.

We also live in rural Canada (near Kingston), and there are plenty of farms and shelters with wonderful pets nearby, but if you're looking for a special breed as we were (wanting Maine Coons), simply locate a reputable breeder online (registered with a cat fancier's association). Our cats were shipped to Kingston for about $150.

@JustinHEMI05 I would say my two bengals shed much less then my other two cats, but they do still shed. They don't seem to have as much undercoat as compared to my mix cats. Using a furminator brush on my bengals almost does nothing, where as I get tons of hair off the others.

I should probably go to a breeder and hang out for a few hours to see how I react first. Thanks again!

@JustinHEMI05 Yup, I would recommend sitting at the breeder you choose. Since they are technically a mix of sorts, their haircoat can differ slightly from cat to cat, all 3 of mine have been different. Check into diet as well, all of my cats have shed less and had healthier coats on raw food versus kibble.

@JustinHEMI05 If you want almost no shedding get Oriential Short Hair they shed even less then the hairless which does shed its peach fuzz. My Oriential Leia only sheds if she is nervous like when on vet trip :) even then though its much less then my last cat.
