I have flown on both airlines before but more often on China Airlines. I think China Airlines have better cabin service and prettier flight attendants and uniform. Their inflight entertainment and meals are also of better quality. However, I feel that Air China's pilots are better trained and it reflects in their ability and know-how to control the aircraft better.

But I must say that both airlines came a long way and credit must be given for their effort to slowly improve themselves.

Man all you people need to do some research before judging who is better. They are both average airlines. And yes China Airlines does have worse safety record than Air China....Why? Well Air China founded in 1988 and China Airlines founded in 1959. Look at the year difference of course China Airlines is going to have a worse safety record. It's like comparing Westjet with Air Canada. Come on guys...comparing apples and oranges here man.

both airlines are safe, china airlines operates much less flights at a much higher disaster rate than air china, air china only had one incident which involved passenger lives and that was in south korea. AIr China is part of Star Alliance which is the largest codeshare agreement among the biggest airlines in the world while china airlines does not. More benefit for the passengers of AIr china around the world as they recognize Star Alliance more than dynasty flyer. Regardless they are all safe.

I don't really give a shit about bad attitude, I only care about being brought from A to B safely. I have never flown either on of them, I always fly with Either China southern, KLM, Fin Air or Singapore Airlines. I prefer either China southern or Singapore. The food on KLM or Finair is deadly disgusting ha ha ha... But I would have to choose I would Choose Air China because China Airlines doesn't fly to the Mainland (as far as I know) and China airlines track record is not that charming.

yea so what if their record are not charming? they are improving...i flew from all over the world and i can tell you that regardless of what kind of service they offer...the most important is that i see some kind of dedication to their job...china airlines steward/stewardess work hard to achieve and they always greet you with a smile...they also work hard on emergencies...why do you think no serious injuries were caused in the plane fire in narita?
