@bluethunder25 it was Game 7 of the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals against the philidelphia 76ers. boston had a one point lead against philidelphia and then in the last five seconds of the game, hal greer tosses the ball to chet walker but havlicek steals the ball to win the championship. thats why it was an amazing steal
@bluethunder25 76ers were down 110 - 99. 2 minutes left, Wilt Chamberlain ripped off 10 straight points & completely shut down the entire Celtics team to make it 110-109.
Russell pulled the biggest boneheaded play in NBA playoff history - on the inbound pass he hit the guidewire they used to hold the baskets steady. But with the chance to win, Hal Greer lobbed a pass to Walker & Hondo stole it.
The next year the 76ers made sure it didn't happen again, stomping Boston 140 - 116 in the last game
I would have thought that Jordan's last steal as a Bull in the 98 finals (on Malone) would have made the list, since it basically won the title for them, but oh well...
Reed had gone down with an injury early in the first half, and the Knicks were soon down by 16. Frazier led a furious second half comeback, I think with at least 5 or 6 steals.
I'm glad they included the Frazier steal on West. First, that he stripped the guard probably considered the best guard at the time. (West had the better career stats, but I think Frazier was better at that time. He could play much better defense and was a better passer.) Second is that this steal came at a critical point of Game 5 of their championship series against LA.
In the Havlicek play, watch the conclusion carefully. He fires the ball toward the basket and it hits the rim as people stream onto the court. Watch the ball carefully to see a pretty funny guy.
