I seem to remember that the show got an award for the 'Best Comedy Drama of the Decade' on one of these awards programmes at the end of 1989. Does anyone else remember that?  Brilliant show and currently being repeated on ITV4 on Tuesday evenings. Surprising how much dialogue I remember!

Agree with everyone else. The best ever. In Sweden they didn't even show the second series. The idiot in charge thought it wasn't up to standard. What a fucking moron and I was so disappointed back then. Anyway, later on I borrowed the lot on vhs from a mate so I've seen it all. They will release a complete dvd box soon and that one I'll definitely buy. Auf Wiedersehen, Pet = Simply the best ever on television.

series 3 was ok i thought, the jokes were good and it worked if you ask me until they left the boro then it went down hill. But Oz knocking the dealer out and working with illegals etc fit the characters quite well i thought.

the best bit is series 2 where oz says "he'll be driving a land rover coz he's an archutect, its the same with the rastas tooting around in bmws because they think it stands for bob marley and the wailers" laughed so much when i first heard that.

the good thing with wiedersehen is that you laugh because its funny not just because there is a studio audience laughing

When it was brought back for the BBC it just seemed so false and un-naturel and didn't have the magic of the first 2.

I think it was to reflect how serving a prison sentance was supposed to have reformed him. you gotta admit though, the episode when he found out his son was gay was a classic Oz reaction!
