OMG Capoeira is a dance. But its also a martial art. I hate all ppl saying "ouhh its a dance" and others "ouhh its not a dance"... people its everything!
Excellent demonstration, unfortunate that most people think capoeira originated in brazil, it was actually first seen in Tanzanian tribes, whoever it's style suites samba music much more naturally which is why it took of in brazil. It was originally developed purely for entertainment purposes as dance but during civil conflict martial elements where adopted for combat as capoeira is extremely difficult to read as a fighting style..
Wait a minute, capoeira isnt a dance, it was disguised as a dance when the black people were slaves, the ginga means balance, and sometimes succes in a fight,
Oh ok man thats very cool.. so if u were actually in a fight.. u would just use the kicks right?? in order to either knock them down or put em out.. but my question is would u still be dancing?
@1Solifidesoulja The thing is capoeira is not just about fighting (or about pretending in front of outsiders to be fighting), I think people who force others to believe it's an awesome self-defence form are making capoeira look bad. But anyways, among other thins IT IS a martial art. In a street fight good capoeiristas would still sway their bodies a lot (not necessarily doing ginga), but its not dancing it's evasion, they would not do carthweels etc, just use basic kicks, punches and takedowns.
@1Solifidesoulja The jinga dance is telegraphic. So personally no I don't dance. But I do use similar techniques in my roundhouse kicks. Capoeira is bloody awesome for fitness, flexibility, endurance, strength and a small amount of fighting. But capoeira on it's own does not succeed in the cage. So throw in a bit of Muay Thai, Jujitsu and a few others. Then you're sorted :)
@1Solifidesoulja actually ur mistaken capoeira is a sneaky and very fast paced martial art, any one of those kicks would knock anyone right the hell out
@cacaman17 i believe its more for show.. 99.9% of fights go to the ground so there is no use in using capoeira..it is very sick tho i love to watch it..
@1Solifidesoulja well, what ur talking about is capoeira angola which is a style of capoeira, there are two styles regional like this one, and angola which is slower and low to the ground, keep in mind that this NOT a fight but a game of capoeira which is how we train and develop a sense of how to apply kicks, in a real fight we are trained to use those kicks to end it quick
this is regional which often times seem a little to hyper and i mean i undeerstand u don't want to hit anyone but u can't kick from the other side of the roda and expect it to count for anything
