RUNS GREAT! HEY DO YOU THINK I WOULD BE ABLE TO PUT THE GRAPHICS ON HIGH IF I HAVE... 3GB OF RAM....NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card... 1.8 Ghz Dual Core... Whats your opinion...? SMART I DEA OF NOT USING FRAPS....LAGS LIKE SHIT WITH FRAPS!
I've just picked it up for $10 on ebay. I'm banking all my hopes on the rumour that the production version is optimised more than the demo. I don't care how it looks, I just want to play it.
would tis run on my laptop it an acer it windows vista basic and intel dual core thats all i rele know :L but my laptop can run cod 4 and unreal quite well if any1 can tell me plz say
Try out the UT3 demo on your win xp machine, I just posted a video of the demo running on vista(with fraps!) It ran great on vista so maybe you can turn up the resolution because I sure the heck couldn't
Never Mind, I got it up to 720 x 480. I'll post another video of the results later. The min resolution video is still processing. It's really cool and should be playable soon!(still messing with settings)
A tourbocache is basicallt the graphics card uses so much of the ram as graphics memory, so on this m1210 it has 64mb dedicated graphics memory then it uses 281mb of the ram. If you have a dell then it might be possiblt to put a bigger graphics card in, but i would say more ram and a 7200pm hardrive makes a differance.
The Dell M1210 did have some overheating issues but since I got the warranty they fixed it...well a new motherboard, heatsink, and thermal pads that go on the CPU. Now its running 45C
Did you change a lot of the quality settings? I have the exact same laptop with more RAM and more GHz then yours does but when I try to play Counterstrike: Source of Portal I get a lot of lag and the CPU Usage goes to 100%. I have no viruses or spyware :/
ugh it's kind of frustrating ... I updated my video card (NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400) for the latest driver and when I tried to play Portal it was running perfectly at high settings for at least 10 minutes. Then it just suddenly starts to lag and I have to put all the settings to Low but even then it still lags a bit. Any suggestions?
I don't think it's overheating. I got a program that tells me the temperature of my computer, and it stayed relatively constant at around 70 before and as I was playing Portal. Still though, after about 5 minutes it started to lag horribly and I had to turn down all the settings ...
Hi there, i had some problems a while back with overheating 'dell xps m1210' i have since contacted dell and they have said its a problem with all of this model, they couldnt do much as i had gone over my warrenty! But somebody else contacted me about this problem, and you will be ammazed that you can fix it: YOURSELF! just by lifting the laptop, i did mine with 4 bottle tops just to lift it a little, (testing) and by putting a fan blowing against the computer (also test) and it worked!
2nd part! ok that was all testing, i was playing on crysis, cs, wow, etc... for hours just like! so the next day i went out and bought a cooling deck, whatever there called! your laptop just sits on it and wacks extra cool air on your computer! also i downloaded a driver *recomended by dell called: I8kfanGUI
This solved all my problems, now im gaming like never before, lol.
Hope this helps, and i hope you understand all what i put :)
Thanks for the info, but actually about the day after I posted this comment I went and bought a laptop cooling stand and downloaded I8kfanGUI. xD It's helped so much though and now I can play TF2 and CSS for as long as I want. =D
Thanks anyways though. I guess if anyone else is having this same problem they know what to do now!!
Hey mate, just wondering! i have the same computer as you with: 1.8ghz Centrino Duo
4 gig of ram (just had updated) Nvidia 7400 go which says this: Total Available Graphics 320 mb turbocache.
(sorry my computer knowledge is bad)
The reason im telling you this is because with all of that! when i played crysis it sucked! lol my comp couldnt even run it properly! it lagged so bad... like slow as heck! so how can you play it but i cant? lol
lol, i understand the question but im poor student and had to draw a line somewhere.. i read dell offers an upgrade so i hope i can do that in about six months a year.. untill then i'll play heavy games on med i think
The above system specifications are good for high settings. For very high settings the following is recommended: * OS - Windows Vista (you must have DX10 to run Crysis on very high) * Processor - Dual core 2.2 ghz (Crysis only runs off two cores) * Memory - 3.5 GB RAM * GPU - 2X NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT/512 or NVIDIA GeForce 9800GX2/1024
i dont have a great laptop...2 gigs of RAM, intel core DUO, windows vista home premium, 7400, 1.86 ghz, what should i upgrade cause i know i cant play crysis
How many fps?

stevecav1138 2 years ago
do you have the 7400 go
put it on 800 by 600 and low settings

the demo is poorly optimized, full version runs better

did you have to mod the cooling system at all? does the heatsink use a thermal pad?
anarky4321 3 years ago
just undervolt ur cpu's, you might get 10 degree cooler
mikeccuk2006 3 years ago
does anyone know if you can fix the overheating issues yourself if you dont have the warranty?

do you have vista or xp
if you have vista your going to need at least 2gigs of ram
but some games like bioshoick under vista ran very well
